Yeah...I want to see how they're going to pull that off. Hopefully it will be fantastic.
And Katie Holmes was released from her contract for the next film because all her publicity with fiance Tom Cruise got in the way of the publicity of the Batman film (even though I didn't know they were engaged until recently). Oh well.

I saw Batman Begins yesterday with my brother, cousin, and best friend. I learned two things…Batman Begins is quite possibly the finest Batman film and oh yes…I’m in love with Christian Bale. “When are they going to get to him becoming Batman?” A friend commented to me. I was impatient because I knew what was to come. When Batman first appeared onscreen I got chills. They captured Batman perfectly in Batman Begins.
Batman Begins isn’t by any means a kid’s movie. Not just because of the violence or imagery but the dialogue and feel goes beyond that of a superhero film. The dialogue is so powerful and really adds substance to this tale but the most perfect line in the film by far is “I’m not going to kill you, but I don’t have to save you.” It was so perfect because it defines Batman.
Everyone was perfectly cast. Katie Holmes did a solid portrayal of Rachel Dawes, the childhood friend, however I would agree with the decision to nix her from the second film. The character represents Bruce Wayne’s childhood but not who he has become now. Thus the whole speech at the end (it was a good speech) but it was clear to me that she wasn’t going to form a relationship with him. There was also the matter of the whole Holmes/Cruise romance…it’s getting annoying now. Strange what the media gives importance to nowadays they just let them alone…if they want to get married good for them! Christian Bale deserves some spotlight…he is a fantastic actor; I’m completely enamored by his portrayal of Bruce Wayne/ Batman.
I think either Selina Kyle or Talia would be a better fit story wise. Selina Kyle because of the whole duality spiel and because of her comparisons to Batman…in the more recent comics Selina Kyle’s parents both die ( both of their own hand pretty much), she really does find herself in a desperate situation and resorts to crime which sort of ties into the ‘other side’ of criminality. Talia because…hell her dad is Ras Al Ghul!
About the Joker card at the end….I jumped. The adrenaline was still pumping from the film but when I saw the Joker card I pretty much was ready to run out of the aisle and do a dance, Napoleon Dynamite style. I wonder who is going to get the honor. I heard rumors that it might be Mark Hamill.

Hopefully word has..gotten around it isn't. See I'd like to go see this movie..but guess what I didn't pay for.
Yeah, yeah. Yelling kids. I didn't walk up to the ticket booth, and say "Yeah, one for 'Loudmouth kids slap boxing while a movie plays in the background' "
Oh, or it'll be the lone old lady who INEXPLICABLY shows up. Because hey...I paid money to see the movie,
something has to go wrong right?
...Meh, who am I kidding. I'll wake up on saturday, decide it's more of a hassle to go than it's worth. And wind up seeing this on dvd...just like every other movie I have a sliver of interest in.
(Regardless, I still think it looks really good.)

HEHE!
I SAW BATMAN BEGINS, like two days ago. IT WAS HOT! I was GRINNING through out the entire movie because I was so excited and it turned out to be just as good as I thought it would be.
I think that is the best Batman movie yet and the group I was with thought so too! I knew a lot of stuff that was in the movie, just from this thread so the bit about the Joker was not a surprise but I really can't wait to see who they will get for him. The fact Ras Al Ghul was in the movie stunned me because until the day before, I didn't know. I knew who he was though almost immediately.
Christian Bale as Batman: GREAT MOVE! He easily pulled off the Bruce Wayne persona and the Batman persona perfectly. I was not disappointed. He dropped his voice to fight as Batman and he was just wonderful as Bruce Wayne. Brilliant casting (save for Katie Holmes....I'm kinda sick of that hype with "TomKat" so I'll be happy to see her go).
GummiBear, I second seeing Selena Kyle involved with Batman at some point. They are MADE for each other from everything I see and I think that is the ultimate coupling. It would make for a few interesting story lines.
Gosh, I enjoyed this movie sooooo much! I want to see it again sometime soon because....wow. The Scarecrow was made out to be a lot cooler and freakier than the comics or TV shows.
My favorite part was the scene where the Wayne's were killed. They changed the story line a little bit, but in a way, I think I agree with someone who said that it made him feel more guilty for their deaths. Anyway, I loved the image of young Bruce, with his dead parents. I've been saying that it's every comic book portrayal of the death right there on the screen. I almost cried. I seriously choked up.
GOOD MOVIE! And I'll be watching to see what the news with the next movie. I hope they spend time going into how the Joker became the Joker because, that would be WONDERFUL!

I saw Batman Begins the other day, and I'm seeing it again tomorrow. I can't believe how sweet it was. Everything was so perfect, which has already been said a billion times so I won't go much into it, but a few things. The new Batmobile? Sweetness. When Batman's seat rotated down and the vehicle went into missile launching mode... holy crap. Sweet. And Scarecrow? Easily the sweetest Batman villain ever,

and although I think he got what was coming to him when Batman sprayed the hallucinagen down his throat, having Katie Holmes shock him with a $2 keychain tazer and having him yelp and run away was a bit lame. I want a sequel with more Scarecrow! NOW!!!
|
For now, I'm gonna go out and get the original Batman and watch it until my brain collapses.

I forget if I mentioned it or not...but I've seen Batman Begins twice now...I actually saw it two days in a row with different people sometime last week.
My favorite character was definitely Dr. Crane...I wish he had been in it more.
Oh and I want glasses like his...because they were hot.

I don't think that picture is Mark... I was just happy that he is in the movie...
Yeah... That doesn't look like Mark...
So, I saw it again today, and I realized Scarecrow needs a lot more screen time. The next movie had better have Scarecrow have at least as much screen time as the Joker. And he needs the pointy hat. That would be so tight.
Scarecrow > al Ghoul

I agree. While Rhaz (sp?) was cool... his mustache had a bigger part in the movie than he did. It stole the show.
And for some reason I
really like the scene where Scarecrow bends down and says "Its... the Batman..."
...
So yeah, Scarecrow > al Ghoul.

Good, because Summer 2008 is way too far away. And the coat he's wearing looked MSPaint'd out.

Mark Hamill as The Joker and he does the voice of The Joker? YES! I COULD TOTALLY GO FOR THAT. Though, seeing him, I wonder how he'd look as The Joker. Don't care. Can't wait for the next movie!! GAH! Though, I'm only making an educated guess from everything you guys have been saying. *Shrugs*
Interesting list of actors...

I totally agree with Hamil=Joker. Just hearing his voice as the psyco will make me think i'm watching a live action version of the animated series
Ra's Al Ghul for some reason didn't come off to me as the villian, even though he was. Things between him and Wayne were just much more personal than between wayne and scarecrow though.
