Rate The Avatar

FP: I like the Phoenix on the right. I prefer a more saturated and contrasted style, especially in pixelation. But that's me, others might not like it that much, and after all, choosing one's avatar means selecting that which all 1,400+ of our dear members must look at every time you post.

Meh, I need sleep. I'll just vote for the right one Big Grin

I'd like to thank everyone for the advice! Big Grin For now, I'll be keeping the right avatar, but I did fiddle around with it and, as a result, I have a few more avatars sitting in the wings...

But it would be awfully rude of me to continue to promote my avatars if I didn't rate some of the others in return, so here I go:

Rekkoha: I remember your previous GIF, and while I didn't like the art style, the GIF was very well done. This avatar is similar to your older one in that respect, though I appreciate the art style a lot more than I did with the previous one. The colors are well done, and I think the background was also well made. The GIF itself is flawless.

All of this totals to a superb avatar! 9.6/10!

Wingnut: It's a wing...and a tire. Interesting. Tongue Well, the transparency is flawless, and the picture is of top quality, though it's a little dull to me (probably because it's just red and white).

Nevertheless, it isn't a bad avatar. I suppose I'll rate it an 8.0/10.

GAT-X105: Back to the Gundam avatars, eh? I must say, I did like your little boat. Tongue Not to say I don't like the Gundam avatar, of course! I recall you mentioning in another thread (or perhaps it was this one?) that, being as the Gundam is in motion, it is a naturally blurry picture. Keeping that in mind, the poor(er) quality can be excused, though I also note a bit of grain around the Gundam's chest. The image itself is dark (well, being as it's space, it makes sense), but I think it's a little too dark. It's hard to distinguish objects in the background. This really isn't all that bad, since the viewer therefore focuses more on the Gundam itself. However, the grain (and as much as I'd like to, I can't count out the blurriness) only gets in the way of appreciating the central figure.

Overall though, it isn't bad. All things considered, I think this avatar manages to scratch by an 8.0/10.

---
Anyway, I've decided to discard the left avatar for now, but I have a few more...if anyone would like to compare them, feel free. Big Grin Your insights would be much appreciated, and I thank you in advance.

The far left one is my current avatar...

And that, as they say, is that.

Definitely the one in the middle. It has the richest color. 10/10, without a doubt!

It has just become painfully obvous just how ignorant some people are to sports.
To spell it out, my avatar is the logo of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League.
And it was made by Manji.
On the latest trio, go with the middle one if you want it to be bright and colorful, and go with the one on the far fight for more subtle details.

Sorry...I don't follow Hockey as much as I follow Baseball. Embarrassed Sweatdrop Well, I'll follow the standings, but I don't watch Hockey games nor do I get attached to any teams...so I admit, I am fairly ignorant to such things. Hell, I doubt I could name many Hockey teams, let alone recognize their logos...

Baseball, on the other hand...Smile

Oh, thanks for the advice thus far. Big Grin (Sad attempt to remain on-topic).

And that, as they say, is that.

This new avatar of mine is obviously a giant octopus who has an unfortunate supply ship in it's clutches. Along with this picture is some background information, which makes it's meaning even clearer. The octopus/ship combo is actually the logo of two particular u-boats, and we all know what the nazi wolf packs' favorite prey were.

how bout mine yall?

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE, WHEN YOU POST, PLEASE RATE ANOTHER MEMBERS AVATAR!!!

Phoenix: Poor neglected phoenix, they didnt want to rate your avatar, its because it was so good Big Grin . Buetiful avatar, I'm glad to see Tucan Sam is back in business, and in all his colorful and vibrant fruityness, none-the-less! Great colors, Awsome Quality, and befitting for a member of your status! Awsome! 5/5

Bismarck: This looks like its trying to say something about the revenge of fish on the ships that hunt them? Maybe I'm wrong Big Grin . It's a good avatar, a little too grayscale for me, but it is ok. Its quality is ok, and theres nothing to be said about the colors. From what I can, I'd rate it an average 3/5

Knight: Drooling I'm sure theres a story behind this Big Grin . Err, right, well its colors are ok, the shape is a little awkward, but nothing too bad, but the problem is with the person in the picture. Its kinda weird to cut off a face like that, I think it would be a lot better if you could see her face. I'd give it a 3/5.

Fox boy! How cuuuuuuuuute!!! 9.5/10. nicely done. wonderful. love it. needs a better background than just white though.

Sorry R.Smith. I probably shouldn't be here......but I had to rate Manji's av.
Darkside 04-21-2004 07:20 PM
Cool fox manji for some reason I see that as an animalized version of you, looking like you just did something you weren't supossed to. 10/10 because its also very well done.

Hey Reki is that the same one I've rated before? oh well an 8/10

Guess what craze I'm in now!

p.s. expect more avatars made by me cause i just learned how to make my own, this opens a whole new world of exploration for me.

com_bun_bun -Interesting choice. I like black and white avatars, and I can only recommend you add a border. Other than that, decent job. [7.5 - 10.0]
X Prime 04-23-2004 03:17 AM
New avatar, drawn by a close friend.. unfortunately, due to this forum's immense size restriction, I had to do a downscale. This is what it's supposed to look like:

Nothing like an ultraviolent X. Nice expression, 8/10.
Benjamin 04-23-2004 11:10 AM
FAU NEEDS A DIFFERENT BACKGROUND, BUT FAU ITSELF IS GREAT I WOULD GIVE IT A NINE/ TEN
Green_Bird 04-23-2004 02:30 PM
MINION: 8/10....It moves, but it quickly saps back.....

Well I got a new one....I put it on a black background so it wouldn't show lines that for somereson were there when I saved it in jpg....It could have been because of the border that was on the parent picture.....what do you think?
Kairi 04-23-2004 02:40 PM
MINION - In all honesty, I hate animated avatars. Especially ones featuring three seconds of choppy, grainy, cycled footage. That just doesn't appeal to me in any way. Sorry, just how I feel. [4.0 - 10.0]

Big Venus - Well, it's grainy and kinda saturated, but at least you're putting some work into them. Maybe using some subtle blurring would help it. Hmm. [7.0 - 10.0]
harshfire 04-23-2004 08:30 PM
Kokain: Nice. Really red and black. 8/10.
Manji 04-23-2004 08:47 PM
Venus: Well faye is a great choice for an avatar, but yours is fairly dull and very grainy. With a blur mixed in. What I would suggest in this sort of pic is not just blurring it, but since the colors dont really fade into one another, you outta just copy the color that the area should be, then paint over the miscolored areas. Thats how I get some of my grainy avatars to look much clearer. Then once that is done, you may want to blur it, but you shouldnt have to blur to make a picture clearer. 2/5

Kairi: Very nice well done! I like the deadoned color more than my vivid Dark Red and Black, and the addition of the border is a great improvement. A little more of the Kanji is showing (you must have the same starting pic that I used). Great Job, 5/5.

Reki: Its ok, the thing border is a nice touch, but I really don't like the font of the text. The black and white is ok, but the outline is kinda sketchy, its very pixelated, thats what comes from being saved as a GIF if it wasnt origionally something else. 3/5
Benjamin 04-23-2004 09:03 PM
MANJI YOURS ROCK AND ALWAYS WILL
