That's exactly what makes him the best of the bunch! Big O is almost unornamented, has little detailing, and in general radiates the attitude that armor, weapons, and skill are more important than paint and polish.

Where Big Fau and Big Duo Inferno give the impression of being ceremonial, parade-ground robots, Big O exemplfies the idea that combat is a serious, brutal business where results are what counts.

This exemplifies the American attitude towards combat, which had its best expression ever in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, where Indian Jones ended his opponent's display of fancy swordplay by shooting him.

Seriously!

Comeon his arms are giant pistons!

The whole reason I loved the megadei in the first place was that instead of power rangers or other giant robots, they brought to us a giant lumbering piece of metal whose signature attack was basicly just slam somthing with an increidble amount of force.

Sweatdrop the one I hate isn't on this list. My least favorite was that Glinda thing for two reasons. For one, it looked like an eighteen-foot prostitute. And probably most important of all, I watch the show because of the psychological film noir elements, not because of the bot wars; that hulking joke only killed the bot wars even more for me.

I mean, if we're going to have to sit through people like Glinda, what's preventing us from shouting "Banzai!" when a megadeus gets aggressive and just going to bed, since we're usually watching them late at night?!

And the idea of shooting your arms at someone in the form of big, slow, harmless torpedoes is about the stupidest thing I've ever seen

Agreed, and it didn't work very well for Big Fau in the end either. 'Course, that technique is an old Giant Robot staple, going back to Mazinger Z. But it would make more sense if, say, the forearm was still connected via a cable. (a la Master Gundam's Distant Crusher)

aww man thanks for reminding me guys.. those arm things were such a huge dissapointment.

Oh yeah and glinda sucked too.

are we supposed to believe wayneright designed and built such an agile and ugly looking megadeus without anyone ever knowing?
Cecil XIX 08-11-2004 05:53 PM
Did anyone ever know anything about the megadei before before they appeared?

She wore sunglasses, so no one recognized her.

I voted Big V, but that's just because I've only seen the that episode once or twice and I can't remember what it looks like.

Originaly, there was supposed to be a big whip/sword fight, but Mr star was having a visit from Mr hangover, and asked "Can't I just shoot him?"

And so the American public was cheated out of an awesome fight.

I dont like Big Duo inferno, mainly becasue of the stenchosity of the pilot. I hate Alan and dont think he is a cool character at all.
TrueDominus 09-27-2004 09:08 PM
i voted Big Duo Inferno

Booooooooooooooooooooring. The only cool thing about it is when it killed Alan and said "ye guilty"

otherwise it was incredibly lame.

I have an ongoing fued with Castor_Aries over who is cooler at the AS forums:

Schwarzwald or Alan.

(everyone knows its ol' crispy)
Hobodoken 09-27-2004 09:53 PM
Damn right!
Schwarzwald, the greatest man to walk Paradigm.
Schwarzwald, the bringer of Truth.
Schwarzwald, the Domineus of the Red Megadeus.
Schwarzwald, the greatest.
Schwarzwald, the greatest.

I should write down more of the crap I think of...

An improvement, in my opinion. If you're in a fight worth fighting, it's dishonorable to hold back in any way.

On another note, is there any chance we could sticky this thread? It seems like it's the type of question that might come up again in another thread.

The actual story was slightly different, as can be seen here.

The only good was that it killed alan. otherwise it had a lame design. Red Face

Well...at least I'm not the least favorite. Sweatdrop

I think I voted for Big Duo Inferno, but that was a while ago...
