BIC: "Well," Snake said, "where should we go?"

OOC: sorry I took so long, I Have been having problems geting my internet working at my new place.

Dastun is waiting for a reply from his message he left with Dorothy for Roger. As he files the damage report for the last fight a private comes in.

"Sir, we got a message from the foreigner. I sent him a message while I tried to get a hold of Roger earlier."

"Hmm. Good idea. I'll call him after I talk to Roger. In fact, I may go over to his place right now. Call and leave a message that I'm on my way." Dastun leaves the building and gets into one of the squad cars and goes over to his old friends mansion. "If anything else, it might be nice to see him for a drink."

"Are you trying to scare me?" Alex asked, rubbing his hand against the glass of the window. "It seems to me you are. Such an act could ensure your ending up a prisoner in Paradigm City's fine jails. I could arrange a padded room, just for you."

The President smirked inwardly. So she seemed to have regained a degree of her composure and bravery. He liked that in someone that so clearly feared him. The only people who had the guts to do that were his former secretary, Alan, Beck, the Union, and of course...

Roger Smith.

But the Negotiator was not the topic here.

He turned back to them once more. Casting his stern eye over Freddy and Emelia, he strode past and between them, only coming to a stop once he had reached the door. Alex paused for an eternity.

"...He thought on the outside? No he didn't. He though on the inside, but it was his own inside. The crazed lunatic actually believed that he could bring the Truth of forty years ago to the people of Paradigm. To do that he'd need memories, and he had none. So... why do I avert my eyes to the Truth? If I pilot it as a puppet, what is accomplished? Heh... The lies...? the outside...? What makes you believe I am a puppet? I'm not a puppet. I am..." he said softly, letting the words drift through the air, letting them soak deeply inside Freddy and Emelia's very souls. "...the one who will become this world's new god. The Truth I concive, control, command and create is the only Truth that matters. Not your Truth, not your husband's Truth. I don't need to look past the 'lies' and 'hidden secrets' you speak of. If I will them to be, they ARE the Truth."

He glanced back over his shoulder, his face showing an almost perverse pleasure in speaking his next words.

"I would gather that you are interested in it. Would you like to see...

OOC: I wouldn't mind seeing that, after Roger Returns to the scene.

BIC: Snake drives around town, just cruising around with his tinted windows up so noone knew who was inside, "Alright, I can assure you that we are safe, feel free to talk, 'Isalai'."

'Isalai' was going to say something about who she was, but Snake didn't really care. He wasn't going to pry, but he knows how to listen to people that want to talk. He liked the company.
Gummibear 05-17-2004 12:55 PM
Isalai felt safe around the company of these people. "First off, I'm not Isalai. It was a name I made up so none would know my true identity." Isalai glared enviously at the birds in the sky, gliding through the air weightlessy. She felt heavy with guilt. " My name is Emilia Townsend, the girl from the west dome, daughter of THE Robert Townsend. Or at least I thought I was" Robert Townsend was chairman of the board for Paradigm Corporation until he retired last year. Both Snake and Beck exchanged astonished glances. " I left because I found out something about my past. My parents were hiding it from me." Emilia tugged on a thin silver chain wrapped around her neck, she uncovered what must have been a crucifix of some sort." I'm not quite sure what I am." Emilia paused to look at the crucifix," But I know that I may not be from Paradigm. It sounds crazy, but I can remember things.... things that happened a long time ago."
snakemarcato13 05-17-2004 02:01 PM
"Well, well," Snake said, "I don't really blame you for hiding. The past is a scary thing to know about. Trust me, I see things clearer all the time. It scares me to know the past." Snake pulled up to a stop, then looked at Emilia, "I know some people would kill to have memories. I'm as careful as I can be."

Snake looked forward again, and started driving...
Tifaria 05-17-2004 09:23 PM
"You're THE Robert Townsend's daughter?!" Now Angel knew why there was something vaguely familiar about the girl. Angel had encountered Robert Townsend on an almost daily basis during her stint as Alex Rosewater's secretary. She'd seen him at formal functions, dressed to the nines, his mousy daughter by his side, hair.. her hair..

