Speaking of college. I'm inexplicably terrified about it now. My school grades in trimesters...aaand my mid trimester grade in psychology wasn't anything special at all. So now I'm finding myself staring apprehensively at the acceptance letters I've gotten, convinced I've pretty much just amputated my own foot or something.
Fujiko 10-16-2004 01:43 AM
Well, i would suggest that from now on keep it at least at a C+ or B-. They can take away the acceptances if they see you've been slacking off.

As for my confession:

I am so high on caffeine now. I feel so awake! I was even singing REM songs and "hotel california" on the street! See, that it is the reason i don't drink coffee too often.

I joke around about homosexuality and yaoi too, in fact a lot of people hate me for it, I get kicked out of IRC channels for it, I've even been called a fag because I like to kid around about Yaoi. In reality I'm straight, I've had people [including a pcf member] try to convince me I'm bisexual before, but I know I'm straight, so I guess in the end I'm very confident of my sexuality.

Smart-Ass Comment of the Day: I've been trying to do better in my database class and not make jokes, but this one was too easy. My professor was explaining how to use single quotes ( ' ) as delimiters in SQL Server and he said this was fine until you got to some Irish guy. He then asked, "Why do you think this'd be a problem?"

Dead silence for a good moment.

He asked again.

More silence, followed by me muttering, "Because... they... drink a lot?" Problem being, it was so quiet in the room everyone heard me. Embarrassed Sweatdrop

p.s. It's because a lot of Irish names use single-quotes such as "O'Neal" and the program will treat anything after the single-quote as useless data and will not display it.

spoiler (highlight to read):
Don't you deal with that using an ASCII Code/HTML entity to replace the quote in O'Neal?
COHugh 10-20-2004 01:40 AM
Something along those lines, yes. Basically it's like in html when you want to have a greater than/less than sign you have to use "&gt" and "&lt". You just have to use one of those thingies when manually inputting data into the code.

I just got out of a short (but serious) relationship that went back and fourth from being a relationship and a friendship. We decided to end within the past week.

After that, I recently met a girl and we've done quite a few things together (drinking, watching the playoffs, studying, shopping). However, I fear that if I get too close and possibly start a relationship, all hell will break loose and I'll fail. I also don't want to come off as a man whore and look like I sleep with anything that walks.

A guy I know in my Honors classes keeps talking dirty to me and rubbing my leg. It wouldn't be a big problem if he wasn't so tall, weren't so aggressive (I consider this aggressive), I had any romantic interest in him, and whenever he'd put his hand where it doesn't belong (my thigh; outside AND INSIDE) I can't concentrate and/or remember what I'm doing, and my Dad wasn't a very protective Navy guy who'd kill anyone (even me) who even thinks that premarital teen sex is a good thing (which I don't).

Also;

spoiler (highlight to read):
These are the things my dad has proved to me through his lectures:
He's a:
1. realist, or I just like to say racist
2. somewhat chovinistic
3. COMPLETELY against gays
4. Almost ridiculously protective of me (which probably started since almost all my friends are guys)

Luckily, I am not like that.Anime Smile

I don't care about my grades. they are slipping very badly and I have already come up with an alternative to giving it to my mom. A way to hide my grades. First I tell my mom that I lost it, then I take the real one and cut out the classes I'm failing. and put my copy over someone elses copy with better grades than me, (probably my friend sean, who has all my same classes, for the most part) and then a week after report cards come out, tell my mom I was able to get a copy from the office.

Damnit, I"m good. But. I really shouldn't be doing this!

ML: I had/have parents that were waaaaaaay too over protective of myself and my siblings as well. When I finally got out of the house, I went away to a state college, went all wild and crazy, and had to drop out and start anew elsewhere. Though I don't approve of bigotry and the other things listed, I think your father in general just wants the best for you (like you haven't heard that a bazillion times) and means well. Basically all I'm saying is: Don't rebel like I did. Be sensible and try to do well by him as much as possible, where applicable.

Don't be a stripper. I've known a few and though the money is nice, there are tons of health/stalker/social-stigma/relationship issues that make it a less than a dream job. It's caused the girls I know nothing but grief.

As for Mr. Horny, inform him that children have been expelled for less and if he continues, mention it to your teacher or your father. It'll stop right quick then, I'm sure. Wink

KGE: Sorry to hear about your probs. Frown Cutting yourself doesn't help, though. Again, I know another (I know a lot of people, in spite of my annoying personality Wink ) who used to do this and it never ever solved anything. She finally began to get her life back together for a while, but more problems arose and now I have no idea what became of her (more on that in a second)... You've always got someone you can talk to. We're only an http away. Wink

spoiler (highlight to read):
Do it and do not look back. As long as you don't ask while dry-humping her leg, you shouldn't look like a man-whore.

I'll explain why with this, today's COHugh confessional:

The girl I mentioned to KGE and I met in my 10th grade english class. She seemed alright, loved Monty Python as did I, loved anime, loved all the strange and eccentric things I enjoyed in life.

I, loved her.

She went through the usual course of loser boyfriends that all females I'm attracted to date. One after another broke her heart and suddenly one day she was just gone. For a week she did not come to class and when she returned, she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt. The sleeves slid up at one point and she had bandages all around her wrists and scars up and down her arms. She quickly hid them, but I had already seen. We continued to talk and she continued to date losers well into the next school year.

Everything was status quo and she had even gotten out of the funk she had been in the prior year when her mom unexpectedly contracted breast cancer. Apparently, it was fairly far along and she wasn't expected to survive. She was going to have to move back to where her family lived (about 4-5 hours away) and the likelihood of my ever seeing her again was slim to none.

The whole point of this story is that one day, about a week before she was going to have to leave, we were walking through the halls together as we always did. She said, "I love you, David."

I said nothing.

I had been hurt by so many, I thought she was teasing me. There was no way in God's green earth that ANYONE could be attracted to me, so it had to be a joke. It had to be. I continued on with whatever stupid topic we were discussing as if nothing had happened.

The week continued on and we continued talking as if nothing had happened. Then, D-Day arrived. It was a Friday, of course, and we were walking up to her final class. This would be the last time we'd ever see each other alone again. We were walking up the stairwell by ourselves, talking about some sort of nonsense when she said, "I love you, David."

Again, I said nothing.

I continued talking about whatever meaningless topic we were on and totally blew her comment off. One of her friends met up with us and eventually she walked off, never to be seen or heard from again.

I found out from another of her friends that she was living with one of her teachers for a while, but had been kicked out because her grades collapsed and she had given up on school. I haven't even seen this friend in 3 years, so I have no idea where she is now.

The worst part was that I had no faith in myself. No confidence in who and what I was and because of it, I let a chance at happiness slip away. I have had no such chance since. The world is full of perfectly good women, my friend, they're just usually taken.

Don't let your chance slip away as I did mine.
