Contest Deadline Changed, Site Issues
Krang |

Due to the fact that we haven't received as many entries as expected and that we have received some requests for this, we have pushed the contest deadline back a week to
March 11, 2004. This will most likely be the last time we extend the deadline, so if we don't receive a sufficient number of entries by then, the contest will be cancelled. If you're interested in entering, there's still time, so be sure to check out the
contest page for the rules and details!
Also, as you may have noticed, we were previously using our old host's FTP server for downloads. Unfortunately, our files have been removed recently, so the video clips and screensavers are temporarily offline. Later this month, I will set up a new download script and put the downloads back up on this server, so please check back soon! And about the fan art section, I'm almost done with the script that I mentioned in my last news post, so expect a big fan art update within the next few weeks! If you have sent in some fan art since the last update, please check the
Fan Art Backlog to make sure that I have received it and that it's ready to be added in the next update.

Thanks for extending the deadline, i wasn't going to ask, but, in truth, i'm great at creating dramatic music videos, but for some reason, comedy is hard for me to do
also, i'm having a heck of a hard time finding a good editor, i've gone through 3 already @_@

In my experience.... the best products to use to create a video would be....
-Adobe Premier 6.5 (Commercial Video Editing Software)
-Adobe After-Effects 5.5 (Commercial Special Effects and Touch-up software)
-Adobe Photoshop 7 (Commercial and Personal Photo/Filmstrip Editing)
-Alam DV2 (Personal Special FX and Hollywood style video modifing)
Although, you have to remember that these Adobe products are not cheap and these products are not the easiest to use for beginners.... They do create fantastic videos....
Now that I have another weekend, maybe Shaoblane will be able to work on my video with me.
Hey, R.Smith, good luck on your video.

Uhh...hmm..err...I got a problem now O_o;;;
I finished my video and even zipped it into a compressed folder...but uhh...it's still 41 MB (give or take)...and what's worse, it won't upload to my ripway account! O.O;;
Umm Krang??
I really want to submit this but umm, what happens if it just won't upload? Is it possible to send it to you via MSNM or something?
*edit*
Hello again! I got it uploaded! ^_^ ...but since it's on my ripway account I really need to be careful with the banwidth...I'll email you the link Krang

AHAHAHAHAHAH, Shaoblane and I are 99.9% finished wiht our video...
YES!!!!!!!!!!!
I can finally play X2-The Threat in Peace!!!!!!
Anyways, I will upload my video to my website and submit the link tomorrow. I thought it was a good experience for juggling homework and completing a video over 2 minutes and 40 seconds long, most of which is lip syncing...
Remind me to never again to lip sync ANYTHING to Big-O. --_--""
Hope you all like it...
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....
Not to brag, but I think I was one of the first to submit their entry to this contest. Finished my video in three days.
But it's kinda cheap, I didn't really feel like spending day and night working on it. I was gonna produce the video and post it on my site anyway, so I thought I'd eneter it and see if it gets me anywhere.
If you go through Hell and back for something like this, relax. It's supposed to be fun for everyone eventually. But if you do all the hard work and only we end up laughing, that's your loss.
I've said all I have to say...
...For now...

I know.... I was being over dramatic... Its just that I procrastinated and now I got stuck with doing our movie at the last minute.
Anyways, I had a big idea, and didn't have as much time to expound upon it as I would have liked.

IMPORTANT!!
For anyone who is planning on submitting a video for the contest and hasn't yet, you have exactly 2 hours to do so. If I don't receive your email by then, your entry will not be accepted.

I submitted it, with approximately 1 hour and 48 minutes left...
YES!!!! I am such a procrastinator

Well, its finally zero hour! feeling giddy - I can't wait to see the entries. Any idea how soon they will be posted? Also will there be any disadvantage to everyone downloading the entries at once? Or is there a daily bandwidth cap for Paradigm City that might come into play?
I'll happily wait a while to download if it will help. BTW, if bandwidth could conceivably be an issue, maybe some Paradigm City residents would be willing to set up a torrent of the files?
[EDIT] I certainly would

It will probably be a few more days, since we need to decide on the voting process (and watch all the videos again if we're going to eliminate some), then get some of the bigger videos reencoded to a smaller file size if necessary. One of us will probably post an update by Monday or Tuesday.

Yeah, the bandwidth will be a problem. I'll see if I can modify a download script to put a limit on the number of times the videos can be downloaded each day. But great idea about the torrent, if that works out, it could save us alot of bandwidth.

I think that if the videos are judged by the members(As in a vote) of the Paradigm-City forums, we might see some judging unfairly...
I believe that Krang and Shredder should judge the videos to what they see as the winners. Maybe the members of the forums should decide finalists but not the winner and runner-up videos.
Also, I was just curious if we could get a list showing all the people who entered....

Agreed. I think that people would vote for the more popular person's video insted of honestly voting.
Maybe making an annonymous poll?
...YEAH! Label th entries (as many as you want to put in the poll) numbers so that the people voting and people in the forums can only vote for the videos themselves.
for example...(random numbers from the top of my head
)
Say we had 20 entries. In the poll we'd list "Entry #1", "Entry #2", "Entry #3", and so on until there are 20 choices. People can only vote once (or twice), and only Krang and Shredder will know which entry corresponds with which person (hopefully the authors will keep their entries annonymous as possible. I forgot that I added in a title card and name in my entry >_< ) ...anyways...when the voting is done the people will be revealed which videos have become the finalists and the authors who made them.
sound ok? If not...then I just stick with Drew's idea
