Sad thing tho, when I was in elementry school, our computer were the old like 2-bit screens with pixels this |_| wide and those huge floppy drives that used that kind of floppy disk WHICH WAS ACTUALLY FLOPPY! O_O;;;

The picture is fake, the joke is that its a computer that appears in an appliance style that obviously predates PCs.

if someone could animate it and have in blink (as if the galaxy actually "blinked") I'd SOOO put that in my sig! 10 cases of free beer from the Neo-Speakeasy to the first person to do so!

It is accually a composite of several images of the Helix Nebula taken by the Hubble and a telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observeatory near Tuson, AZ.
The title "Eye of God" is fan made, ie it is not a name made up by anyone at NASA.
Just a little bg info, and also note the visible stars inside the eye. That could pose a bit of a problem for anyone trying to make the eye blink.
Edit:
Here is a larger pic of the "eye of god" and an even larger version if you click on the pic again. (Warning, it is huge. 2400x3000 pixals!)

I think they meant that it was a composite as in that it was like making a panoramic shot the old way by taking a series of photos and pasting them together to make one large one, not that the image hosted there is actually 1000s of little separate images...
oh hell whatever doesn't matter, my reward is still up for grabs!
