This is the official PC cookout thread!

Spring is on the way, and that means that summer isn't too far behind!

I would like to have a cookout for PC members sometime in June.

Because Cape Cod is absolutely legendary when it comes to weekend traffic, it is probably best to have it on a Saturday--that way you avoid the big rush on to the Cape on Friday and the big rush off on Sunday.

If it turns out everyone has graduations and weddings to go to, July would be fine too, although not the July 4th weekend unless you want to spend half the day in traffic!

If we get enough people, we can have the cookout at the beach! Smile

Well, when school's out I live in Bridgewater, not an hour from the Cape. If this does come to pass, I'll surely take the day off and drive down to join the fun. Smile

Great!

Okay, so we have Evan who wants to go but needs a ride.

We have CR Foxhound who wants to go but lives in LA (hey, if you want to fly out for a visit, we'd put you up. The couch is reasonably comfortable.)

We should start looking at dates. I'm thinking towards the end of June because usually the graduations are at the beginning.

How does the 26th look?

Oh, and if you are underage and need to have me talk to your parents to get permission to go, PM me and I'll arrange that too. Smile

If anyone else wants to stay for a few days, we can put you up but you will need to bring a sleeping bag or a tent or something. Smile

Hah yay forgot...you were another Connecticuter ^^;;

Yea i live in CT as well....not that far off

Excellent. There seem to be a bunch of people from CT around here. CT is a pretty good state... I like the Long Island Sound. I have a good view of it, and it's marginally fun to swim in. I wouldn't recommend it, though.

Lol, I agree. I live in CT too. I think this is a great idea, and I'll probably be able to get there hopefully. But my school is evil and finishes in late June (EVVVVIILLLLLL!!!!!!!!) but I can sneak away (not like I'm missing anything Roll Eyes )

Plus my cousin are thinking about going to th Cape this June, so I can hitch a ride with them. They won't mind.

Just a small thing, I look really young, 14 or so, so if you see a 14-year old-looking girl yelling about CLAMP, you know its me. Or if Sharpshooter005's there, and you see a girl argueing with him, it's probably me.

Oh and I'll bring the coleslaw Tongue

This cookout sounds entertaining, and I could easily arrange to be flown up to Cape Cod for the weekend, though I'll be in Europe from the 5th of June to the 6th of July. Would that conflict with the date on which this event is to be held?

Okay, double-check, then. Almasy would like to go as well and the 26th is bad for him (which is why I am beginning planning WELL in advance)

We'd be skipping the Fourth of July weekend, so the next Saturday would be July 10th. How does that look for everyone? At least then all school would be out, LOL! Smile
Seraphim 02-27-2004 07:27 PM
Mmm. Slaw.

June 26 works out fine for Seraphim.

Woohoo! This cookout sounds delicious.

Works for me. Can I bring pie? (Apple Pie, and any requests)

Pie would be great! We can get ice cream... Smile

We need someone who can make good barbequed ribs... I don't mind providing them, but I don't know how to make them. Smile

Hamburgers and Hotdogs are a given. We have coleslaw... what else? Plenty of cold drinks, obviously Smile Potato Chips and munchies

If you guys like chili, I can make a big pot of it and get tortilla chips and use it like a dip.... Smile

This is going to be fun! Smile

Rain in Oregon is pretty much guaranteed on the 4th, so July 10 should be rain-free. What do you say, webfeet?

Well I definately can't come....
Maybe in the future, though. We should turn this into a yearly thing. Smile )

Hmm. If it's on the tenth of July ... by then things should be looking up for PCT and me. We might be able to go by plane or (hopefully) just drive up there - might kidnap Almasy and take him with us. ^_^ Would you mind sharing the car with a couple of intellectual freaks who like 80's pop and making puns, Almasy?

I'll have to see how everything looks by June. Heck, my dad might come along - and he can cook ribs! I've got a friend in Walpole that PCT and I can stay with - she might come along, too (you'll meet her next month, Zola). As I said, have to see how things are when June starts.

Damn, I'm getting excited about this, now! The first Paradigm City.com Reunion!

Does anyone actually think this cookout is gonna work? If it does it's probably just going to be like 3 nerds standing on the beach eating hot dogs and quoting tv shows. If anyone actually goes to this thing I feel bad for you.
Seraphim 02-27-2004 07:48 PM
I like the chili idea. I'm 100% behind making some chili. *thumbs up!*

And I used to wonder why you had a warning to your username. Hehehe. Big Grin

I think it'll work.

It will be great Smile

Should I invite the Adult Swim people? We may be able to get them to contribute T-shirts or something... Smile

Commander Amarao: It will be more than three nerds, I assure you. This may come as a surprise to you, but many of us have begun to meet in real life and have formed enduring friendships.

Hmm...I'll have to get back to you on that one, Lady Tesser! Wink Smile

You know this thing does sound really good, and if i get a job, and i make a good amount of money, and IF i'm really lucky and manage to get a ride, then, i think i'll be there! Big Grin
Lady Tesser 02-27-2004 07:56 PM
Exactly, Zola. I met my husband online at a Project A-Ko message board. Everyone from the board was invited to our wedding. We hung out at Kennedy Space Center, drew pics, goofed off, ran around the beach. One of the ladies (the one I mentioned earlier) was my Matron of Honor. One of the guys caught the garter. My best friends danced with the guy who came all the way from Australia to our wedding. One of the guys stood ominously in the background of the pictures and his eyes glowed red. We broke into a spontaneous chorus of 'O Canada' and several participated in a kick-line - NO BOOZE WAS INVOLVED.

I say my entire wedding proves that board members who get together can have a great time.
Crystalline 02-27-2004 08:04 PM
Actually, I think it'll be a blast. I doubt I'll be able to get there, though, funds are too low. But I'll have a cook-in of my own to honour the day. Tongue George Foreman and I are good friends, after all. Tongue

These things usually end up very successful. I've seen it happen, Asheron's Call get-togethers always worked out great! I'm sure this one will be awesome. ^_^

All the best, guysers!
BigPrime 02-27-2004 08:22 PM
Well, I shouldn't have any problems with July 10. It'd just be a matter of getting the day off work, and that's easy enough. I'll probably even have a car of my own then, so I won't have to worry about depriving another family member of one for the day. Smile

O_o
NO! Don't! We don't know them like we know people here...there's more of a bond here.

*grabs Zola's idea and burns it using Schwarzwald's lighter*
