Well, I've recently only started listening to Punk. Really only the Ramones and the Clash. Of those two, I prefer the Clash. Every Ramones song sounds the same to me...
I'm gonna check out some of the bands Cerpin Taxt metioned...

Those people usually get thrown out and/or their asses kicked. |
I personally liked the style before. but now....its so....mass produced. Tell the guys you hang out with I personally salute them, for honoring a music form. *prepares to take down Greenday in a bloody slaughter*
I have not been to NYC, and will probably not go unless business takes me there. Oh...and those addons..I loathe the fact that people waste money on junk like that.

Agreed. Punk rock has been commercialized with pseduo-punk bands (A Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, etc, etc.) and has spread throughout the masses. Nobody appreciates good ole' Jello Biafra OR Henry Rollins anymore.

Break stuff? I haven't quite had that reaction to them!
I enjoy Linkin' Park and I don't believe they are a punk group but it is something that can be argued (not that I want one or anything :sweatdrop

.
Simple Plan is pretty good as well as a few others.

I actually got out of work for a bit, so I went there. I stayed there for about 10 minutes. The new singer sucked terribly and the room was filled to the brim with skinheads and people beating the living crap out of each other. Supposedly, after about 15 minutes after I left, several people were cuffed by the cops for reasons unknown. The punk scene here sucks.
Right now I'd say my favorite punk rock group is an amazing band called Saosin. Right now they only have an EP out (Translating The Name---you should be able to get it for about $5), but they're putting another EP out soon, and a full length next year. Their singer, who is now a member of a band called Circa Survive (which I think is the shittiest stuff on the face of the planet, unfortunately), does very amazing vocals (but less so in Circa Survive... he goes to the point where you think he's a prepubescent girl... yikes), and the guitar riffs are amazing. I'd recommend trying to download their songs "They Perched On Their Stilts, Pointing And Daring Me To Break Custom" and "Bury Your Head" (although it's a bit different than most of their songs) to see if you like them. Even if you're against downloading any music, don't worry --- the band leaked their first album on purpose. So yeah, awesome band.

I don't think Saosin is really punk. I think they're more emo.

Yeah. Saosin is NOT punk at all. More emo/screamo than anything.
It's like they're trying to be Sparta (circa 2004-present) but failing.
