Well, consider the fact that the boards are programmed in PHP, and it would probably try to interpret the characters "<" "/" and ":" as a command string or part of it.

WBB2 converts those symbols on transfer usually into their equivalent HTML Entities. There's no problem with using them unless whatever function is used to do this missed off some entity.

<\:/> is not, to my knowledge, a valid command in any type of code the forums could be running. I don't know about most codes but in HTML when an invalid command is typed in it usually just displays it as text. I guess the only problem could be that the data entry field wouldn't recognize the characters but I don't know why it wouldn't it's not for a password or anything.

Sure, I'll give it a try and see what happens. PHP sometimes has a problem with backslashes, but the rest of the characters are ok.
Edit: Looks ok to me, so your name has been changed. If anyone has problems sending PMs to you, have them enter this as your name instead: <\\:/>

I have a very simple request: I would like to have mistress-samwise capitalized to be
Mistress-Samwise. I think it makes me look a slightly bit more classy, and less shift-key lazy.
