[Suggestion] Activity Rating

Perhaps there should be some kind of activity rating... I don't know exactly how it would need to be done, but it would take the total posts / time the thread has existed and produce some number that could be used to gauge the popularity/activity of the thread.
I know this could cause some problems with server load, but maybe there's some way to manually check it so that each user needs to click a button, thus making the query only when a user asks instead of when the page loads.
Just another neat doo-dad.

Seraphim, you should change your user name to Suggesty McSuggestalot

Maybe I'll do something like that as an add-on (for example, you would type the thread ID into a form and it would return info about the thread), but it won't be integrated into the forums.

I could, but isn't that over the character limit for usernames?

That sounds good. It would be a neat way to check the "hotness" of a thread.

The thing is, I have a ton of suggestions. I try to space them far apart enough to make it not overbearing.

Nothin' wrong with that, I was just being silly
|
Oh, very good, then.
You know, I might as well throw an idea in here... just to save thread space.
Can we get a "Sort by author"?

You should just change the name of this thread to "Seraphim's Suggestion Emporium" and put all your suggestions here.

Once again, another feature that I have never noticed.
We need to host a scavenger hunt and find all of the neat little features no one notices.

I've found something that isn't quite a feature, but is still good.
To direct a link to an exact post in the middle of a thread (rather than just the page) click quote.
Here's the formula:
1. Look at the link in the address bar after clicking quote. It'll look like this:
http://www.paradigm-city.com/forums/addreply.php?postid=[###}&action=quote&
sid=
2. Take the Number which is in the spot the [###] is.
3. Click to view the last post of any thread. (The little arrow button on the very right of the forum view list of threads).
4. Paste the [###] into the corresponding places (outlined here) in that link:
http://www.paradigm-city.com/forums/thread.php?sid=&postid=[##]#post[##]
(PS: This post IS checked for errors in the links. Follow this formula and it ought to work.

You can also go to the tree view thing and right click -> copy link on the exact post you want.

True, but then people get confused when you forget to delete the threadview=1 or whatever. And, if you do delete that, sometimes it reads out the post onto the wrong page (as that is sometimes how tree mode works) and your link comes up dead.

Not to burst your bubble, but we can do that already.
The little icon that looks like a piece of paper is not only the new post indicator, but an html bookmark as well. Right click and click copy shortcut then paste whereever and the link will go to that specific post no matter where in the thread it is.

Yeah, but what if the post is several days old and only now you want to refer to it. Then you have to use this method, I think.
