Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

It seems like the Japanese are getting 3 versions of AC -- there is a standard edition, the limited one, and the ultimate one. The ultimate edition is a box set that includes the Cloud and Fenrir figure set, a fascimile script, and lots more. So far United States is NOT getting the Ultimate Edition.

Article states it here:

FFVII: AC Ultimate Edition Details

There's an article on IGN now about the Compilation of FFVII, as well as the future of Final Fantasy on the Playstation 3. It give minute details about Advent Children, but also talks about the rest of the Compilation (Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerebrus).

It can be found here.

Square Enix reveals super collectors pack for Advent Children DVD.
by IGN Staff

June 13, 2005 - Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is all set for simultaneously US and Japanese DVD release on 9/14. While details on the US version of the movie have yet to be revealed by the company, we've gotten word of the Japanese release plans, and boy are they exciting!

Advent Children will be released in two packages. A standard edition, containing just the DVD release, will retail for 4,079 yen. The final film will clock in at 97 minutes, in 16x9 format and with Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Pro Logic II sound tracks. In addition to the movie, the DVD will include the Advent Children trailer, trailers for all the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII products, and a digest look at the original FFVII, featuring the CG scenes from the game.

More interesting is the pricey limited edition version of the flick. Costing 24,990 yen, the limited edition includes, in addition to the standard DVD, a second DVD containing a making-of video, an original video animation called "Last Order Final Fantasy," a video look at the Advent Children Venice Film Festival premier, and a series of trailer. The package also includes a Cloud figure set, a key holder marked with a serial number, a cap, a t-shirt and a voiced replication of the script. Best of all, the package comes with a special version of the original PlayStation Final Fantasy International -- that's right, the whole game!

It's unknown if Square Enix plans a similar package for fans in America, but join us in hoping that we get treated just as well. It's also still unclear what Square Enix plans on doing with the UMD release of the movie.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really interested in what the anime will be like, plus what the 'special-edition' label on the FFVII: International game could mean, if anything.

Currently I only know of one site that will ship here, but its Japanese. I think by another month or so, we'll see sites having orders for english AC DVD's, and maybe a "Advent Pieces" Boxset (ultimate edition's official name).

However, I did a search on Froogle.com and found that BestBuy is taking pre-orders for the UMD release.

If you want to preorder the Japanese "Advent Pieces" or First Print Editions, a good place is www.play-asia.com

As well as the features of the standard edition DVD (trailers for AC and other Compilation titles, and a digest movie of FFVII), the AP:L DVD also includes audio commentaries from the staff.

The second disk, not included with the standard edition, includes a making of FFVIIAC, the special presentation version shown in Venice, trailers used at various events in the past, and the OVA "Last Order Final Fantasy VII". Last Order appears to be an original story seperate from AC and set before FFVII.

The mesh cap (featuring a design based on Bahamut) and T-shirt (which uses the 'Cloudy Wolf' symbol) are a collaboration with the fashion brand 'LUZ'.

The script replica, as well as all the dialogue from the film, also includes bits such as scene explainations, and offers 'a glimpes into one aspect of [AC's] production'.

The copy of FFVII Internation included will be the same as the '97 version contents-wise, but will include a special displayable case as well.

Well, that solves the mystery of what was on the hat. Big Grin

Glad we're learning more about the "Last Order" OVA, I am very interested in it!

For those less knowledgeable about FFVII International, it was released in Japan after fans over there learned of the two extra Weapons in the American release, as well as other additions. Also included in the International is a 4th Disc, which has descriptions of various character weapons and such.
Gato Gurl914 06-22-2005 12:44 PM
i am seriously so stoked for this. i am going to make my mom take me to media play at midnight, just so i can get it. i really hope that we also get the ultimate edition, but it appears that the OVA will be included in the special/limited edition?
R.Smith 06-23-2005 02:27 AM
Hey all, I just wanted to share two images of what the '97 FFVII International cover and CD's looked like:

For those wondering what's on the 4th disc (Perfect Guide), here are some pictures, they are of Cloud's weapons (same goes for the other characters)in a guide book style:

Buster Sword
Mythril Saber
Hard Edge
Butterfly Edge
Enhance Sword
Organics
Crystal Sword
Force Stealer
Rune Blade
Murasame
Nail Bat
Yoshiyuki
Apocalypse
Heaven's Cloud
Ragnarok
Ultima Weapon

If your planning on playing this, you'll need a way to play Japanese games on your PSX, or PS2.
Gato Gurl914 06-23-2005 08:47 AM
did you ever notcie in the game that when you had ultima weapon equiped to cloud and he was getting low in health the color of the blade would change?

Indeed I did, don't quite remember the purpose for it, other then a cool effect.

Some minor news on the "Advent Pieces" boxset, the FFVII International in this boxset will have newly designed CD labels, as seen in the lower right hand corner.

I resized the image, lost quality, but you can see it a bit better:

Looks pretty cool to me. Cool

Wait...if thats an INTERNATIONAL VERSION why the hell would I need a modchip Confused

I bet a reasonable amount of money that Last Order OAV (and probably the movie itself) is pirated at least a week before the release of AC.

While it is named International it is in Japanese, and therefore can only be played on a Japanese PSX/PS2, etc.

I think the reason behind the name is because of what was included, all the stuff that was put into the American one, and more. So, for the Japanese it was what we got........I'm going in circles, basically, its what we got, repackaged and with an extra disc, so they called it "International".
Gato Gurl914 06-24-2005 08:46 AM
makes sense, do you know if the OVA will be included in the american special edition?