"You were blonde, weren't you?" Angel said suddenly. "That's why I couldn't figure out if I knew you or not. Your face was familiar, but you've changed your hair color." Angel frowned. "Whatever you found out, it must have been horrible. Robert Townsend was notorious for spoiling his daughter silly, giving her everything she wanted. Why give up a life like that?"

"What's that you've got on?" Beck spoke up suddenly. "There's not a shiny object in the world that doesn't catch my eye." He was peering around the front seat, trying to get a look at Emilia's crucifix. "What is that? I've never seen a necklace like it before." He motioned for Angel to have a look. She peered around the seat as well, taking in the details. She'd never seen one either. Wherever it came from, it was intricately carved, obviously with care by its maker.

"I haven't got a clue." Angel said. "Add that to the list of things I want to find out about." She paused, and everyone was silent for a while. Angel leaned against the window, watching the scenery as Snake drove. Emilia seemed reluctant to talk about the necklace just yet, so Angel changed the subject.

"You might not be from Paradigm?" Angel smiled in the dark. "That may not be as crazy as you think, Emilia."
Gummibear 05-17-2004 09:55 PM
"Despite what you may think, being his daughter wasn't all that great." Emilia spoke subtily. " It was like being in a cage, daddy did everything he could to make me happy but he was buying my love. I always felt deep down that he was giving me all these things because he felt guilty about something.Unfortunatley, I was right." Emilia played with her necklace a bit more. She missed her home, her piano, her friends and even started to regret leaving but she had to she wasn't leading her own life if she hadn't. " Angel, when you said that might not be so crazy, it has me wondering if thats even possible. My father always told me that Paradigm was the only civiliazed city left. I found out that daddy, I mean Robert isn't my real father. My mother died years ago but she left me this thing." Emilia gestered at the crucifix." daddy was always scared about me finding out about her, her death was always a mystery. Then I started to piece everthing together when I saw this inscription." Emilia flipped the crucifix to reveal a small inscription " A.276".

Sorry - had some strains and demands on my time just lately...moreso than expected. It sapped my enthusiasm for a lotta things...in fact, I recently quit an RP I have been involved in for over a year or so, owing to my having had enough of holding them up. Xx;

I must try and keep myself in this...so be patient, LOL.

Here is the RP post. Oo;

Roger had taken the message from Dorothy...

Dastun had wanted Roger to phone him for reasons that Dorothy wasn't told.
It was probably something to do with events that had transpired earlier in the day...after all, Dastun never liked to be kept in the dark all that much.

Then again, Roger grinned to himself as he thought, him being the military police...wouldn't he be used to that already?

Picking up the handset, he dialled the office number, but was patched through to the offices outside of Dastun's.

" Hello, is Dastun there? " He asked the answering secretary. " It's Roger Smith...I was told to phone him, but..."

The scretary interrupted sharply. " Roger Smith...ahh, yeah - Dastun left a while ago. Said he was gonna come over and talk to you directly instead... "

It figured - Dastun always did like to stop over for a talk over a drink...

" Alright then. " He replies, after an initial pause. " I should expect him shortly, then... "

Saying no more, he hung up and straightened his tie.

" Dorothy...Dastuns coming over for a visit. Please tell Normon to bring out the finest glasses, and the SPECIAL decanter of whiskey...I'll be awaiting his arrival downstairs."

Dorothy merely nodded, and walked off to find the butler, who was currently tending to the Big O.
Roger went downstairs, pondering still over both the mornings discussion, Angel, and everything else that had cropped up throughout the day...

Snake was feeling sympathy for this girl, and that was strange. You can't show emotions. It is outside of your training. You were trained to forget about emotions. He thought. But I can't hurt her, even if I go insane. She is making me more human than trained killing machine. He replied to his thoughts. It was like him to have a conversation in his head, so he did this often. But why now? Why her? Emilia is not a special girl. She allows me to have emotion, and she can keep me at bay.

