Another newbie joins the lineup

Well.

My name is Karen and I'm a completist. When I develop an interest, I want to collect all the info I can, down to the end. Which is why I ended up here, thanks to the other great Big O sites that linked here.
This is certainly one of the largest!

I was spoiled for anime in my college years by seeing Miyazaki-sama, thereby rendering me unfit to enjoy most other works. Needless to say, I find Big O an exception. Why? The mystery, the relationships (reminds me of Doctor Who or Star Trek at its best), Roger's pragmatic heroism, Dorothy's sarcasm.

Outside Cartoon Network (which younger son loves to distraction and we are blessed with for too many hours a day), I enjoy Junkyard Wars, motorcycling, messing around on my farm, science and technology. It should come as no surprise that I score as "Norman" on the personality test. (My husband is Roger, of course; he's my paladin .) I've been involved with science fiction and media fandom, but not recently. It's sort of like coming home to an entirely new set of faces. FISAWOL*, I see.

My screen name is of course from the Greek myth of Pygmalion and Galatea. I am considering how this might apply to the R-D relationship. (Possibly more along the lines of George Bernard Shaw's play than the original myth.)

And to think someone once told me I was "stupid for liking Big O because it was just another mindless mecha anime".

I tried to explain to him why it wasn't,but he wouldn't hear any of it.
