I am afraid that I will never succeed in life, that I'll never be talented or diciplined enough to ever get to do what I want to do. Worst of all, I want to be an artisit... specfically an illustrator or graphic designer.

I won't stop my drawring; I love it too much. But I doubt that I'll ever become good enough for it to do me any real good. Sometimes I wonder if it was all just a waste of nearly six years of my life...

You know, I came across the same thing when I was in college. Then it dawned on me, if I try, I had a 1 in 100 chance of succeeding. Pretty grim, eh? Well, if I didn't try, I had 0 chance of succeeding. That's even worse. I was poor, so I had nothing to fall back on. So, I decided since I had nothing to lose, I may as well tried. Now, I think I have done well.

Mistress Samwise, don't give up. You will win if you believe you can.

Is it better to live a happy life as a two-bit artist or a life of regret as anything else?

Ask yourself this question and honestly consider the answer. Worry about the rest afterwards.

As for the quality of your work, I have not seen it and therefore I cannot judge. I do know, however, that we tend to be our own harshest critic. Smile

I talked to my Dad yesterday. He’s still doing alright.
He said the doctors gave him an inhaler to help with his shortness of breath. I know it’s not much but it‘s better than nothing. At least now he can move around a lot more freely. ^_^

spoiler (highlight to read):
Don't give up! There are a lot of circumstances as to why she may not be online (believe me I've been in positions where it was hard for me to get online because there are so many things happening in my real life). I suggest you write her a nice e-mail. After all you may not know what might have happened. ^.^ I'm sure you'll talk to her again! Don't give up!^.^

Listen to GummiBear289. Her advice is sound.

Some of my friends here know this but, for the greater good, here goes
spoiler (highlight to read):
I am currently seeing a psychologist. She is helping me resolve issues that I have regarding my sense of worth and my relationships. I don't feel ashamed to be seeking the help because in the end I will be healthier and happier. I am not going because things are "my fault". I am going because I don't understand some things and want to figure it out. This only happened because my best friend encouraged me to go. I thank him for that.

I'm actually going to start seeing a psychologist soon. I think I have depression and social anxiety and I want to work it out before I end up a 40 year old virgin sitting in my parents' basement in my beige pajamas singing "I Wish I Were an Oscar Meyer Wiener"

Spoony: This has never worked for me, but I'm told that going out and exercising some tends to relieve a lot of tension. I think this has never worked for me because I have a tendency to focus on things, including my problems, above and beyond most normal people. I'd give it a try, at least. Smile I lost a crapload of weight doing this, so it isn't all bad!

Actually..

This is one of the things my psychologist told me to do. The endorphins help you feel good. A good walk will do the trick.

I exercise all the time for marching band, and I make going to the gym a regular habit. It just seems like, I can't get my mind off my problems. If i could go see a psychologist about it, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, I too focus intentily on my porblems.
