My father’s dying.
I got the news last Wednesday. I’ve been trying my hardest not to dwell on it, but these past few days I’ve become extremely depressed. I can't sleep.
I’ve been trying to build up the nerve to go see him, but I can’t seem to bring myself to do it. I don’t want to say goodbye.
I know everyone dies eventually and I shouldn’t let it eat at me as much as it has. But I love him.
And I can’t help but think how wretched this world is going to be without him.

Wow... I'm sorry to hear that... Frown Speaking from experience, I'd go see your father now, though. You'll regret that much more in the long run than you will seeing him in his current state.

Again, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Frown

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO feel the same way! In many cases, I know I'm right as well. (Long story about my High School days, no biggie) However, I've found that it's not true for most and I'm certain the same is true in your case. Smile Many times it's just in our heads...

To be honest, that's how I feel here sometimes as well. I suppose that's my confession for the day. I seem to be responding more than confessing. Big Grin

The bad thing about trying to deal with your demons is that when just when you think you've dealt with the major ones, you find even more — ones that are even worse than the ones you just dealt with. Repression isn't a nice thing.

I figured that out last night. This one explains a ton about myself... especially when you add in some stuff that was happening at the time also. Joy!

spoiler (highlight to read):
I'm SO stressed at work right now. Doesn't really help with all this other stuff going on.

spoiler (highlight to read):
My problem exactly. I feel more like a liability than anything else when I am around my friends. It may be a misconception, but it's quite a disconcerting feeling so it's difficult to ignore.

When friends of mine are actually kind to me, in instances in which I should be thanking them, I only feel like more of a liability...which is probably very selfish of me, but again, it's difficult to overcome such misconceptions. After all, I spent the majority of my school years as the unpopular nerd...only in the past couple of years have I really been accepted and it's tough to come to grips with that when you're not used to it.

It's funny how history repeats itself. I had the same problem when I was in High School and College. However, in light of my new friends (mostly from PCF), I am now comfortable with who I am. It took my 27 years to realize I wasn't a liability. It took an additional year to realize that I was an asset to many of my friends.

You are an asset to all of your friends Tony, not just many.

Here's mine

Although I have made new friends here, there are times I think I should just throw my computer away. It's like the beginning to "A Tale of Two Cities".

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way . . ."
