I second that notion completely, for I am very concerned about Beth too. CO is right, consulting a physician would definitely remedy your sleep deprivation, Beth. Avoid medication as much as possible, and we're here for you. Today, I 'stole' some headphones off a cd player I found lying on the floor. I feel somewhat guilty, but I dignify my self knowing I probably did that poor girl a favor. When one of the assistant principals came in to check up on the situation, I calmly and cooly carefully worded what I said as to not arouse suspicion or seem guilty. This whole incident is an accident to start with. When the girl came looking for it, I had already wrapped the headphones up and pocketed them, and when she asked for them I said I didn't have them. Afterwards, I figured I better stick to my story and here I am, with new headphones. Lazy careless humans. Anyway, this needed to be off my chest.

Um...no offense (I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything), but I think what you did was very, very wrong.

It was bad enough that you took them in the first place, but the very fact that the girl who they belonged to actually came up to you and asked you for them and you lied to her, told her you didn't have them, and proceeded to take them home with you makes the situation all the worse!

You call her a "lazy careless human"...but I call her "the victim of theft". As I've mentioned before in some other threads, at my school everyone from 6th grade through 12th grade is required to have a laptop to bring to school every day. And every now and then you hear about laptops mysteriously disappearing / being stolen, and they are never found. So, I can definitely sympathize with people who have gone through that, even though my laptop's never been stolen. Now, laptops cost thousands of dollars. I know that the headphones you stole aren't nearly as expensive as a laptop, but it is still stealing!

I'm very shocked by your confession. It's one thing to find something on the ground that obviously no one will ever claim, but to lie to her face when she came up to you and asked you for it? I honestly don't know how you can sleep at night after that.

In my opinion, I think you should return the headphones to the girl as soon as you can, and apologize.

Yes, it is seriously true that I have been devising weapons systems to make a life size (if not, maybe a 1/2 scale) WORKING "Big O". I first began with thinking of the different ways to build the cockpit so that it worked like in the show (as much as it could, sometimes pressing the same button in the show did two different things, so I picked one of em). Since I don't know if these plans will actually FUNCTION when/if built in the future, I must say first of all that these are all "could be possible" plans and ideas. The control sticks would have metal rollers which touch sensor-rails inside their tracks in order to send signals to the main computer to move the hydraulics in the shoulder to move the arm. The control stick would drop down using gears and small electrical motors until they were under the track, then they flip upside down and the gears bring up the alternate stick for use in "O Thunder"...the button used to trigger this change between control sticks is located on the hemispherical disk just above the rail and is located (on the disk) on the side away from the pilot. I've also thought up other mechanisms for 1) making the pistons AND eye beams work on each control stick (with two separate buttons), 2) monitor and track movement in-synch. with how it's done in the show, 3) how the panels for the Energy Sphere come out....etc. Then I began to think about the weapons...this came about after seeing Jonny's theory on how the Arm Pistons could operate. So I thought "how then, would the O Thunder work without interfering with the chamber for Sudden Impact?" ...and so I thought out how the armor splits apart, and how the cannons can actually "extend" out, and finally how it rotated. Then I also thought about how to fit "Final Stage" inside Big O..... ...............................the only thing that really lost me, were the hip anchors. I could figure how to put over 1000 yards of chain inside a megadeus. Nothing has been tested (obviously), nothing has been proven to "work", it is still remains, very much so, in my head. But I will continue this planning until I either get the opportunity to build it, or move on to something more obsessive.

To evan: That isnt a confession. That deserves its own thread DUDE! FRIKIN AWESOME! I will support you as long as no goverment gets its hands on them. Then we are screwed.

To Almasy:I take no offense from you. I think it would be interesting to go to a school like that...but having laptops stolen? Thats a felony(if value is over 500 dollars). But realize my situation. I would have been in too much trouble for that, trouble I cant afford. Besides, like I said I was doing a favor. Your not supposed to have cd players/ any electronic devices at the school, and if they get taken away you need 14 dollars and a parent to retrive it.Average Headphones go from 5-12 dollars. upside if you ask me. And even if I did want to apologize, I have no bloody idea who she is, and the consequences of repenting dont seem to bright now.

I second BigOz's suggestion -- make that a thread! And maybe you should contact some engineers.

Is avoiding a situation that can easily be rectified worth sacrificing for a permanent guilt? One never knows; it could easily return to haunt you. What goes around comes around, so they say. I concur completely with Almasy; what you did was not wise, but the situation is still rectifiable and I highly recommend doing so.

No confession from me for now.

The guilt wont be permanent. It will linger for about a day, then I call back home to find out how much more crap has hit the fan, then I forget about it. Besides...Being all "noble" may rid me forever of any guilt, but it sure as hell wont rid me of the trouble that ensues. I will follow johns advice, and try to avoid this next time.

I don't think you need to spend anytime in the mirror to look PERFECT, just wake up and go, you'll be PERFECT already. ;P

I'm finally going to get a "real" job! Not 100% in the bag just yet, but I'm pretty sure it will work. I've also been trying to take better care of myself lately, and I think it's paying off.