"I like to show emotion." Snake accidentally said out loud. He wondered if anyone would catch it....

Dastun left his car and knocked at the door to Roger's mansion. Shortly after Norman came and answered.

N: "Colonel Dastun, we were expecting you, please come in."

D: "Thank you Norman. Will Roger be down soon? I swear that man sleeps in more than any man I know."

N: "Master Roger will be down shortly. In the meantime he instructed that you wait for him here. He also had me bring out the special decanter of whiskey for you two."

Norman then began to pour a drink in the fine glasses and handed one to Dastun

D: "Thank you Norman. (he always makes me feel welcome, despite his feelings about the police.)

He hears footsteps out in the hallway

D: "Roger, is that you?"
snakemarcato13 05-18-2004 12:47 PM
Snake thought about Emilia, he liked this girl, but he didn't want to hurt her in any way. He knew that she could keep him calm, and he liked to be around her, but can I be human enough around her? He thought....

"My goodness, Snake is acting strangely." Emilia thought to herself watching the forlorn look on Snake's face. His red eyes made her wonder of his origins. Was he like Beck and Angel? Did he share the same memories. Emilia staggered back a bit in her seat. The luxury sedan cruised smoothly along the highway, small compacts hissing past them. Suddenly the vehicle jerked violently as Snake pressed hard on the brakes. Traffic towards the end of the bridge. " I suppose since we're stuck here." Emilia started," Angel? Have you ever heard of a woman named Vera?" Emilia flashedback to the days before her mother died. She was ten while playing with her dolls one day she stumbled apon her mother talking in a different language to a woman named Vera, it seemed of grave importance judging by the beadlets of sweat forming on her mother's brow. Emilia didn't understand what made her mother so nervous but she knew the name Vera somehow, she remembered it.
snakemarcato13 05-18-2004 01:44 PM
Snake thought about the name, "Nope, doesn't ring a bell to me."

Snake hoped that the traffic wasn't due to a Megaduce, he didn't want Emilia to see him fight, and he didn't really want Beck and Angel to know he was a pilot. But if it was a Megaduce attack....
Tifaria 05-18-2004 08:27 PM
Angel leaned against the window of the backseat, staring outside. This car, so much like Roger Smith's, was making her daydream. She was distracted, her mind fighting between staying on task and remembering the last time she'd been in Roger Smith's car.. the android had been there too, souring the experience somewhat. However, this was a daydream, and Angel was free to imagine whatever scenario she wanted. Her thoughts were soon dispersed by the car's sudden stop and Emilia's startling question.

"Angel? Have you ever heard of a woman named Vera?"

For a moment Angel was too stunned to say anything. Snake answered in the negative, and Beck shrugged and shook his head as well.

I'm letting myself slip, Angel thought. Normally I'd have some response ready for such a question. But with these people, I find myself unable to do things I could normally do without thinking.. like lie. I can't lie to them the way I do to other people.. even the way I do to Roger Smith. She frowned. Emilia and Beck were looking at her expectantly, and even Beck had an almost worried frown on his face.

Jason Beck, worried! What is going on here? Nothing that's happened tonight makes any sense. Angel sighed.

"I've heard the name Vera before, but.. I don't know much about her." Inwardly, she kicked herself. That was her most unconvincing lie yet, and judging by Emilia's expression, everyone else knew it too. She saw Snake glance at her in the rearview mirror.

Emilia raised an eyebrow, asked uncertainly, "What does that mean?"

Angel was back to looking out the window. "It means that in time, I'm almost certain we will run into her, and when that happens, you can ask her your questions yourself.. provided that any of us live to ask questions of Vera Ronstadt."

"'Provided we live?!' Hey, hey, you didn't mention any potential deaths when you talked me into this, babe." Beck's face was scrunched into an irritable expression. Angel glanced at him quickly, but didn't bother to respond.

