Meh...I just do all of my assignments and then party. There's a lot of drinking going on up here. That's how it is in college...or at least where I go (I'm in a sleepy little suburb of upstate NY right next to a nuclear power plant and lake ontario).

It's hard to deal with things in a new way. You get into habits that let you avoid facing things. They become your familiar friends, and you call upon them without even thinking about it. The first time you let that fall away, you don't yet have new, positive habits to replace them and it can lead to a horrible sense of disconnectedness and even panic--if I don't do what I used to do, what DO I do?

This was one of the most painful things I ever learned, and it almost cost me all my friends as I learned it. I'm happy to say that in the end, after a year or so had passed, relationships were mended and I was in a better place than I had ever been.

Six years of me being an Athiest and she still doesn't accept it (which, you can imagine, makes it very interesting around the holidays when she always asks why I'm not going to church and then usually breaks out into a yelling sort of preach ).

Eh, but that's just me. I'm one of those people who thinks that if you're not happy with your religion, you should change it to something you are happy with. But whatever might be the case with you, I wish you luck.

Sounds pretty similar to my philosophies. I've always been attracted to reincarnation and viewing existence as a cycle rather than a straight line (a lot of my beliefs actually coincide with Buddhism). Heaven and Hell I'm still iffy on--my beliefs regarding them are in the process of changing, I'm just not sure how.

I just found this out Monday night, but as it turns out, I've been attending the wrong art class for the past 9 weeks due to a registration error I never noticed. The good thing is that it's figured out and I'll still get credit.

Agreed. Although I've never attempted to pull a stunt like that, I know a person here (at college) who has continuously done that in order to try and attract a friend of mine. He's asked her out several times and she said no. He even asked her when she was drunk and she told him off. If someone says no or is clearly telling the other person off through actions and/or body language, that would be the right time to stop.

GAT: Well, all I can tell you are the usual lines such as "Be yourself" and "Try not to act nervous". Being myself doesn't seem to help, but that's good advice in general. So to review: Be yourself unless you're me and don't be nervous. I'm not sure what you mean by standoffish, but if you mean she's not personable in general, I've found one technique that, though odd, occasionally elicits a favorable response: If she has a serious expression on her face (ie. Scowl) and never smiles, just start staring at her like she's got a bug on her face or something. Eventually, if she's so standoffish/hostile, she'll ask wtf you're doing. Just maintain a serious expression and reply, "Don't smile!" I know it's odd, but as I said above, being myself rarely meets with success.

DoD: I don't believe in "falling out of love". I feel that most people weren't truly in love with the person they're no longer "in love with" from the start but are attracted to them on a more physical than spiritual level. If I were in your position and I found myself having doubts, I'd ask myself: "Is this honestly the person I see myself spending all of eternity with? Is this the person I want to father(for the ladies in the audience )/mother my children? Even if we don't want children, is this the one I want to wake up next to, his/her face smashed into a drool-covered pillow, for the rest of my life?" If he/she is not, then there's no point to the relationship and it's unfair for both parties involved to continue it. When a guy talks like that is it any wonder he's single? So serious...
