Since my brother was ordering a few anime items online for himself this evening, I asked him to get me a
Final Fantasy VII wallscroll with Cloud Strife on his motorcycle and sword in hand. It looks like I broke the promise I made to myself recently against buying anime merchandise for the time being.

^_^ So you broke that promise too, eh?
'Othello' volume 2 was what did it for me.
Dang seductive anime and manga, taking all our money

GetBackers Volume 1:G & B on the case (great stuff, even if the dub suffers from 5.1 - 2.0 down mixing issues)
Gad Guard Volume 1:Lightning
and
Hanaukyo Maid Team La Verte Vol 1:How do you do, Master? + art box (+ very nice looking pencil boards

)
After much agonizing I bought Samuri Champloo vol. 1. Just the DVD on it's own came with a music cd, the box set only comes with a bandana and it's $8 more. Funny that, huh? Anywho, I'm a little apprehensive about it because the last anime I watched that bragged about having people from Cowboy Bebop involved turned out to be a real disappoint, but I'm willing to give them another try (Samuri Champloo only has the same director as CB). I'm listening to the music right now. It has it's charms.
edit: Score! Steven Blum's in this one! I was actually hoping for that, but I'm not really surprised. I just love anime.

I figure if there's a place to ask this question, this thread is it. Does anyone have any opinions on the Chobits anime? Good, bad, indifferent, worth/not worth the money? I saw it at Best Buy for a reasonable price and thought I'd get some opinions on it before I made the committment. Especially since I've only skimmed through one volume of the manga. Thanks for any/all input. ^_^
Oh, and purchase of Rurouni Kenshin and G Gundam Collections 1 are in the works, plus my impending birthday = anime frenzy.

I bought the mangas before I bought Chobits Vol. 1 w/box. It's a bit different from the manga. More cute moments (especially since they're moving) but it somehow seems different. It also lacks some of the visual ecchiness. Other people that reviewed the series say it's somewhat simplistic for a long time, then they cram the last few episodes with plot and more plot. Personally, I don't think I'll buy the series unless I get some kind of exceptional deal, and only if I have the cash to spare. For me, that means waiting until tax time is over.
My own recent purchases are:
Vampire hunter D
Final Fantasy: the spirits within
The Animatrix
Ghost in the shell 2: Innocence
R.o.d. the TV vol. 4

On the figure-buying front, I bought two new MSiAs yesterday, the US releases of Launcher Strike and Buster Gundam. $7.01, all told. First time I'd seen new MSiAs anywhere in months.

Got my Animerica and Newtype in the mail today. There was a promo for Kekko Kamen on the DVD (already saw it at advfilms.com), an ad in Newtype, and a review on it.
I can't till this comes out, it's from Go Nagai (Cutie Honey, Mazinger Z, Devilman) and it's pretty much a spoof on superhero genre. Kekko Kamen is a hero wearing nothing but a mask, gloves, and boots. XD

Damn. I didn't get my Animerica today, err, yesterday... v___v (And I don't even get Newtype at all.)
Anyway! I just got a blast from the past,
Arcadia of My Youth. It's real old-school--1982, to be exact--but is still pretty darn cool. I can appreciate it since it involves the really cool Captain Harlock, whom I went ga-ga over from my previous encounter with him in
Captain Herlock. (As a note, "Harlock" and "Herlock" are the same word. Trust me.)
Funny, you'd think that
Arcadia of My Youth would work as a source of background for Harlock since it talks about the pasts of characters and the such, but in reality, it doesn't at all. The continuity of Matsumoto's whole, little universe practically doesnt exist! Almost none of the stories, from the 70s to now, tie together in least, abeit from recurring characters like Harlock and Tochiro. Kinda wierd, huh?
I am currently waiting on pins and needles for my next invigorating installment of
Black Jack and my copy of
Tokyo Godfathers, an absolutely freaking awesome movie that you should see or else have your eyes gouged out by rusty razors coated with arsenic.
