Until recently, I never heard of the French rock band, Happy House. They're not very well known, but their songs are very good (FIGE DANS LA CIRE [Solidify in Wax], TIME IS OVER, and CORRESPONDANCE are my personal favorites) in my opinion. On their web site, you can download their two albums along with extras songs as well.

Here's a few more that I listen to, that I doubt very many people have heard of.

Origin: A tech. Death Metal Band from Kansas.
Sufication: A tech. Death Metal band from New York. They are noted for having two black members (Their drummer Mike Smith and Guitarist Terrence Hobbs, Hobbs is one of my top 5 guitarists).
Immolation: A Tech. brutal Death Metal band from New York.
Incantation: A death metal band from New York.
Naplam Death: A Death/goregrind band from England. Def, one of the best.
Carcass: Goregrind band from england. Another one of my faves. in the Goregrind/Grindcore genre.

Clearly Invisible

Only have one song released online, though. (It has some strange copy protection.)

Two of the guys from the band live on my street.

Not neccesarily bands but great musicians with albums you gotta check out if you like prog:

-Malmsteen
-Derek Sherinian
-John Petrucci
-Joe Satriana
-Steve Vai

Alll are guitarists aside from Sherinian (Keyboards) but have awesome sounds.

Immortal Souls: A "winter metal" band from Scandinavia. Their actually a
Christian band, and they have a great sound and amazing guitar work.
Crimson Moonlight: A Christian death metal/Black Metal band from germany, also kicks major booty.

Right now, I've been listening to a lot of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (or BRMC, for short). Their older albums sound kind of like indie rock, but their album that they released last year is really bluesy, and I just love it.

Behemoth: A polish Death Metal band. They started out as Black Metal but slowly moved towards Death Metal. However their older Black Metal stuff is pretty decent, but their Death Metal work is much better.
Byzantine: A thrash Metal band from west virginia. Good stuff.
Impaled: Goregrind band from oakland, Cali.
Exhumed: Another Goregrind/Death Metal band from Cali.
Frost Like Ashes: A Christian Black Metal band from Missouri. I've been listinging to them alot lately. Great stuff.

Normally, I'd not count the Grateful Dead among bands people have never heard of. But judging by how few posts there are (other than by me) concerning their work, I think they're worth a mention. They're fantastic, and so much of their concert work is available for streaming or download on the Internet (check archive.org).

Traffic, too, is a pretty good band.

I knew some people who hadn't heard of them so I figured some people here might not know either.
