Although crappy, that was funny and memorable. "Let's kick some ICE!" I'll never forget that.
Batman: Begins, on the other hand... It was kinda bland.

Whatever, I may be a bit biased since I started this thread....
But, I thought BB begins rocked my face off.
It was still a comic book movie, but it somehow managed to gain some respectablity and minimize the cheese associated with CB movies.

Well, it wasn't campy. But it was definatly still hella cheesy. "Why do we fall? To pick ourselves back up."
I kinda like comic movies to have a bit of craziness though. Batman and Batman Returns were awesome because they were dark, but still had a wacky feel. I mean, Penguin took control of the Batmobile with an arcade machine. It's not realistic, but its colorful and cool. In this movie they felt like everything needed to be explained, right down to where Batman got the pointy ears for his mask. I guess they were really scared that some nerd would say, "Hey, that's not even possible." If they treated it more like a comic and didn't give a damn what people who don't understand them think, it would be more fun.

Ok, well I just saw it. I have to admit, it was great, though the only Batman knowledge I know is from the animated series.
spoiler (highlight to read):
Scarecrow's "defeat" was GAAAAAY. For such a cool character, (fire eyes, etcetc) he gets tazer'd and pulled away on his horse. Pffft. I really thought he was going to pop up one last time, but nope. Damn, oh well.
The Bat-tank became less of an eyesore throughout the movie, and almost
-almost- looked fitting during the chase.
spoiler (highlight to read):
Apparently, we'll be seeing the Joker in a few years. That should be interesting.
I thought Commissioner Gordon looked perfect.

I never said he's not coming back...that was the last time he appears in the movie though, and I dunno, i was expecting more fight from him, i guess.

Btw, if anyone can find a picture of Scarecrow with his eyes on fire as well as the horse, I'd be much abligded!

I just saw it. It was entertaining, but filled with tons of action movie cliches. The beginning moved a little fast for me, too.

Well, I just came back from seeing it, and it was indeed awesome. Raz al Ghaul and Scarecrow where great villains. All though Scarecrow was tuned into a pansy near the end, I was hoping for more from him. The Bat-Tank was great too, so was the whole origin of his toys and his training.
One thing that struck me, was that I thought it was supposed to follow the story of the other movies. And basically that Joker doesn't show up for a while (Although I love the fact that he was mentioned), are they starting a whole new story?

I noticed that too. It completely betrayed the original Batman. I was upset.

I'm pretty sure that it is a completely different timeline/version of the story... So... Yeah...

yup complete restart.
You can tell because it contradicts the previous films, for example the joker only kills batmans parents in the first movie, begins kept the comics killer. (Joe Chill).

I believe I am going to die of happiness because of the movie.

Clearly, this is Batman as he was ment to be.
"Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up."
It's nice to see a movie with suich truth. I can't tell you how wise that line is, and how the whole movie benefits from it.

What striked me as the most surprising was the strength of the dialogue in the movie. When I think of the movie, lines like that come to my mind before any action or fight scenes do. For instance, Alfred telling Bruce that he never gave up on him.

It's the little moments of interaction between the characters like that that make the movie all the more powerful.

I guess I'm in the minority who felt ashamed of this line. Give me "Villains are a superstitous and cowardly lot." That "Why do we fall?" thing was such BS. He's not supposed to ever question quitting, even if he's causing as much harm as good (Dark Knight Returns style). I always hear people talking about how they love Batman because he's "Such a human character." Batman is not a normal human. He can be beaten in a fight, but he has super-human amounts of willpower. They shouldn't try to make him Spiderman.

Yes. One emo superhero is enough.
I saw the movie yesterday, and I was quite pleased. I enjoyed the ending with
spoiler (highlight to read):
the little calling card bit. Go Joker! Also...seeing Gordon in the Bat-tank was fun.
That last shot with the camera panning around him as the sun rose was superb as well. |
I, however, was shocked(heh) at the demise of Scarecrow. That was a tad anti-climactic and made me groan. Ras Az Ghul was portrayed quite well...and the League of Shadows was quite interesting. I wished they would have elaborated more.
Good movie. But then again...I go to a movie to see a movie, as opposed to some of you who go and always come out with a list of complaints.
I am probably the only person who enjoyed Matrix Revolutions.

I saw batman a while back but sadly i slept through a bit of cause i was pretty tired. So i went back yesterday and huzah the movie is glorious. In every aspect i can say the movie is just near perfection. The acting was superb and Christian Bale delivers the best batman performance out of all the movies thus far. The story is amazing with enough plot twists to keep you thining even after the movie is over. The thing that really caught my eye is the fact that unlike most movies these days this Batman movie doesnt use to much CGI or computer animated scenes i think it is. Raw action with real people. Im curious to know if Christian Bale did the stunts himself or a stunt double did most of the work...Maybe thats a stupid question who knows.

You're not alone. I enjoyed it too.
I also enjoyed Batman Begins! Very cool superhero movie. Maybe not as good as Spider-man 2 in my opinion, but still cool nonetheless.
I liked the ending and the huge potential for a sequel. I think the next movie will be even better.
Wait. Will they be doing a sequel or was this movie just supposed to serve as a prequel to the original Batman movies?

Even though BB didn't explode at the box office, there will be sequel and they are not going to touch the original 4 films.
So far they only confirmed Cristian Bale, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine.
(Rumor is they're trying to get rid of Katie Holmes and she won't be in the sequel).
But I won't rest until they confirm the return of Nolan and Gary Oldman.
