The Paradigm Confessional Thread

Avenir, you really sound more mature than 15. (not that it's a bad thing) Thanks for telling us. I can understand how it is hard to be honest, especially over the Internet.

spoiler (highlight to read):
I realized the other day that I am in a very weird girl situation. All of the girls I never actually asked out, I am really good friends with. The girls that I actually did go out with, I don't talk to anymore. I think...it's because all the friends I had in high school were from band, and they were all cool people, and the girls that I've met at college pretty much all suck. Of course the girls I met in high school all had boyfriends anyway so I never asked them out...I'm waiting for the day when they realize there's been a great guy right in front of them all along. But that'll probably never happen.

spoiler (highlight to read):
This friend of mine who I went to Six Flags with, who wants to find me a girl, I used to have an enormous crush on her in high school. I never asked her out though because she was always seeing someone else, and after a while we became friends and I didn't want to freak her out. I want to tell her that I used to like her (actually still do, but I'm pretty sure there is no chance, and besides her boyfriend seems really good for her now.)

spoiler (highlight to read):
My mom said I should go to one of those dating websites...which REALLY surprised the hell out of me, since whenever she hears me on AIM she asks if I'm talking to "some freak"

First and foremost, I suppose I should begin by confessing my age. As you can tell, this is a subject I tend to avoid, and I even purposely left out a date of birth in my profile. Well, the reason for this is because I have found that many people tend to form first impressions based on one's age, believing it to be a propoer measuring stick for maturity. This is something I wholeheartedly disagree with, and while I recognize that just about everyone on these forums really don't care about age, it was still something I didn't want to reveal just in case it did change someone's opinion of me.

However, I also realize that hiding my age really makes me no better, as it implies a lack of trust among my fellow forum members...it also, I think, leads to some misconceptions that I should be much more willing to reveal.

I actually quasi-revealed my age once (well, Wienberg did it in the thread, I only confirmed it), but I don't think many people remember that thread. So, for the second (and probably last) time, I shall reveal my true age...

I am sixteen years old, which makes me the youngest of the moderators and only a baby compared to a lot of the other, more frequent posters. I suppose one reason I'm always hesitant to reveal my age is because a lot of adults tend to ignore the opinions and thoughts of other people my age, because we either haven't experienced enough of the world, aren't mature enough, not knowledgable/intelligent enough...and I really detest that. It doesn't help that several of my peers do an excellent job of living up to these expectations. I'm thankful that the majority of posters here really don't pay attention to age, and are accepting of just about everyone's opinions.

What The Fallen Phoenix said is another reason why I put down a false age. I have been to some boards that were age prejuduce and where people belittled each other due to age. While many can strike up a pretty intelligent conversation, others tend to make total fools out of theselves.

I remember when he posted that. And you will notice that I said that age doesn't matter. It's what you post and how you act on the forums that matters the most. I find that some of the younger members are quite intelligent. Even coming up with philosophical writings that make my head hurt. No, it doesn't matter. Why you did it makes perfect sense. Thanks for trusting us.

Oh does this mean I have to confess something now? **sigh**
spoiler (highlight to read):
I'm not sure if my friend understands that I have no hostility. I'm only worried. I want them to be happy. I want them to trust me again.

I think I'm just more mature than most people. Most other guys I know just want to get laid and for some reason girls love them, I actually want a relationship and get shoved to the side.

I agree too.

And now I have to do a confession

spoiler (highlight to read):
I got my ass kicked yesterday, but I fought back because I wanted the other person to know I don't take sh**, and showed I wasn't afraid to fight.

Oh yeah, I kinda don't want you to quote this... in case I feel like I wanna delete it one day.
COHugh 11-04-2004 08:35 PM
Hmm... Missed a few things:

Avenir: Sorry, it doesn't matter to me. In fact, I had no idea what your fake age was and could have gone on blissfully ignorant of this until my final days. Wink

spoiler (highlight to read):
MTN889: Well, at least you stood up for yourself. Hopefully you were right to do so. ::doesn't need details, just stating:: You'll probably earn more respect in the long-run for it.

