First Book...dazed and not good.

lack of description. Everyone is SO perfect or extreme... I hate all the characters... and i hate how they always find SOMEWAY to be so innovative... everyone is SOOO clever and smart...*shakes fist*

also that guy that eats dirt and does the fart thing... ack... whoo wrote this? Hu... its really nothing to be impressed about in my view..

sure... a few elements you would not normally see... but still... in my opinoin the characters are... just to perfect and the descriptions along with the story is lacking and doesn't quite flow...
Yomiko 04-22-2004 06:50 PM

Schwarzwald 04-22-2004 06:58 PM
Oh Um. Just ask an admin. It happens surprisingly often. Big Grin

*fades into darkness*

The frist book? Well at lest you tryed read to read it.
Sephiroth 04-22-2004 07:33 PM
Oh man! I love these books! I have read the entire series and they rock!
Hanyou 04-22-2004 09:23 PM
I'm definitely going to read these books! I don't like "farting" humor by any means but I suppose I'll be able to overlook it. Sounds like good stuff.
Yomiko 04-23-2004 01:35 PM
Ooo goodie a person who enjoys the books. In the second one the fart comes in handy.

Hanyou, I like your avatar, so cute!

YAY! Yomiko, thanks for the thread. (And don't worry, soon enough it will move)

ANYWAY! I loved the Artemis Fowl books. I like to think I read those instead of Harry Potter. (SOMEDAY I'll read Harry, just not yet...). None the less, I found the action to be wonderful. I loved the whole "James Bond kid thing" going on in the story. Then the whole underworkings of elves. The LEPrecon unit: I love how he created that.

Artemis, if he was a real kid, I think I would love to meet him. I just found him to be a very awesome character. I think the descriptions were what brought me into the stories. I can still vividly picture the train in Siberia (I think, I just remember lots of snow and a train and action with Butler etc....). That pops up periodically. I also really enjoyed the characters. I mean, sure they *SEEMED* perfect, but they each had their own little flaw.

Now, the THIRD book. Don't get me started. I enjoyed that one, don't get me wrong, but um....
spoiler (highlight to read):
I really did not like the ending. I'm not sure if I didn't understand it, but I'm sure I did. I just was somewhat disappointed. I'm going to check the end again though.

I hear that there are supposed to be Artemis Fowl movies. Anyone hear any more on this? I know the first and second books had an advertisement. I would LOVE to see those movies (as long as they have good people in the parts.)

Later,
Pen1300

Aaa I was woundering when you would come. PLase read Harry Potter I love that series too, along with this. "James Bound kid thing" thats a great discription! Alot of people try to be perfect but it never works. Tongue

In the thrid one it was hard to see Butler with his hair and nails and all that, I really like his sister, Juliet. Anyone know how to pronoce his first name; Domovoi? The book is right in front of me.

THat would be soo cool if there were going to be movies.

I am in the process of reading the first book. Smile It sound really good at this point. I got it about an hour ago and I'm......3/4 ways finished. I read fast. I read the Harry Potter #5 in five days. Only cause I didn't read on one day.
Schwarzwald 04-23-2004 09:03 PM
Heh Juliet was an interesting character...

*remembers that funky scene with the matress and Juliet guarding the cell and the wrestling thing*

I never really could understand her...heh. maybe I'm just reading the book wrong...

haha... the first time I read harry potter(guess I just skimed through it) I got a TOTAL different impression than the second time... my bloody devil... i misunderstood EVERYTHING...haha... it was like a different book... the second time..whoah... ahh...what was I thinking! By the way this was all before the movies...WAY before... I was a bit discouraged how they did ron in the first movie... he was sorta... or from what I remember... sort of an extra... like a doppleganger of Mr. Longbottom

*sighs*

Haha. Guess I just like boring characters and boring books. Haha. Animal Farm is one of my favorites. *shakes fist at Stalin*
Yomiko 04-23-2004 09:10 PM
Good for you Reki, I hope you like all the books like me. I read fast too! I'm alittle over half way done with the thrid one. THe second one ics called the Artic Incadent. (bad speller)

Shocked Shocked Shocked *wispers* I read the 5th H.P. in 5 days too... Shocked Shocked Shocked

Schwarzwald: ya Juilet is cool and yes you were reading the right book, the first one. BY the way you are weird, so am I at times though. Animal Farm was boring?
Schwarzwald 04-23-2004 09:23 PM
haha. But i like boring you see? So it all works out in the end.

It tied into The Giver a bit. Utopia and all that. Heh. What interested me the most is that they were both a bit like...communism... well...

actually...

Giver Socialism...a tad more... Animial Farm...flat out communism...

But Hey...communism is a spilt off of Socialism right?

I just don't like over done characters. Or over expressionate if it isn't suppost to be funny.

*looks back into Fowl book*

Actually(root was his name?) The Major "cop/commander/offcial/head" who was impatient... was a good character. Heh. But isn't he like most of these media cops... Alot like Dauston frmo Big O he is. From what I am seeing.
harshfire 04-23-2004 09:24 PM
Another note: This should be in the Speakeasy. (Mods please move)

Anyway, Yeah. I would've read it in four days had I read anything on the third. I could probably read all the Harry potter books in a week if I wanted. We were on vacation.
Yomiko 04-23-2004 09:30 PM
Schwarzwald have you been in any of my classes? I've read The Giver.

Reki: I don't know how to move it.
Two weeks of hard core reading I could read the five books or a week and a half.

Hm? Well I live in MD. Eh. I'm that kid with the long hair that stares at everybody with sign of hatred on his face under his big hair.

Either way probably not. Um. Well I would actually assume that The Giver would be a common book for a reading class. I mean... its not a hard reading... and it seems to have an "authors purpose"(I hate those questions).

Unless... the midwest is located... near where... MD is? Well actually...

*looks at map* Depends on where you start... middle east... *shakes head*

----

Oh Uh. Mods I would assume be moving this are either.

Almasy, Gk Version 1, or Pen(who posted here already).

Thier names are listed at the side of the board title on the main page...
Yomiko 04-24-2004 05:40 PM
Aaa uha.... What state is MD? I can't think of what it is. I'm ND.
I suppose that its true for common reading in classes. "Authors purpose"? I don't understand.

Who ever moved this... Thank You very much! Big Grin
