Star Wars original trilogy DVD

Yes yes yes....

I picked up the Original Star Wars Trilogy last night (well, my girlfriend actually bought it for me as a late b-day present), and then I picked up a lightsaber that her store was selling too. Yep yep, I picked up Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from The Empire Strikes Back. I had a choice between his or Mace Windu's. As much as I love Mace Windu, I decided to go with Luke's blue saber from Empire. Looks exactly like Darth Vader's except for the color of the blade.

For once I got the DVD set before everyone in the US

It was released on the 20th here and it arrived in the post that day. I'm not too concerned that its the extended edition - I'm just glad I've got it now on DVD and my poor overused videos recorded from the tv years ago can be rested.

I already have the Indiana Jones Boxset, i hope i can scrounge some cash for this, then again, maybe i should wait till christmas

Bah, I'll get it in a month or so. Price reductions are beautiful ^_^

However, I HAVE been looking forward to this for a long time. And the price tag is already nice.

Does anyone have any sort of offical list of all the changes that were made?

I want the DVDs so badly, but alas, I only have $5 to my name...

So far I've just watched A New Hope, and I noticed this:

Greedo still shoots first, but they fire at almost the same time.

This place has a few items about it

The only real change that bothers me is putting Hayden Christensen in Jedi. What the hell is the point of that? Christensen sucks and is a horrible actor and, if anything, he should be edited OUT of episode II .

All the other changes I might not have noticed. I'm fine with the Greedo/Han scene. This way it at least looks more natural. Lucas had a reason for changing the scene in the Special Edition. He said he didn't want the Han Solo character to be portrayed as a murderer. This might be a good idea, since many kids will probably try to imitate the character (crazy kids...). However, Han Solo is a ganster, a scoundrel, and a murderer so maybe it isn't a good decision...

Well, he WAS, until he was saved by the crappy aim of Greedo.

Although now they shoot so quckly that Han must have decided to shoot Greedo before getting shot at.

Yeah, so why doesn't George just stop making crap up about Han being peaceful and just go back and make him shoot first so everyone will be happy?!

Ok, I just watched the Greedo/Han scene and all I have to say is:

TEH SUCK!!!!

The way that Han moves to the side and fires looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fake!!! It's painfully obvious that this was an edit, even if this will be the first time you see this movie. The movement just isn't natural... It's too smooth. I reversed the video and watched it a few times in slow-motion... It just looks wrong! ::sighs::

Anyways, although I'm still kind of annoyed that he changed a few things like adding hayden in the final parts of jedi, I heard the the film quality is outstanding, and some changes like Jabba the Hutt in the original and fixing the emperor in jedi I'm cool with.

There are a lot...in my opinion...

Here are the ones I noticed (Ive watched A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back...)

-Obviously, the Greedo/Han scene about who shoots first

-In Empire, when Vader calls the Emperor via the holocron, the conversation has changed, and BIG TIME. The Emperor's face is now clearer and looks more like Ian McDiarmid, also, he makes reference to "Anakin Skywalker" actually using the name. And that Luke is the "boy who destroyed the Death Star." In the original movies, this wasnt said...

-I could be mistaken, but the scene in Empire where Luke is on Dagobah training with Yoda and he sees the future on Cloud City...there is a change. In the original movie, Luke asks Yoda to look into the future and describe what happens, and I think Yoda says "pain and suffering, but yet too early (sic) to tell". On the DVD, Luke just says he has to go after seeing Leia and Han at Cloud City. I dont believe that Yoda does his foreseeing into the future. I could be mistaken, however, I cant quite remember...

Ok lucas has gone too far. Now it is time to boycot epp 3 untill the third week so he wont get that first weekend numbers then we file a class action suit to get our money back for tricking us soo many times.
