Big O - The Movie

I was curious about whether or not Big O fans wanted a Big O movie. I personally would like to see one. Of course, it would have to be animated by hand or computer, and have the original voice actors. In addition, it should actually have a plot that filled the time span, instead of a 30-minute episode spread into two hours. Finally, I fell that it should be something new, no old villains. Sorry fans of Beck, Schwarzwald, Alan, etc.

I might have said 'yes' had Season 2 been different...but I'm gonna say 'no' for now. I need the "AS optioned" 26 additional episodes (Season 3/4?) to finish off the series properly. Still, its a neat idea. But I need that Season 3 for an informed descision.

I'm not trying to be new with this one, just curious because I write screenplays in my spare time. This way I can decide whether or not to work with Big O.

Big O will be hard one to work with, not only do we really not know what the whole show is trying to say, its too similar to other works like Dark City, and Batman.

I think it should be a prequel....I mean it could show the begining of the series! The domes being built...how Gordon Rosewater came into power...Roger Smith...how the Bigs came to be...and then...the war... O.O
cool no?

Yes a prequel would be nice but I think a movie for a sequel or something that takes place in between episodes wouldnt be that good because there realy isnt anything to put into the movies then.

A movie needs to be more self-contained than an episode or a season, so it needs a different kind of story. There is so much mystery in Big O that there's no reason to assume that a prequel won't work because "we all know how it ends." For example, it could be a story about the young Roscoe and Kelly Fitzgerald and their Megadeus, set either just before the Event, just after, or bridging it. This could give us glimpses of things that, in spite of the intervening 40 years, could be picket up again in a Season 3.
In short, the many mysteries in Big O pretty much give the writers carte blanche about time and setting. The apparent reincarnation of the main characters also implies that the usual objection of, "But we want it to be about the characters we already know!" doesn't really apply, either.

This reminds me of the Cowboy Bebop movie that came out, I've seen it at Wal-mart, and the movie rental place but haven't picked it up yet... Im not much of a Bebop fan... How did it turn out?

The Bebop movie was great IMO.

Yeah,a movie would be cool...only if it had the right people in it.

As long as a movie didn't imply an either/or proposition for that 26-episode Season 3, I'd be in. I'm greedy that way. Why wish for half a loaf when you can wish for the whole grocery store?

If they don't do a Season 3, I can live with a Sequel Movie of Big Season 2 as long as it warps the viewers' minds;

like Dark City, Blade Runner, the EVA movies.

Like poetry. Like moving poetry,my friend.
Anyways,I'm gonna stick by my suggestion for an alternative to the events of Season 2 contained in a movie.
A fitting end for Schwarzwald,a less Eva-esque explanation of "the event",better animation, and a more solid plot.
God knows they can do it.They just aren't trying hard enough.

It would be like Lost Memory, but in movie form...
So, I guess "Yes"

Live action- maybe ( I ONLY ACCEPT ONE DIRECTOR FOR A LIVE ACTION VERSION : TIM BURTON! He did excellent on the first Batman movie, he captured the feel so well. He's dark yet has such a romanticised vision. Perfect for Big O, which is created in a gloomy neo-thirties world.)
Anime- Yes! I'd really like to see a good anime movie. While a live action film is enticing ( because of the press it would get). I'd much rather have a great anime film, rather than a bad big budget film that loses the essence of what the show is about.
