May of next year.

A simple note of how to know when a Star Wars movie comes out: they always premiere in May, and they're made on a three year basis, so each episode is 3 years after the previous. It's been two since AotC, so there's still a year to go until Episode 3. )

The original holy trilogy (Episodes 4,5 and 6) come out in Sept. (I think the 13th) on dvd. They come with demos of new Star Wars games for PS2 and X Box and show what the new Vader costume looks like.

The main problem with the new trilogy is Jar-Jar Binks. He is completely unbelievable.

I did not like Episode 1. The Pod Races also were not enjoyable, especially the part with the strange sports announcers.

Episode II was better.

But, George Lucas has turned his back on Zaxon and the Good Ones and he is now pandering to the Bad Aliens who want to destroy his empire.

Comes out on September 20th in the UK - mines preordered already. Think I'll be having a Starwars evening here.

Ep I was terrible for several reasons. Acting and dialogue was bad, but that's a problem with all the movies. One HUGE problem was the "midiphilanthopomorpheechloritinicians" or whatever the hell they were called, which was supposed to provide some logical explanation for the force. That's stupid. The force doesn't need an explanation. Binks was a problem, but I think every Star Wars film has had something that annoying. Jabba was awful in RotJ. Ugh. The REAL problem was Anakin. And that huge space battle "showdown" in which the kid unrealistically and unintentionally saves the galaxy was one of the most pathetic attempts at a climactic battle I have ever seen. An anticlimax.

However, Darth Maul was a good villain and the story was alright. Just that they coulda covered it in ten minutes. The dual at the end was the most well-choreographed duel in the whole saga, I think, though the emotional drive was absent.

Ep II. Hmm. I LOVE the story. The water planet was nightmarishly beautiful. The settings are unrivalled. It was dark, well laid out, and it was also FUN to watch! Hayden is no worse than Hammil. Mind you, that's pretty bad, but I don't see why we should cry bloody murder over the dialogue. We can expect little else from Lucas. Examine the film's intrinsic value and it becomes quite apparent that it has far more depth than most succesful films nowadays. Almost refreshing. I think it's better than "Spiderman."

Empire Strikes Back: Speaks for itself. The only Star Wars film with a story to rival LotR.

Ep III WILL be the darkest, and SW is VERY GOOD when it's dark.

Hopefully this Star Wars movie doesnt blow as much as Episode 2.

This July? Naw! The official word is that EpIII comes out on May 19, 2005

Anyone hear that they are changing the original triology when it comes to DVD?

They are adding special effects and changing ghost anakin at the end to look like Haydeen.

Ruining it I say!

Also that evil meanacing General-robot enemy thingy at the end of Cartoon Network's Star Wars: Clone Wars will make an appearnace in the movie. I'd like to see real bloodshed from this guy.

I've heard General Grievous (sp?) is the major villain this time around.

I thought Episode II was really good, almost up to the bar set by the old movies. But Episode I really let me down. It was Jar-Jar and Anakin that did it. Anakin was SO DAMN ANNOYING! I couldn't see how this dorky kid would become Dark Lord of the Sith.

And yeah, the Midichlorians (chlorine-based digital music? wtf?) really cheapened the whole mistique of the Force.

I know the Ep III is coming out in 2005. Now, I'm guessing on this but it should come out in May, because that's when all the others came out.

As for me, I liked both Ep I and II. They're not bad movies. But yes, they don't have the same feel and style as the old ones. But you need to view the two trilogies as different entities. And you have to remember that it has been 25 years since the originals and technology and people's views of movies has changed.
