What do you HATE about Anime

I will start off this topic, I often watch a lot of anime, and there are common themes or common actions that I just HATE very much. One thing that I hate is when the women try and change the monster the hero is. For instance when Kenshin was told he had no way to defeat some of his former pals, he went beack to the way he used to be and was going to kill them, but Ms. Megumi kept yelling his name trying to tell him not to kill them. I also can't stand when the woman is very wek in the cartoon and needs to get saved in the cartoon. For once I would like the woman to get killed because the hero can't always be in two places at once, either stay out of the way or take care or yourself. I am watching the last few episodes of Getter Robot, and I really hate that nobody wants to kill the enemy, eventhough it is clear it is no longer human or that it cares about there lives. I think I have made my point so I will leave it at that. Hopefully I am not the only one that hates certain things in anime.

This isn't really limited to anime, and it certainly doesn't apply to all of them, but I hate the fact that female characters have to be so dull. Too often they're just pretty girls who are attracted to the main male. They have no hobbies or other interests. Other times they're just some cute fool for comic relief...but why can't more women be ethnic stereotypes, fat slobs, or dislikeable assholes? Those are always my favorite males...

I despise the Tenchi Syndrome in anime (e.g., guy is surrounded by four or more prospective girlfriends but is too much of a pansy to bite the bullet, pick one, and tell the others to shove off). Can we say wish-fulfillment? It's like, no, this doesn't exist for fanboys to vicariously live out their doomed fantasies at all, what are you talking about? </bitter>

The only instance of hardcore Tenchi Syndrome ever done right was Makoto from El-Hazard, and that was because he KNEW what he wanted all along. None of this "I'm gonna be a big wussy and pretend I'm not interested in anyone so I won't have to take some responsibility" crap.

... Wow. I guess I have a bigger issue with this than I thought. >_>;

To be fair, I think the reverse scenario (one girl, tons of guys) is equally stupid. It just doesn't happen, folks.

The giant, bug-eyes. Do they really have to be so big? All the time? Everytime? It can be really...



...Irritating...



...Gender-confusing...



...And just plain hideous.

Just because it's anime doesn't mean it needs to have eyes the size of windshields. Jeezy-creezy.

I hate that a lot of anime is really moody and tries to be deep but comes off as self-righteous and confusing.

Let's take Shinji from Evangelion. The fate of the world is in his hands, but he doesn't feel like piloting.

I know, I know, piloting the Eva causes him pain. But the friggin' WORLD is on the line. Wuss.

I hate the massive amount of shows where a character has to train monsters/paper cards with magical powers to fight other monsters/paper cards with magical powers. I used to like Pokemon until Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Duel Masters, Mon World, and *shudder* Fighting Foodons came out.
I also hate when people get embarassed or someone else does something stupid and they just fall over with their legs facing up in one choppy motion.
I ,too, hate gender-confusion, and to some degree the bug eyes. Sometimes they're cute, but (as seen in the last pic on Miss Samwise's post), they're horrendously ugly and ridiculously looking.
But what I hate beyond anything else is how Gundams/Dragonball Z retards use their most powerful weapon as a last resort. If I had to fight some stupid villain, I wouldn't just ounch him while he kills my friends. I'd blast him with an atomic strike that would vaporize him. Seriously.

Regarding the spineless hero syndrome:
If they devoted a mind rape scene directed at Shinji, which featured him being killed brutally multiple times then I would be happy.

I sincerely hope that the character in the second picture of Mistress-Samwise's post is a girl. By any chance that person is a guy, I'm at a loss for words on the facial features and hair. As for the big eyes, they do get too big at times and that's a bit distracting. Ok, really distracting and annoying.

I'm sorry, Bismarck. It's a guy. He's called Shuichi Shindo from the anime Gravitation. And the show's also a shounen-ai.

I hate it when they blather on about some philisophical ideal that really doesn't mean anything at all just so that they can have something "deep" to offset mindless action. Also, I find fan service with no point obnoxious.

one thing that really bothers me is how some anime characters constanly say someones name without a sentence to follow it. Example, how many times has Kagome said "Inuyasha" in a whisper without saying anything else...and the same goes for Inuyasha (sticking with the same show in the example). He's said "Kagome" so much that I can basically predict what he's going to say.

That god that Lupin doesn't do that too often, and I don't reallly see it at all in Big O. In Trigun it's Meryle that says "Vash" too much, which does sound somehow romantic and all, but really who would do that in real life???? It's stupid!!


Also the big buggy eyes irratate me...that's just really creepy. Another thing are the face faults and those stupid "falling-out-ofembarassment/stupidity" poses...Face faults are kinda ok, like in The Greatest Villain (CLASSIC! ) but doing them too much like in Pokemon is just stupid and annoying. The legs in the air thing (the falling pose) is also ussed way too much when it shouldn't be. I mean in Pokemon it's used in every episode...at least in LupinIII it's when they just normally fall down that it happens (like when Lupin was crushed by the split pool table in "Rats to You", and when Zenigata was hit with the painting in "The Case of the Risible Dirigible"....those were funny and timed well).

As I was saying then you have a these exotic looking women that have oversized Breast and that are either Deadly Assasins , Ninjas
or have petty Super powers and this is in almost every anime .
it's ok to add it but this is every anime that the directors be doing
that .
you got Excel Saga and then you have Saber Marionette ,and
the list goes on and on
Then you have the Stupid Anime Smile with the eyes closed
and everything ,and the infamous word that every anime you're
going to here this with a curious remark , "HUH?"

Yeah I know what you mean, I was watching Mobile Fighter G Gundam, when a guy I knew thought of a drinking game, where you drink everytime someones name is called without any follow up. Good thing we didn't do it, or else we would have been drunk in mere minutes.

I guess it is just me, I certainly don't mind the big busty women as long as the anime looks good color wise. I don't like seeing anime colors that aren't sharp and crisp, basically the exact opposite of Thundercats, Silver Hawks, and Voltron. Mind you those are classics, but they were made in the Golden Age, anime now doesn't... Shouldn't look like that. Also the big eyes don't really bother, I guess for the most part I don't even pay attention to the features, I am either paying attention to the story, or I am at my computer doing something else, because I lost interest but still listening to them speak.

um. have you ever seen Slayers? but anyways I agree with you. but i also hate it when the creator drags out the anime when they trow in episodes that have absolutly nothing with the plot i mean they are funny and all but sometimes it gets really annyoing ya knoe...

I hate when animes drag on and on and on and on even after the main villain has been vanquished, and every saga is just a mildly rehashed rewrite of what's happened before. *coughDBZcough*

What I really hate is when two characters are running at each other and there is only like 10 feet between them when they start. Yet in those 10 feet each of them manages to tell there whole life story and also claim that they will be the ones to win the fight.