Not like it really, seeing as how..well, distance and terrible luck have kind of ruined one of the only good things I had going.

spoiler (highlight to read):
Well I don't know if that's really how things work, girls liking only mean guys. But if it's true then I am glad I am the exception! I'm sure that most people who know me would classify me as a 'nice guy' and I'm sure that there are quite a few girls who like me. Hell I don't really know what girls think, obviously, but I do know that there is one girl who likes me even though I am a 'nice guy.' Haha! And somehow this is happening even though she is 1367 miles away!

I do agree that its dumb that girls like asshole guys, but consider this GAT, some people are blind and do not know the difference between an asshole guy and a nice guy, becuase they see things in different perspectives from you. To one girl, you could be seen as an asshole guy, and to another, you could be seen as a nice guy. The ones that see you as an asshole, you should ignore. The ones that see you as a nice guy, you should stay friends with, but at the same time look for others.

Here's an excerpt from an IM conversation with a friend of mine.

Rendar77: im waiting for the day when all the chicks im "just friends" with decide to drop the losers and get on the mike train
Rendar77: seriously, all the non-bitch girls are taken, and the non-taken girls are bitches

And there is my problem. I'm attracted to really sweet nice girls, and 99% of the time they already have boyfriends. And then they end up seeing me as a "brother I never had"

That kind of happened to me to, but differently:

I had this big crush on this guy in elementary school. Years later, he ends up being one of my best friends. Pleased

I had this quasigirfriend a while back who was pretty shy, and the next year she started getting more friends and then completely ignored me and avoided me in halls and such. (I think she was afraid of somthing) and somthing like 3 years since we stopped talking I was moving away and she randomly came back to say good bye. It was wierd.

HAPPY CONFESSION!!!!!!

I went back over my degree audit and I might be able to graduate in the summer!!! SCORE!

I'm so scared, but happy too. I dislike the irresponsible, pseudo man-child lifestyle that is secondary education.

Now to try and find a job... I have no experience in the field and that's all anyone hiring wants. Oh Well

Not all girls like mean guys, in fact, most girls loathe mean guys. However, girls do go for the guys who openly show affection toward them and who make them feel special.

Maybe it's the kind of girl you're attracted to. There ARE girls who do end up with guys who treat them terribly because of some odd insecurity complexes or other emotional problems. If your female friends think you're a great guy, then you must be a great guy. Just have some patience and don't give up hope. We all get rejected more than we're accepted. You just have to go through a myriad of rejections and bad relationships before you find that one perfect person.

I know a lot of "party" girls in college, but I know even more girls who are just waiting for their knight in shining armor to come sweep them off their feet. The girls who are attracted to the guys that are looking for a quick lay are NOT girls you want to date anyhow - they're usually pretty skanky themselves.

I hate mean guys, It really turns me off to see a guy acting 'badass'. It's partially why I'm single.

Someone called me picky the other day, and said that was the reason I didn't have a boyfriend. I told him to f*** off, at least I wasn't going to get with someone I didn't have true feelings for Smile

I feel so depressed. I rub off on people in a negative way. one of my friends called me a realist.

Wow...confession time (this one isn't for the kiddies)

spoiler (highlight to read):
Last night, about 11 of us split 3 thirty packs of Keystone Light (that's a brand of beer for you noobs) in my friend S****'s room. I had about 9 or 10 (I have the alcohol tolerance of...umm...Brock Samson), but I also took my meds with it, whcih added some sort of hallucinagenic effect (which was freakin sweet for about an hour). I wasn't drunk, I just wasn't myself.

We all had fun. We listened to Flogging Molly and played drunken Halo on my friend S****'s tv. We sang really loudly to Bohemian Rhapsody. However, three RA's came in and busted us because we had 90 empty beer cans lying around the table and we were all really loud. I now may have to go to "Checkpoint", which is an 8 hour course that teaches me the negative effect of alcohol and drugs. However, it's going to cost me $90 and I don't really have to pay any attention to it. That's probobly going to be our punishment. S****, however, might have to go to some therapist and campus court. I feel really bad for him. He's a great kid.

Oh, and I don't know if they are notifying my parents. My dad would praise me (he...does stuff) but my mom thinks I can do no wrong and actually thought I was studying last night.

Edit 2 (I fixed a minor sentence fragment during the first one Tongue ): I just spoke to my friend Tabor. We're gonna ignore this little thing just for tonight and go to a house party. It may seem that I have no common sense whatsoever (I do), but...eh....f*** it...
