Yeah, I'm in such a bad mood about this now. I mean, CN seems to cancell the only good shows they have on. Maybe I got to in to wanting a season 3? But still, their attitude is just wrong about this whole thing.

YOU FOOLS!!!
You lack any sense at all. Big-O Season 3 will be worse than Season 2 UNLESS Cartoon Network is not involved. If anything this gives Sunrise the chance to make a 3rd season by themselves. You just got the best news for Big-O and you are complaining? You otaku morons. You're so worried about your precious anime you don't see good news biting you in the ass.
And, as much a Big-O fan I am, I would sacrifice ANY show for Cartoon Network to be rid of anime for good.

...Stop trying to get banned.
I actually think with out support and money backing it, Sunrise may not do it.

I'm not joking with you idiots. You wait and see, CN is doing a good thing by giving up Big-O.

DUH!!! If this comunity is sooooooooooo dedicated to a Season 3, this is what they need to do. Leave CN alone. Start E-Mailing Sunrise.

To put the thread BACK ON TRACK -
Let's get to work, folks. It's our pride being insulted here, so we have to answer back.
(Hell, fans kept bringing back Scott Bakula shows, and nobody ever liked those. Big O should be a little easier.)

lol I liked those shows :p
But anyways, I was one of those crazy kids that got people to sign a petition to bring Sailor Moon to CN, and that worked. I'm willing to do it again..

No season 3, huh? For some reason, this recent news doesn't seem upsetting yet good news at all. What I am still upset about is the fact that CN is going to stop showing as much anime (according to the Save Big O site) as they use to just because there wasn't enough support.
I kind of see where Johnny is getting the whole idea. Sunrise is partly to blame because they made Big O. However, it is also true that CN funded the money (and perhaps helped made season 2) for the second season.
I guess I am saying that both companies are to blame.
Anyway, I hope the Save Big O site will perhaps get more fans into Big O and make CN realize that there is support for this series.

Sorry if I'm repeating something, I only read the first couple posts before what AS said really got to me. This really does piss me off. First, they mock big O at their "web cam party". Then they ACTUALLY mess up by not airing the final episode. Now, they announce that they want to step away from anime???
I could have dealt with the simple fact that there would be no more Big O. IMO, I am, let's say, at peace with how season2 ended. I have all the dvds, and even some of the merchandise(figurines, etc.) that can hold me off. I really can't see how they want to stop it anyway, seeing how hmmm, OH YEAH, they helped finance a entire season due to it's fans demand!!!!

Just recently, I remember seeing Big O on a freaking cover of an anime mag, which I'm sure must be saying
something...
But thats not even the point. They want to stay away from anime in general, supporting Teh Funny cart00ns. Hey, I got a good idea! Take off Big O, take off Trigun, take off Lupin, and take off cowboy bebop for good!!!! And why stop there? LEt's fill in the slots with...Futurama, Family Guy...and ehhh...OH, how about 2 or so hours of Ed Ed and Eddy. I can see nothing but a boost in popularity from that move!

Well, they did say that they will stay away only from the action shows (anime). If they took out the comedy shows, they will lose the high ratings, so they wouldn't even dare risk that.
At any rate, I agree with you none the less on this matter. It's sad how at first they wanted a Saturday night only for anime, and now they don't anymore.

While I am always up for more comedy on Adult Swim, it is stupid to get rid of all anime. Unless research clearly shows that this will bring them more money, getting rid of anime should not be done.
However, if it does indeed bring them more money, then can you really blame them? Their goal, as sad as it is, is not to cater towards the people's wishes. It's to cater towards the advertising industries wishes and how more people will see their commercials.

Ignore him, Lupin IV, he's intentionally provoking everyone to keep his 'Rudest Member' standing.
The fact remains that Cartoon Network is following in the footsteps of the Sci-Fi Channel. I know many of you here remember when the Sci-Fi Channel actually had good programming, they also had Anime Week during the summers and Saturday Morning Anime for a year or two. Then they got a new programming director and all the good shows were kicked off along with the anime - now all they have are self-produced crap movies and Stargate.
The Cartoon Network has actually been borderline in the areas of respectability and class. With the dumping of anime in general, they will lose a sizable precentage of their intelligent adult audience and let it be replaced by children and mentally-challenged adults (if you're not over bathroom humor by the time you're out of your teens, there may be a serious mental problem).
However, I would like to take a look at their list of sponsers for the next six months or so and see what demographic the sponsers are wanting CN to aim for. That may be the answer right there of why we're losing the better shows.

Sadly, I must agree with you on this. This has been always the case with the media. Basically if it sells, they will keep it. If not, why keep it any longer?
And yes, I remember the Sci-Fi and its Anime Week. Now I wish they had kept that and added some new good shows.

Ah, I hate being right.
I told you all they were phasing out anime...
Well...looks like I'm going to be short of cash for awhile. (Anime DVDs)

And another thing, why are you even bothering to complain to CN? If they are so bad, why not contact Sunrise like I said?

I am honest when I am "rude". I really hate anime, I really support CN, I really could care less if I lose my title.

Wasn't there talk that Big O had some of the best ratings EVER for Cartoon Network at night? I may be confused, but I thought some of the anime shows were providing better ratings than most everything else.
(Although, I can see the weighing between cost and ratings. It sounds like it’s much cheaper to put on the comedy shows than to buy or produce anime. Animation quality does not seem to be the priority in shows like ATHF and Sea Lab, where writing and jokes are the main thrust of entertainment. I can see the business decision in choosing cheap shows over anime.)
Another thought: Until just a few years ago, Cartoon Network was the only source of anime programming. Now Fox and WB have acquired a lot of younger audience anime, while Tech TV (which I wish I could get) is bringing stuff like Last Exile. And has ADV created their All-Anime channel yet? Now that other networks are showing anime, CN doesn't have the clout it used to. I can't see CN getting rid of all anime in the immediate future (upcoming GitS, Read or Die(

), etc.), but they seem to be looking elsewhere to fill their schedule (Miguzi instead of Toonami, changes to Adult Swim, etc.).
I guess I should be thankful Cartoon Network helped popularize anime, starting with Robotech almost ten years ago. And I'm glad there's a growing availability of anime DVD's now. (It may just cost more. Oh well, I'll vote for anime with my pocketbook then.)
In the end, Big O was a fantastic anime. (My personal top favorite.) And like most anime, it did its magical run of 26 episodes. I'm thankful we got to see "Season 2." I can be at peace with the way it ended, coming up with my own theories.
