The Paradigm Confessional Thread

Though I'm usually a laid back generic guy, I do let my nerdy side take over somtimes. I went to the lake over the summer and I was reenacting schwarzwald's trek through coney island through the sand and into the water where I then proceeded to reenact the begining of Act 14.......... so nerdy.

*does a double piston punch into the water like a dumbass*

The following quote serves excellently as a confession of mine:

spoiler (highlight to read):
"There are no more barriers to cross. All that I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil—all the mayhem I have caused, and my utter indifference toward it—I have now surpassed. My pain in constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact, I want my pain to be inflicted upon others. I want no one to escape. But even after admitting this, there is no catharsis. My punishment continues to elude me, and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing."

You know. For a couple weeks now, you reminded me of someone. I could figure out who though. However, through this post and your one in the Jesus thread, I realized you remind me of my friend Brian. He posts like you, and has a shirt that says "Jesus is my homeboy". So yeah, just saying that for no reason at all.

And my confession? Hmm....

Funny, you make it sound as if your forgiveness is something to be desired...

Okay. I'm not saying that this line of discussion is going to lead to anything again, so forgive me if I'm being presumptuous, but whatever to which this line of discussion could lean, please just stop at this point. If you guys have something to say to each other, take it up privately. If another...uh, "detonation", like last time happens, than this thread will get locked. Hands down. You guys know I don't like playing the ogre, so please...alright?

Well, since I'm here, I guess I'll confess something Smile :

spoiler (highlight to read):
Despite whatever quirks, past disorders, and idiosyncraticies I may have, I am generally pleasent, optimistic person, with a good esteem and I hope a healthy view of people. My recent and distant past may not have been that great (okay, it was sh**ty Tongue ), but I live for the present, and don't let my past define who I am. And at present, I am and always will be a calm, collected, thoughtful individual, and for the sake of the person with whom I'm currently living, nothing will change that if I have a say in it.

Just thought a positive personal confession is due, and that's probably it for me in this thread Smile .

Whoa! It's my first time here. PArdon my catharsis...

spoiler (highlight to read):
I have been experiencing a crisis for a while now over whether I am losing faith in my fellow human beings or not. What really sucks is that I'm only 16 years old, and I can tell already that it's not going to be fun for the rest of my life.

My dilemma is that I'm afraid for the people around me that they're never going to realize their absurities, immorality, bigotry, ect. and that when I get into the adult world, nothing is going to be any different from what it is now... a hellish nightmare of confusion and anxiety that only serves to refueling itself over and over on the sturm und drang of human existance.

I'm hurting because I know that my peers are they way they are because they don't know how to cure themselves of the pain they're living through. That's why so many kids I know are mean or ignorant or derisive, or worse of all, almost completely devoid of compassion.

It sucks actually caring about other people, even if they don't give a cat's crap about the rest of the world, but I know it's better for the long run. Maybe someday people will stop killing each other over oil and start helping starving refugees and victims of genocide (hint, hint, Mister Bush).

In speaking of which, I have a terrible, deep, sinking feeling that what once was a possibilty for a better America is slowly growing dark again. Because when my mother weeps over the fact that there is still even the mere possibility of Bush being reelected, and that this era has been the worst she's lived through (she's over fifty years old, mind you, and you just use your mind to figure out the crap of the past), I know things are not looking good.

I feel it really says something about our society when we put people in office who still don't get the picture after over 225 years of a little line that goes "all men are created equal", or a big thing called the lower and middle classes, and let the ban on assault weapons expire. The general public being so disgusted of paying taxes shows the lack of responsibilty that people absolutely refuse to take for themselves, and all the while they're being robbed blind for a war in a country that is too ridiculous for its own good. Because we've plenty, plenty of problems on our own soil that need taking care of.

My dad still hasn't found a job yet, and its been since last December. And who wants a job that you get paid only one sixth of your previous salary for doing?

My school district is fast becoming a black hole, all because of the deadly mixture of "No Child Left Behind" and large amounts of kids who can't speak English yet. I guess when they passed that stupid-crap bill, they forgot that not everyone knows the native language in this country.

Grah. That became a rant, but I needed to do that.

** salutes **

This is exactly the way I feel too. However, I realized this at 26, not at 16. You should be proud of yourself, this is a great achievement. You don't buy into the War-Hawk, Cheerleading BS that society wants us to indulge.

That is a very good confession. I believe that mankind is destroying itself because of what matters "appearance"-wise. People go out and get new "aged" clothes, they do drugs, they start fights and curse the world, they cause trouble just for the hell of it...society is crumbling and only "wierd" people (as seen in THEIR eyes) notice it.

Hell, not to make this a debate...my problem is partially the opposite. Seems everyone my age believes truth is relative, you should believe what you want, etc. I suppose I'm just one of those raving fundamentalist Christian lunatics who can't believe he lives in a world that is so corrupt. I'm sickened by the way we people are treating sex (it's hardly even sacred anymore) especially.

So I suppose I'm sick of the "liberalization" of the world. And what scares me the most is that, on such issues, I feel like I'm very much alone.

I am, for the record, an adamant Bush supporter (aka the DEVIL HIMSELF -_-).

Moral relativism is fun for...five...six minutes maybe.

Otherwise, not only would I not have put what you said in spoilers. I'd have painted it onto the side of a blimp. Which, by the way, I want to see more of.

As wildly authoritarian as I seem. My ethics and so on get incredibly weird and subjective, resembling the plot twists of a poor detective novel. I've always rationalized this by saying the eventual GOALS are more important than if I pay back the five dollars you lent me. It's all just manuvering until I'm in the ATF, then I can steal from the seized property cache and pay you back for lunch. That tec-9 thats officially "missing" is going to pay you back for lunch someday.
