Ugh, I'll probably see it but I'll be weeping for the death of the good name Star Wars once had. Lucas has gone insane in his old age, I swear...

Don't you know that Lucas wrote them in order of the series? He just produced them from Episode four and back and saved the first three for when there would be better techonolgy. He didn't write them resently.
Nyarlathotep 06-03-2004 12:51 PM
So he says. Somehow I just can't imagine Lucas all those years ago was thinking to himself "I'll name him Jar Jar Binks and he'll be a thinly veiled african american stereotype! That'll be great! And the second one will be called 'Attack of the Clones!' that's got to be the best title ever!" I also find it really hard to believe that he had the first three written way back when and not one bit of info of any of the plots leaked out before now. Unless he wrote them and immediately locked them in a safe until he began work on episode I (which also had a horrid subtitle), I'm not buying that. That he had a vague idea, I'll conceed, but it was probably nothing more than "explain clones wars, write more about Anakin."

Edit: Good point

Actually, the original Star Wars wasn't even called "Episode IV: A New Hope" until after the release of The Empire Strikes Back. They added the "Episode V" for effect, so the viewer felt like he or she was walking into the middle of a play.

I don't think he wrote it in order, otherwise the plot would be more coherent. However, xana, it's a possibility.

In Ep IV Obi-Wan says "I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid", but in Ep II he very clearly has one. What's with that?

I guess you could argue that he didn't technically own it, the Jedi Council did.
But still.....George is making it up as he's going along.

well that is what I heard, thought, he could of updated sence the 70's, but you know what kind of things they do just so people will go to see a movie and crap ( not like they needed to bribe me to see any of the Star Wars movies anyhow), but you know what I mean.

I was actually sort of dissapointed by the Special Editions. A lot of scenes were all ShInY and new but some still looked like crap.
If they change anything else...especially RotJ...I will declare war.
I think the only acceptable change would be to make Anakin's ghost look more like Hayden Christanssen.

Oh and Greedo Shooting First < Han Killing Greedo
xana_fae 06-03-2004 01:18 PM
ya for some reason, I am quite fond of the older episodes, for some reason the cheesy and cheap looking ( from todays perspective) are what made the movie then and what make them today. I was NOT fond of Episode II, that seemed like a filler if you ask me, like an expliation, so noone got confused about stuff. but anywho.
Nyarlathotep 06-03-2004 01:30 PM
The special editions drive me nuts! There are a few good things, I like the Dewbacks patrolling the dunes, the fact that the Outrider takes off from Mos Eisley (probably the only time Lucas acknowledged anything that he personally didn't write, does that mean Shadows of the Empire is canon now?), but Han shot first. No question. It was kill or be killed and Han wasn't about to be dragged in by some two-bit inexperienced Rodian who earned his reputation by sheer luck. If they add Hayden Christianson anywhere in the "Special" Special Editions, I'm gonna kill somebody.
Hanyou 06-03-2004 10:41 PM
My opinion...nothing can ruin RotJ like the Ewoks. Ewoks killed that movie.

Now Ep II is the way the movies should be done. Seriously, it was beautiful. But I guess that's 'cuz it kinda had the same mood as The Empire Strikes Back.

And yeah, Han should shoot Greedo.

And Jabba...we don't need any more of him. Roll Eyes

Heh...they should special editions of Episodes I and II and fix everything in those.

And go back to IV and make Han shoot first!!!!

Like reducing Jar Jar's part to a total of 3 minutes.
Episode I would need a LOT of work. The whole movie just seemed so bland, and Jar Jar was incredibly forced humor. Don't get me started on Anakin.

I liked Episode II a lot, though it relied on bluecreen and CG much too heavily.

OH GOD YES!
I actually heard he's going to do that.

I heard Zaxon was present for much of Episode II filming. He doesn't show up because he was in front of the blue screen...and of course Zaxon is Blue. But, every now and then you can see his eyes dancing across the screen.

I really hope it's as good as Episode V. In my opinion, V was the best so far. I think III might be able to be that good (WOOT! Empire rising!!)
Big Money 07-16-2004 12:34 PM
I think they should have just shot George Lucas and got that Genndy dude what did the cartoons to direct the movies... They were much, much cooler/better, especially Sammy L's bit.
A Clockwork Tomato 07-16-2004 01:23 PM
They should just redub Episode I so the Jar Jar and company have upper-crust British accents. Use John Cleese for the new voice of Jar Jar. "Attack of the Upper-Class Twits!" End of problem, and all the parts that made you wince the last time you saw it will have you rolling in the aisles.

Maybe they could give you a whole bunch of sound tracks so you could mix and match. I'd like the Trade Federation guys to sound like Groucho and Chico Marx, for example.
Alana Gabriel 07-16-2004 02:18 PM
I don't know when, and frankly I don't care. The first trilogy was SO much better 'cuz you didn't have to put up with the arrogant, pompous jedi brat, more commonly known as "Anakin". I just wish they'd do the "Thrawn" trilogy as movies...
Byranx 07-16-2004 07:06 PM
Sept. 27ish i think* for the original trilogy

and May 2005 for SW Ep. III

They are havin the cast return for reshoots and currently are doin some editing things too. Can't wait to see General Grievous
Negotiator_Roger_Smith 07-16-2004 10:25 PM
to be honest i really dont care! the last few star wars movies have to many special effects! the first starwars that came out many many years were good! but now days the news star wars have more money invested in special effect budget then actual story their trying to tell! dont get get me wrong special effects is goood but sometimes to much of it can be a very bad thing!

I'd like to believe that, but it doesn't sound retarded enough to really be what George plans on calling it.
