DC Conference Details
Square Enix have held a press event for DC at the Tokyo International Forum today, announcing more details about the game. Among the details are a release date and price for the Japanese version. Set for release 26nd January 2006, and will sell for 8,190 yen.
Also revealed was news about the theme song, "REDEMPTION" by Japanese artist Gackt, as well as an insert song called "LONGING" by the same artist. Gackt's involved isn't limited to prodived music though, he will also apparently be playing a role in the game. Rather than being motion captured, his part will use a new technique where he will be filmed in live action and, combined with CGI, put into the game. His outfit for the part was designed by Tetsuya Nomura, but details about his character are still unknown.

I have to say, I certainly wasn't expecting something like this!
Oh, I ripped the drawing and photo images from the site:

Not the first time Gackt has been in a game. He was in Bunjigai, as well, which was a decent game.
He's like the Japanese Flamboyant Pope/Dave Grohl hybrid.

in that second picture, is that yuffie on a flying, distinct-enough-to-avoid-suit vespa?

Indeed, it is.
Heh, I hadn't even noticed it resembled a vespa.

So in December, I'm beta testing this game, along with like a handful of other people. Both online and offline. This is all thanks to Gamespy. W00tballs.

When December rolls around, care to share a few screenshots and anything else of the game you can take photos of?
not saying that I don't believe you, but....... I don't believe you

A package with DoC and Grandia 3 are expected to come right around Christmas. Me, my friend, and about 108 other people are doing the same thing.
BUT this is the thing. As much as I would love to prove you wrong and make you cry/want to go down on me, from what I have experienced before in Beta testing (THPS4 and FFXI, to name a few), they sue the f*** out of me if I release any visuals or whatnot taken by myself and not directly from the company. I sign off on something which pretty much makes me a whore to the company. That's why you never see images from beta testers testing games...unless it's the company's idea to do such a thing.

Scott is right. What he signs is known as an NDA, or Non-Disclosure Agreement. Strategy guide writers sign similar agreements. Breaking it is fertile grounds to get your ass sued.

Ah I see.
Hm, interesting some member on AC.net posted images of their Japanese beta copy, so I didn't know that it was against any contract.

Just a quick note, there was an interview with Nomura in one of the magazines, in which he mentioned that Dirge of Cerberus is in the final stages, and they're working on the final areas and ending of the game.
He also talked about a possible remake or a "FFVII-2", and said it would be difficult to do, but if they have the time and resources, it's possible. However, after KH2 is complete, Nomura has yet another project already lined up.
More importantly, he said that the development delays and lack of information regarding Crisis Core is because all the staff are really busy and haven't had as much time to work on it. BUT, they're going to unveil the release date and start letting info out at E3 '06.

New Dirge of Cerberus PV
A new DC PV (Promotional Video) has been spotted and in Japanese game stores, and recorded by a user of the Japanese 2chan message boards. In order to avoid bandwidth problems, they are trying to keep the download relatively private, so I'll refrain from giving a direct link at this time, though I will upload the video to rapidshare later this afternoon (I have to leave now), so check back later tonight.
In the mean time, I'll give you a scene-by-scene summary of this new trailer, which can be viewed by clicking the "Read More" link.

Heh, it
is very awesome (always good to have the right 'connections'

). Can't wait to get a direct video copy, since this was recorded from a tv screen.
But, I'll be nice and share it, here it is on Rapidshare.
