That was a really strange ramble. O.o
Anyway, the point isn't whether people will spam to increase their count, but that Legends should be people who are really well known. Like Evan for example. Love him or hate him, you know him. I mean, no offense to Stevie, but I haven't seen much of him at all. I recall the screen name vaguely, but nothing really on that. So there's a quite obvious difference here. |
Seraphim, I think you do need to take into account the fact that you are a relatively recent member as opposed to Stevie. Those who have been here for a while (like myself) does know all of the Legends, whereas someone who might have joined later might not. Granted, some of the current Legends haven't posted as much as they once did, but I don't think that makes them any underserving of the title. |
Manji, Megadeus, ByranX (O.o;; SP?!), Stevie, Schwarzwald, Shaoblane, GK, Stryder, Nien/Kairi/Korova/Kokain/..., ___, The Big Omega, Outlaw Skull...

But that would mean also that if someone does something SO incredibly stupid that everyone remembers it. Thus being a "legend". So thats why I say that we have either mods or members vote on who gets in. |
No, that would just be too much work, and it's really un-needed. It also allows for a HUGE amount of favoritism.
And Evan: What? Your post makes no sense... I'm not clear what you mean by "No Side"

Those are the first generation of paradigm forum members (others notwithstanding...)
The more specific you get with rankings, the more you move to segmented community. Why do we have to keep classifying everyone at post level. YOu attain a certain level, that should be enough for you.
Kind of like in sports, you make the hall of fame, thats it...there's no other place to go...

It wouldnt be that much harder. Krang goes through all your posts when you apply to be a "Forum Legend". And if your someones favorite member then that means that you did something to get their respect right?

He can't possibly go through ALL your posts. =p If he does, he'd have a fun time with me. By the time this warning is removed (if it's removed

) I'll have over 2,000 posts. Anyways, I don't think there's a scale of legendaryiness.
But if you're someone's favorite member and everyone hates you, you might have just gotten in good with that one person.

Outlaw Skull was know to end his posts with "Negotiation Result:..."

Once more, I'd like to remind everyone to get back on track. We've already settled the question concerning the Forum Legends; regardless of your opinion on who deserves to be a Forum Legend and who doesn't, Krang has already told us what his decision regarding that group will be. Therefore, it is pointless to spend time justifying the change (as it has already been done) or devising new ways to provide membership (as I don't think these requirements will be changed anytime soon, and some of the alternate requirements that have been recently suggested aren't very practical...)
I think it would be much more beneficial if we focus on the current issue, which would be coming up with at least one, preferrably two new titles for the new user rankings which might be added.
That said, I will once again bump these names to the top, so that they don't get lost in the mess of posts below...

I never said they were undeserving, I meant that the increase was good, since anyone who has that many posts and were here for that long would have instant recognition - thus, truly legends. |
Well, it looks like the additional ranks are a go... did anyone have any other name suggestions? I came up with several for both the 750 and 5k marks, on the previous page. |
As did I. I suppose I'll post the names I came up with again to keep it fresh: Mythic, Mystic, Divine, Preeminant, Supreme, Quintessencial.
These are names Ms. Zola came up with:
| quote: |
Phenomenal for 750? Superb, amazing, astonishing? Incredible, awesome, excellent?
How about Mythical for 5000?
Deified? Dominus? Megadeus? Director? |

You spelled it right.
Hmm. Makes me kind of wish I knew the guy. Is he formally gone or what?
EDIT: Well, back on topic...
Dominus of Megadeus would be a good highlevel name.

I believe the final decision was an increase for the custom group to:
- 1,500 Posts
- Five Months Membership
from
- 1,000 Posts
- Three Months Membership

Not to be overly critical, but it sounds like the ideas are still in the works...and nothing has been narrowed down to a decision...
EDIT: Now that my perspective has been said, I think Legendary or Forum Legend should be reserved for the final, great title, meaning nothing comes after that. If you are a legend, or legendary, what more could you be?
Amazing, superb, etc. Id probably reserve those for the ranking relating to the 750 post level....

I still think it should be supreme Member or something. Because you never know...I MIGHT just make it to 10000 O_o!!!!!!!! and when we DO reach that...we'll need another name (that's when Dominus of Megadeus could come in

)

Maybe user levels, or registration dates can be somehow worked into the equation......
Someone who has been here since the start will be denied a rank, while a person who posted less who joined yesterday and spammed his way to the top will recieve one.

I think the only decision we really need to make is names.
I think it should be...
750 - Superb Member
??? - Mythic Member
???? - Mystic Member (Not sure about this one)
???? - Divine Member
???? - Supreme Member
???? - Quintessential Member
5000 - Dominus of Megadeus
7000 - Director

I said that already hehe.
But since we have the same idea(sorta) thats 2 people who like that idea.

but that doesn't make sense seraphim
The post count requirements are doubled in size as you go up a rank. So going from 5000 to 7000 is kinda 1) cheap and 2) pointless because you get it too soon.

I don't think it's really possible to spam up to 1,500 posts in one day. Or even several months. Maybe 1,000 is spam-possible, but certainly not 1,500. That's why the system works so well. Also consider the time - you must be here for five months before you can get it. Even if you made 1,500 posts in a month, you'd still need to wait until 5 months have passed.

I wouldnt incorporate "Director" or "Dominues" into the equation, I know, it relates to the theme of the forum...the other rankings dont have anything to do with the forum, they state a level of membership followed by the term "member". Incorporating director or dominues would be inconsistent....

you know I think FP's trying to make a point here o.o;;; ...yep I do
I think it should be Supreme Member (as I've said since my first post o.O;;; )

I think Dominus of Megadeus should be 10,000. I mean, it's the highest you can think of.
And Evan - going from 5,000 to 7,000 is 2,000 posts... that's actually a lot.
