I just received the 4th (last) DVD for the
Gundam 08th MS Team.
This is my favorite Gundam series of all time by far - for the memorable characters, the conflict of war at the level of the "grunts," the majestic orchestral soundtrack, and the absolutely awesome mecha action sequences. Some of the best I've ever seen - and very realisitc - as much as giant robots can be realisitc. It's sort of like G.I.Joe meets Platoon meets Gundam.
Here's a link to a pic of the DVD cover:

Anywho, the reason I purchased this one (I've got all the CN episodes recorded on video) is because Cartoon Network never aired the final episode - #12. It's more like an epilogue to the series - taking place well after the end of the one year war and featuring only Michel from the team and Kiki - the village girl. Anywho, it's an interesting episode - nicely resolving the mystery if Shiro and Aina survive - and the impact of the war. Plus, I've got a inkling that Kiki and Michel become a couple!
My package from CDjapan came. I feel like I should say 'finally came' but it shipped so quickly.
I got something really cool ^_^

And a
close up of the DVD if anyone's interested.
It's a DVD of all the pokémon openings and closings from 1997 through to 2004. Even includes 'Glory Day'. Can finally get a clear look at Kojiro's face in that one clip. . .
Anywho, Japanese pokémon music is
really addicting. The music's beautiful, of professional quality and lots of fun. The american pokémon music takes itself too seriously, most of the songs are definitely aimed at little testostone-pack boys. The Japanese music is upbeat and silly. Many of the songs are backed by coruses of little kids. Then you have other songs that are just so serene.
But there's this one song on that DVD with Nyasu (Meowth) that's just. . . @_@ I must have it. It's called 'Polka a Dolka'. As soon as I'm sure there's money in my bank account I'm buying it's single along with 'Maeraki Rocket Gang'.
All the clips on the DVD only have patial versions of the songs, I'm trying not to listen to 'Polka A Dolka' on the DVD because once I start I can't stop. And everytime I think of it I flinch. Seriously, this stuff is great ^_^

edit: And as I suspected, I was able to change the region encoding for my region using DVDShrink. Let the out of region DVD purchasing begin

Before I begin, I would like to say that I am supremely covetous of IanC and his Asuka swimsuit model...model.
That said, I got Outlaw Star! The Perfect Collection, of course.
The Christmas money has yet to be spent, though. I have no earthly idea where to start. Should I get G Gundam, Rurouni Kenshin, Sailor Moon or the Big O CDs?
And the best part is, my birthday is at the end of January.

Prepare for trouble and make it double.
(Although I think for my birthday I'll ask for a CD-RW for my computer. That way I can watch stuff up in my room.)

Depends on which season of Sailor Moon you are considering. Me, I'd get Gundam of course, and Big O is good to have on DVD as not only can you watch it all at once and not have to wait a week for the next episode and have trouble understanding what may be going on, but you don't have to put up with little CN and/or AS logos in the corner.
