I think he meant sides as in sides lol...all i know Volume 1 has Roger smith holding his glasses...and volume 4 has Schwartzwald on the side. I don't know about volumes 2 and 3 so the question still stands

It used lasers (the chromebuster? it didn't have the arms in the right posistions though) to break a hole in the domes above and used the large right grapling hook thing to get out of the way.

By the way, the correct answer to my question was that Beck funded a scientist's project... The scientist had worked on generitcally engineering insects that could produce electricity as a side-effect of their metabolism. This would help the city's failing power structure. Beck took the insects halfway through maturation, and unleashed them upon the city. In this incomplete form, they would absorb electricity but they had not developed enough to give anything else back.

When Roger and the Big O appeared, the insects swarmed the Big O, and drained it dry of any power. All the punching in the world could do nothing to fend off the swarm, so Roger ran away while Beck gloated over his victory, and had the bugs suck other energy wells dry. (In the end, Roger went to the scientist, who had a catharsis, and found the insects' weak point.)