Car horns were honking in vain, the traffic backed up at the end of the bridge. Angel briefly wondered if the backed up traffic had to do with a Megadeus, but surely if that were the case everyone would have evacuated. She brushed the thought aside.

Keep your mind on your mission.. and off Roger Smith. He's not yours to have, and never was.
snakemarcato13 05-19-2004 07:43 AM
"....provided that any of us live to ask questions of Vera Ronstadt."

Snake chuckled, "I'm not dead yet. If the lab didn't kill me, I'm not sure what will."

Emilia noticed that Snake was bothered by something. Little did she know that it was something about her that bothered him, not in a bad way, but in a more human way. the reason it bothered him was because he had lacked emotion for so long. He looked at her, "I guess that you notice something? Hmmmm. I'll tell you later, Emilia...."

Gummibear 05-19-2004 09:20 AM
I hope you will tell me...this whole situation is beyond freaky. I mean here I am with perfect strangers cruising along to some unknown destination.Emilia thought to herself. Emilia tried to keep herself centered as all her fears started to flood back. She couldn't imagine the agony her father was going through. All because of her self-centered desire to uncover what was a secret for many years, one her father had obviously repented for. However his lies were the greatest sin.

Emilia snapped together the buttons on her tan burberry overcoat. Emilia was cold the skirt was only knee length and it was a miserable day. The traffic moved at a snails pace. Each car jerking an inch forward. She wanted something to happen, anything to keep her mind from wandering." On the bright side", she thought, "at least I'm accompanied by two attractive,if a bit eccentric men. At least Angel and I won't be bored." Emilia whipped her head back, Angel's gaze was wandering, like she had something or better yet, someone on her mind. Emilia found a point of comparision, she was also thinking about someone.

snakemarcato13 05-19-2004 11:22 AM
Snake saw that Emilia was rather cold, so he turned up the heat.

I really hope this traffic isn't due to a megaduce. I will fight, but I don't want to in front of her. He thought.

Snake looked at Emilia, "From what I've heard, your father wasn't a good person. I feel sorry for you."

Roger offered a small chuckle, and sat down opposite dastun...

" I was planning on checking out some things down at the Speakeasy. Things have been up in the air lately, and there were just a few loose threads I intended to check up on. "

Roger gestured for Dastun to sit.

" But, since you've taken the time to come all this way, I assume you wanted either my help, or a drink. "

Norman enters, with the decanter.

" Of course, I know it's usually both. " He said with a smile. " So, how about you pour yourself out a glass, and give me what you've got... "

he leans back in the chair, patiently wondering what Dastun was here to say...

The Big Finale 05-19-2004 12:31 PM
(Texan--Act as if this doesn't happen until after you've posted what you want to say, okay?)

Snake and Angel's hopes were in vain.

Several groups of Military Police had been stationed to cordon off a street where a large lump, almost seven feet across, had suddenly appeared less than thirty minutes ago. This was the cause of the traffic, as all the cars had to be rerouted across a road that was normally crowded.

"Hey, wait! You can't come in here!"

The officer, a grizzled man somewhere in his early sixtys, strode over to the police barricades where a woman had merely stepped over the yellow tape and continued walking on towards the hump in the ground. He stopped in front of her as she came to a halt.
"You can't come in here." He muttered, glaring a her from under his brushy eyebrows. A thin, cruel grin spread across her mouth as she looked up, flinging her arms out to the sides and sending her coat flaring out in the wind.

"Gaspard!"

The military police officer wheeled around as the ground underneath his fellow police exploded upward in a fury of dirt, concrete, and steel. The gigantic form of a megadeus erupted from the ground, sending their lifeless bodies flying through the air. Two, and then three dropped down, one smashing violently through the windshield of a shiny new blue car. Vera stared upward at Gaspard, her smile never fading.

"Launching him a little early. aren't we?"

She turned, and smiled a little more.

"You finally decided to show? A wise decision. Where is Agent 340?" Vera asked, looking confidently at the grinning face of Alan Gabriel.

(You can find the simple [translation: really bad] concept sketch for Gaspard in the planning thread.)
