Paranoia Agent

it could've been a suicide pill. i dunno. dang, that can NOT be Lil' Slugger, i mean, that's a pretty lame way to go down, getting beaten by a drunk, desperate, pervert, loser.
i do sense that Detective Ikari is soon to be on Lil' Slugger's list, i mean, he's showing signs, main character who is kinda destitute, confused at what's happening to the legal system.
oh, and that cartoon parallelism thing was cool and funny "i have to, it's the man's way to do things"
Collateral 06-19-2005 05:14 PM
This was a pretty disturbing episode as well as a very intriguing one. Disturbing very much so by the "Call me Daddy".

That kid can't be lil' slugger because like everyone else said lil' slugger wouldn't have acted so much like a...kid. I mean he was pratically running away from the cop and for goodness sakes he only got hit by a...a...was that chicken? He has a helmet right?
Negotiator_Roger_Smith 06-19-2005 10:17 PM
I guessing that the dirty cop was in debt to the japanese mob!

it was his shoe. nice throw for a drunk throw.

All the episodes are at least mildy disturbing
The daddy comment did make that guy just a bit creepier than the others

I thought at first that the kid wasnt Lil Slugger and was just trying to bum off his rep but the kid even had the buttons on the hat, he seemed the have more personality than usual though

WOW! I just keep getting amazed more and more each episode! The way that something as honorable as love for one's family could be twisted into utterly depraved violence was amazing enough for the episode, but Lil' Slugger made my jaw drop wide open.

Bottom line is the best anime series I've ever seen so far. If the rest of the episodes are as good as these, Cowboy Bebop will be dethroned into #2.

You know, I really doubt that love for his family was the cop's motive. Let's not forget, that part of his payment for working with the mob was that of being able to "participate" in the sex ring they were iin charge of. That entire conversation he had about his family seemed like a lie to me. The way he was talking just seemed too insincere. Sure he was trying to build a dream house, but it was mostly his dream house, not that of his family. If he really cared about his family, and not the money and sex, he A) would not have gotten involved with the mob in the first place knowing the risk it would pose for his family, and B) would not be using his illegal actions to get sex. It seems like his violent actions were just a method of saving himself, not his family. I mean, besides his conversations with the detective, there was very little mention of them at all. Perhaps he started off working to help them, but it certainly didn't stay that way.

I do have to say this is one strange anime. I'm still watching. Not really sure it's going to be an anime I'd ever watch again but it certainly does freak me out a little. Wasn't too fond of the first ep but the second and third changed my mind a little. Still strange though.

Now that was just plain funny. I really enjoyed tonight's episode. It was a welcome break from the serious nature of the past few episodes. Getting to look into "Little Slugger's" (still unsure of whether he is real or not) mind was funny. Plus, the officers' reactions to it were awesome. However, I noticed the old man was the one telling the child who to hit. That old man looks just like the one in the hospital. Coincedence? Or something more? I really cannot wait until next week, because I desperatly want to know what kind of information that old woman will have. I am sure she knows something more. Maybe she can tell them where "Goma" is.

I noticed the same thing, when he was first talking about the elder I thought about the old man writing all of that stuff.

Whoops, I spoke too soon. Bebop will still be #1 for the forseeable future. It's not that I disliked this episode, but that it was such a radical shift. It was like Big O suddenly turning into Full Metal Alchemist, it just didn't go together IMO.

I liked watching people slowly turn crazy and have this phantom figure whack them on the head. 'Lil Slugger should have stayed as a ghost, it just took away all of the image and persona of him.

I'll keep watching but I hope the next episodes are more like the first. Anyway thats my two cents worth.

This was my favorite episode by far. It was so funny. I think it is really neat how everything seemed to intertwine with the video game.

how many total espoides are of this show?
Sharpshooter005 07-03-2005 12:27 AM
I..think it's 12.

Which makes me wonder, are they going to pull an explanation out during the last episode. Or is it just going to get close to one, then spiral off into some entirely different direction altogether.

There are 13 total, and it gets really freaky as it reaches its conclusion.

Well tonight's episode was truly odd. It was interesting to actually find out what the old woman saw, though I was really worried that she had died in the current during the storm. I was glad that she lived and found her granddaughter in the end though. Anyway, it was very wierd to think that the first victim (her name eludes me) actually made up the whole thing. It doesn't really fit in with the later attacks, plus tonights. On a slightly disturbing note, we got to see what the police officer's fixation with being called "daddy" was all about. His daughter definatly had the right to be freaked out by that. I can't believe that "little Slugger" (I'm not really sure who that was) gave her amnesia. Very wierd stuff. Good episode though, lots of plot points revealed.

Ok, by "freaky" I mean an escalation of the previous wierdness. It takes on a rather darker tone (yes darker than it already is) and gets progressively more so until the end. And no, it has not been normal so far. Not normal at all.

The first victim of Lil Slugger is Tsukiko. Were her injuries self-inflicted? The evidence changes with each episode, and the older detective wants to find a rational explanation for the Lil Slugger attacks.

The police officer is one sick ******* I hope he gets locked up or killed by the end of the series.
