Ohohoho, I got tons of stuff today!

Today, my mom and I went to Woodbridge Mall, and went nuts. We bought so much stuff. First, we went to Walden Books. Buy 3, the the 4th manga free. Hellz yeah.

I got Those Who Hunt Elves volumes 4,5, and 6, and then Yu-Gi-Oh volume 4. Also, they had the specail edition Inuyasha moive (Came with hologram card), as well as a special Inuyasha boxset. It came with the volume 17 manga, and a special demon formed Inuyasha figurine. Got 'em both.

Then I got Super Milk-Chan volume 2 'Milk Shake'. Tommorow we have a flea market, and if I make enough money, I'm buying Cutey Honey volume 1 (1973) from Yesasia.com. And then my sister is going to see if she can get me a Region 2 DVD Player.

Today I bought Evangelion manga vol 6. I'm slowly collecting these as I find them. They're incredibly hard to find. All I'm missing now is vol. 7. The only place I've been able to find these things on was animenation.com. They have great stuff but shipping's like 5 bucks, and since I live in florida they want to charge me sales tax. Highly annoying. So I'll just duck my head in a book store every so often to see if it shows up.

I think my only problem with manga so far is that I've counted 3 separate versions of the EVA manga.

I apparently have the first version, flipped, and book-sized. :/

Yeah, I saw a vol 6 about a month ago at a Borders but it was one of the older editions, the ones that are flipped and about the size of a trade paperback. It was tempting, but I refuse to buy odd-sized manga if I can help it. With Azumanga and Princess Mermaid there's no choice, but since there's a normal looking (and far prettier) edition of Evangelion I'm okay with just waiting until I can find the right version.

I almost bought a few manga today, but worries about propper funds prevented the sale ^_^ I've got about $400 owed to me right now by various employeers, I'll go on a mini-spree once my bank account's been revitalized. Big Grin

Oh! By Princess Mermaid do you mean Junko Mizuno's morbid retelling of The Little Mermaid? If so, where did you see it?

No bookstores over here, have it. =(

I had to buy Mizuno Junko's Princess Mermaid from amazon.com, I haven't seen it in any store. I couldn't even find it in the big mall down in Orlando.

It's an odd book (though I guess any book that's worth reading is). The story and artwork are for an older audience, but the dialogue, the feel of it, is the sort of thing you'd find in a children's book. The overall result is a surreal and the gives the feeling of really in between two worlds; that of children and adults. It ends up coming across as a true demented fairy tale. And it's in color!

Weird color. The color's are muted and Mizuno will change the characters' hair and eye color from frame to frame. The art would be easier to understand if it were typical black and white manga. But still; I recommend it. ^_^

May, I want to get this so bad. A couple of months ago, when it first came out, Borders had ONE copy, but it was all beat up.

Of course now, I never see the dang thing. I see Hansel and Gretal, and Cinderrila (sp) but never, ever Princess Mermaid.

also, because I'm a geek and have no life I want to tell everyone why it's called 'Princess Mermaid' instead of 'The Little Mermaid'... Apparently, in Japan the story is normally known as 'Ningyo Hime' which translates to 'Princess Mermaid'. The 1978 adaption of 'The Little Mermaid' by Toei is even called 'Anderson Douwa: Ningyo Hime

...

I'm done now >.>;;

Either way, I'm going to get two Azumanga DVD's because I want to see new episodes! Smile )

Later,
Trisa

I can't wait until october 12th, I've been watching Azumanga non-stop this week. I hope they do the 'I often speak ill of Tomo. In fact, I do not like her at all" joke in the anime. Tomo's counter was hilarious ^_^

I'm also curious how ADV is going to devide up the last episodes amoung the last two DVDs. So far three of the four DVDs have five episodes on them. Typically, with 26 six episode animes, the distributers will only put five episodes on two of the DVDs. I've read there are a few little azumanga shorts made, maybe ADV is planning to put these on the last DVD to as an episode instead of putting it as a feature.

The "buy 3, get 1 free" thing ROCKS. My dad's got a preferred reader's card at WaldenBooks that I think I use more than him. The cashiers there look up the card without me asking anymore now, if that says anything. That's the only store I've ever been in where the employees recognize me. Big Grin

So, today I picked up Trigun Maximum 2, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle 2, HanaKimi 1 (I thought I had bought vol 1 last time, and it was actually vol 2), aaand just to see what all the hype is about, Naruto 1.

Tsubasa is a really cute series. I'm not a rabid CLAMP fan or anything, but I enjoyed Card Captor Sakura and Rayearth and what I read of X, and I'm familiar with their stories.. so it's kind of neat to play "spot the CLAMP celebrity" while reading this new story.. which is good and bad. Good because it's fun, bad because it's distracting from the actual story. It has really nice art, though, and I'm such a sucker for cute things, so I enjoy it.

You guys should say if they are DVDs or manga volumes, cause i can't tell.

I went to the mall today and walked inside Sam Goody. Didn't find anything that got me hyped up. I did see 2 new animes I haven't seen before: Gunparade March Vol. 2 and Nadesico Movie. I didn't have enough money for either so i passed. They price it too high though! $29.98 for an Hour 1/2 movie? SHEEZ!!!! Crying

You now know why I buy all my anime DVDs online!

Yesterday, I recieved my lovable Black Jack: Trauma in the mail. I say... It just keeps getting better and better each episode! I highly, highly recommend the Black Jack anime for anyone looking for something unique to watch. Big Grin

I've been saving up for Tokyo Godfathers lately. However, I've had my eye on Matsumoto stuff for a while now (particularly anything to do with the Captain Herlock character Big Grin ). The only thing within my range is Gun Frontier, but no place seems to have a review for it. But I'd much rather get Captain Herlock before I get Gun Frontier.

Sigh... It really bites not having any money. Crying There's only so much I can milk off of my parents.

Oohhh!!

Umino made lots of money today at the Flea Market, and bought Cutey Honey (1973) volume 1 from Yesasia. And from GKWorld, figures of Honey Kisaragi and Sister Jill.

And with 50 bucks left over. Yea, I'm happy. =D
