Star Wars original trilogy DVD

OK. Most star war fans should know that on September 21, the original 3 movies are coming out in boxset on DVD. At first, this news was amazing. FINALLY my favorite movies would be coming up in picture perfect detail, or so I thought. Just recently I found out that the 3 movies would be slightly edited, such as at the end of ROTJ, Ep3's anakin is standing next to yoda and ben.
It seems a lot of people are getting upset about stuff like this. Amazon's pre-order page is filled with reviews on how "lucas is butchering the original trilogy now" and similar items.
I never felt what many fans were saying. The movies getting slight editing, such as a +Naboo celebration at the end of Jedi, doesn't bother me.
THEN I found out the music is going to be somewhat changed, to fit the new trilogy. For instance, returning to Jedi again, when Luke and Vader face off, instead of hearing that deep opera peice, we're now gonna hear duel of the fates.
What do the SW fans of Paradigm City think?

Aside from hearing DOTF I wouldn't mind the changes you mentioned. Lucas is attempting to make both trilogies flow into eacxh other. That's a good thing as long as they don't overdo it.

Lets just wait and see how they come out. It could be really good for the trilogy or it could be really horrible and ruin it. But at this point untill it comes out I really don't know how it will turn out.

The stormtrooper rifles have now all been replaced with chiyo plushies, because otherwise it's "too violent".

Very carefully,
Just adjust the focus or zoom settings, maybe the hum it makes needs tuning up?

What? Blasphemy! That's one of my favorite musical pieces! Duel of the Fates isn't bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to that!
I seriously believe that Lucas is suffering from some sort of degenerative mental disorder and hasn't been of sound mind since the 90's. How else could you explain his buthchering of a once great story?

They better not touch the song when Luke and Vader fight. They do, and I'll have my boot so far up Lucas's ass he'll be like some human sock to me.
He shouldn't even mess with it. It is a classic.

As in sharpening the image.
Check out the link, they made them less fuzzy and cloudy, and more like a thick clearly defined beam.

Not much of a star wars fan as I used to be, so I'm not really concerned, but it looks pretty good in my opinion, but the thing I don't get, why the need to keep revamping the films?
First there was the plain movies
Then the "Special Editions"
and now this.
OMG OMG OMG Teh PwNz0rZ!!!!!11oneone
The trifecta of geekdom is complete! Back To the Future, Indiana Jones and Star Wars are now in my posession!
And I got a nifty Empire poster!
Now...to watch them all and see what was changed.

Hmm... wasn't there already a thread on this? (old, I know, but still...)

Anyway, I have yet to get the DVD's because I am not sure if these changes really affect the movie dramatically. Other than that, good to hear that you now have the Star Wars DVD Collection. Be sure to tell us how it went.
Later,
Trisa

Before I end up in a long tirade, I will say that I'm thankful that Star Wars is FINALLY making it's long overdue appearence on DVD. My video tapes won't hold up forever!
Now, on with the rant...
I think Lucas has lost his mind. Star Wars was FINE the way it was - the special editions were cool, but I wish there were BOTH versions of the movies available in the boxset.
I was really hoping that Lucas' idea for changing Anakin in RotJ was simply still a rumor, however I suppose that's not the case. Besides, it's not like Anakin died as a young man! He was at least in his 40's when Luke offed him, therefore, he would NOT look young like Hayden Christiansen of episode III anymore by the time RotJ takes place. Besides, didn't Obi-Wan do a number on Anakin (something involving a lava pit?) - he'd be scarred and ragged looking anyhow.
While he's at it, Lucas might as well replace Alec Guiness' face with Ewan McGreogor's (and we couldn't DO that to Alec Guiness - he's just too damned cool as Obi-Wan) in the final scene...but no...that'd be as idiotic as...splicing Christiansen in there!
Quick, somebody get Star Wars out of Lucas's hands before he does any more damage.

Well, I'm more of a Trekkie than a Star Wars fan. But I have seen and enjoyed the films. I've been watching the commercials and I must say I was pretty excited about the boxed set finally being released.
But after reading the edits I must say I'm a little disappointed. Lucas has every right to change whatever he pleases but I do wish he'd left them alone.
At least make two sets, Edited and Non-edited.
