Big O Season 1 Discussion

Spike 07-11-2003 12:43 PM
Didn't the people who worked on the Batman animated series help with Big O?
Schoolie 07-11-2003 02:50 PM
Yeah, I heard once that a studio in Korea worked on both Big O and Batman: The Animated Series. Anybody know the name?
StevieV019 07-14-2003 06:41 PM
Ok...Ive watched the first season of Big O (its a great series, it rocks!!), but I have a question...
spoiler (highlight to read):
THe very last episode entitled "R.D" has a murderer in it that keeps going on the rampage. If Im not mistaken, Dorothy is the murderer or something...thats basically why Im confused. Is she the supposed murderer given her initials "R. D" for R. Dorothy Wainwright? What further complicates the episode and who the murderer is is this...
She got all psycho with Roger when he found her near the end, and then Roger had to call on the Big O to deal with the approaching Megadues'...while jumping into the cockpit for the robot, Dorothy jumps in to join him up there, right after she got all psycho...thats what didnt make sense, how did she get all good all of sudden and then be forgiven by Roger or not have him recall how she was acting?
Thats my confusion...any help anyone? Im probably missing something...so clarification would be appreciated....

[Edit: Spoiler tags added in case anyone hasn't seen this episode yet. --Krang]

Did they ever explain what the scars on Angel's back were from?

oh yeah they did say that....

i bet she is going to fall in love with roger and will die near the end....
well either her or dorothy.

and im not actually making any bets....its just a trend observation.
Manji 07-15-2003 12:04 AM
It does seem like it might end that way... but I doubt dorothy will die, perphaps Norman though...
Brutakas 07-15-2003 03:12 AM
Maybe Bonnie will die...(again?)
Manji 07-15-2003 01:15 PM
Or perphaps Elvis will die again.... actually I think Dorothy will turn on Roger (for some reason...), Angel will partner with Roger, and Norman will go on vacation... or he'll die, something like that....

Does anyone read NewType Magazine? Just an FYI, they have a section that gives episode summaries for shows that are on tv in the US and in Japan. Obviously, they're showing The Big O's second season over in Japan, and Ive read a couple of the episode summaries (they're only about 5 or 6 sentences so nothing too detailed) to see what may happen down the road...Kinda interesting....
Manji 07-16-2003 03:01 PM
I usually read Newtype, but I dont have a subscription or anything, I just pick em' up at suncoast, and I haven't made it out to suncoast lately...
StevieV019 07-17-2003 11:08 AM
I havent picked up the latest one; the last NewType I picked up I think it summarized episodes 7-10 of the second season, so I didnt get to read the summary for the season finale for the second season. I cant wait for it to show up on Adult swim though, Ive been waiting for them to finally tie up the loose ends (as has everyone I bet...).

I wish they'd discuss more about Alex Rosewater's background and of course how the pods came to exist....we all have wishes though...

I'm not sure if this would be classified as a spoiler but I'll tag it anyways"
spoiler (highlight to read):
Neither Angel or Dorothy die. At the end of Act 26 you see them standing next to each other on a street corner as Roger drives by. Hehe, Kinda interesting cause it is Act 1, when Roger is driving in the very begining, that they show this scene.

Episode 23: Twisted Memories

spoiler (highlight to read):
He's shooting some sort of "Crab tank" like things that are going after Dorothy. Shortly after this scene is when the New Duo shows up.

spoiler (highlight to read):
The only thing I know about Act 26 is that the Big O and the third Big face off...that was based upon what I read in the latest NewType this past weekend, they didnt go into too much detail...

Doesnt Deus in French mean two? If so, what is the word for "three" in the French language? Anybody know...I think thats the name for the third Big...I could be mistaken though...
Aliao 07-22-2003 07:39 PM
Deux is french for two, and Trois is three. However, throughout the first season (subtitled) whenever a character says Megadeus, it is translated to Big Demon, or occassionally Giant Magic Spirit.

Not sure if that necessarily means anything, though. Confused

On a differant note, something I just thought of...

In Act 11, Daemonseed, when Norman is riding that motorcycleish thing that he drives, I swear that the license plate on it says M*ASH. Has anyone else seen this? Am I crazy? It's seen just for a brief moment when Roger calls for Norman to get the people out of the stores in the shopping center. Confused
Manji 07-22-2003 09:50 PM
Mash as in Mobile Army Service Hospital? Like the show? maybe the creaters really like the japanese version of MASH...
Aliao 07-23-2003 12:00 AM
I managed to get a really good look at it earlier, and now I'm positive that that's what it says. Maybe it was just a really creative way to acknowledge the show? Who knows!
