The Paradigm Confessional Thread

My idea of "disturbing views about ones future" usually involve optimism...and I don't mean I think I'll be rich and powerful. Everytime I lapse into thinking I'll achieve, or nearly achieve, some goal which is probably at least somewhat rational, I assume somethings drastically wrong and I'm deluding myself.

I'm sooooooo screwed when it comes to this Finance test... I invested like... 2-3 hours studying. LOL! Laughing

We'll find out in about 40 minutes!

I admit, back when I first started attending message boards and IRC channels a little over two years ago, I was a spammer. I signed on to a certain anime site's IRC channel once and pretended to be a female internet prostitute for my own laughs. I was immediately kicked off and banned, of course. But with age comes wisdom and maturity. Oh Well

After a while I can have a low tollerance for people contantly bothering me... even if it is a girl I end up pushing them if they push me... punch? never... but push yes...*sigh* its really bad... I wish I had sucha bigger tollerance... I even find myself crying sometimes... really bad...

Time for a confession since I recently revealed it in the IRC channel.

spoiler (highlight to read):
When I was thirteen, I tried to kill myself a few times. I never mentioned it or my problems to anyone during and after phase. The stress from school and the burden of responsibility with age was almost too much for me, I had no social life or friends, and my relationship with my parents wasn't faring so well either. Each time I panicked out, either to give myself more time to contemplate or because I was frightened away by the thought of pain. Eventually, the changes in time and passing events had a significant impact on my life and I began to look forward to the future; suicide is no longer part of my life. Smile

Well, this is both a confession and a request for advice.
spoiler (highlight to read):
Here goes, my dad is an angry, violent alcoholic. As a result, my mom has a lot to deal with. Because of this she drinks a lot every couple of days. Generally, pretty heavily at that time. She is never violent or anything, but its always pretty noticealbe. It just so happens that a lot of times, she drinks on the days that I have to write papers for classes. So, I need her to proofread them. In recent weeks, she has been unable to even move a mouse and as a result, I did terribly on a major paper. Now, my mom's drinking is interfering with my work, so (here is the advice part) what should I do? I don't want to tell her she has a problem because I don't want to ruin my relationship with her, as we've always been pretty close, but things can't keep goign like this. So any advice?
COHugh 02-14-2005 10:50 PM
spoiler (highlight to read):
My opinion? If you care about her, you *MUST* bring this problem to her attention. I don't think you need to tell her how to fix this, but you do need to let her know about the problems that you're noticing as a result of her choices of late and that you're very concerned for her well-being. Be sure to stress this last point. You are concerned for her well-being and don't want to see her drink her life and health away. See how she responds and go from there.

Best of luck, my friend.

I totally agree here. You should take the initiative to bring this substance abuse to her attention. Her life depends on it.

Try almost 23 and still one. Contrary to popular belief, it's by choice.

Worry more about the person than the act, my friend.

I'd rather wait to lose mine with someone I deeply care about than some quick fling.

Amen to that, brother. Losing your virginity to someone who don't care about is one of the worst things one can do. Just wait for the right one. Smile

I have one along the same line as SpoonySthingyy. Such a deep, dark secret... when I joined the forum I hadn't seen any episodes of Big O either! Tongue Now I've seen two but that's it so far.

spoiler (highlight to read):
And I'm a 21 year old virgin, but I'm fine with that. I agree, better to wait for someone who cares than to have a meaningless fling. Smile

While we're on this kind of subject... I'd never even kissed anyone til a few months ago, talk about a late bloomer! Embarrassed Sweatdrop

spoiler (highlight to read):
My first kiss came from a person I intended to marry. I was 22 years old. So, I know what you mean by being a late bloomer.

And I get the feeling I won't be one for very long if my hormones keep getting the better of me.

spoiler (highlight to read):
Terrance likes me back! Yay . . .I think? The catch is, I don't want to wait all the way until June (when I turn eighteen) for a relationship. So I'm like, debating within myself whether I want to wait, or move on. I mean, it might be worth the wait, and at the same time, it might not be.

spoiler (highlight to read):
I like Creed. So shoot me.

spoiler (highlight to read):
Someday I'm going to be the red Fantana! Her name is Capri. (See signature and avatar.) I think I'd make a cute red Fantana!

Okay, so it'll never happen, but it's a nice fantasy.
