Saw the Aliens vs. Predator trailer last night...

Went to see I, Robot and one of the trailers was none other than AVP! I'm sure everybody has already watched the trailer on websites and whatnot but I had never seen it before. Looks sweet too! I wasn't sure how they would handle the story and what time frame we'd be looking at, and I'm not sure if the way they seem to have taken it is the right way but I'll wait to see it myself before I pass judgement. Man, this is like when I first saw the Freddy vs. Jason trailer. When two icons this big clash, you can't help but get chills...

I must see this movie. My friend Eric was talking about it on the last day of school, go up to math teacher and say:

Eric: Alien Versus Predator! It's Coming!


I promised him I would see it first chance I get, but I wanted to see it anyway,

I haven't seen alien or predator ever before but when I went to see I, Robot the other day, I saw the preview for it, and the storyline looks really good, So I'll probably head over to see it,
Plus I love gross gory movies

I also saw the trailer for this in I, Robot. I can't wait for this to come out. I've played both AvP games, and they rock.

This has been on my Summer Must See List ever since last summer. I'll definatly go see it.

Its been on my to watch list for years now, sense the Alien VS Preadator game for SNES came out, ( I always had a premintion they would make a movie of it)

In my opinion the Aliens were way cooler than the predator.

Although I feel this movie is going to be another cliche lame ass movie that cashes in on big names (aliens, predator).

Plus I think the dude who made the streetfighter movie made this one, so he doesn't have a good record.

Admittedly..never been a HUGE fan of either franchise..(even the genre, I suppose).

I saw part of Jason X though, and yes...Wow. I can deal with (if not EXPECT) campiness and a large degree of silly plot ideas in films of that type, but the whole "GET THIS...HE'S FROZEN, AND THEN HE FALLS INTO A MACHINE...AND BECOMES A FREAKIN ROBOT" thing (also...I'm vaguely familiar with the storyline...didn't a SWAT or national guard team basically blast him to bits in the prior jason film? Kind of hard to go from that to an intact corpse) was insane.

Furthermore...machette? Or plasma rifle. I don't care how much of an invincible badass you are..you'll go for the friggin plasma gun.

Eh...he also made resident evil, which dosen't bode too well..

Then again, I've heard event horizon was at least ok, and I didn't think "soldier" was THAT terrible.

Oh, also mortal kombat. (Which..yeah. Lets face it...of the films in that little series? the first one at least didn't really take itself seriously, and worked as an adaptation of a video game. Even if it sucked compared to anything else).

...Aliens and Predator are cliches by now, it's almost impossible to take that subject matter without it seeming a bit cliche.

Anyway..I'll give this the benefit of the doubt. I'm hoping for a well put together action movie. If it works on that level, I for one think it will have lived up to all anyone could expect.

I mean..yeah, it's...a crossover between aliens and predator. If it provides entertainment, thats all you can ask for it. It isn't Tarkovsky or Kurosawa or Sergei Einstein, and...I can't see anyone expecting it to be.

You my friend, are extremely wise, but I'm sure uyou already know that. AVP should be exactly what you'd expect, a big loud action flick. There won't be a lot of time or space to include in depth character descriptions or some complex side plot about something or other, just Aliens fighting Predators with humans caught in the middle. But that works because the entire Predator society revolves around the honor gained from the hunt, and a more worthy prey than Aliens exists not.

The biggest thing you'll see as far as that, (I'd assume) is some little wink at the formation of the weyland-yutani corporation. (Henricksen's character is named Weyland. So..yeah, I assume it'll end with something like him taking a sample of predator technology, or biological material from a xenomorph).

Otherwise, yeah. Mostly just people screaming, running, being impaled. Same old stuff you'd expect.

Acually though...I may be wrong about the corporation thing. I read somewhere...that the corporation exists by that point, and the reason a science team on expedition in the antarctic is armed to the teeth, is that they're trying to secure the ruins (predator or alien temple) against competing nations/factions.

(If you look at IMDB the full characters name is "charles bishop weyland"...so...yeah, I'd guess the android was modeled on the original weyland, even down to the name, since the weyland-yutani corporation produced it...or...yeah, I haven't seen Aliens in a very long time, I forget.)

I'm hoping the Predators kick some Alien ***! Ive seen both Predator movies and Alien Resurection and parts of the other Alien movies, so I think it's going to be pretty good.

I saw a comercial for the movie last night on sifi durring Stargate SG-1 and it looks really good. I have seen all the movies of Aliens and Preditors and I can't wait to see them slug it out.

They don't really explain this in Aliens, although in Aliens 3 they show the guy the android was modeled after.
