So...I was home for the holidays, and family has cable...
I was in the middle of reading a 1930s detective novel, and had CN playing in the background...mainly waiting for Cowboy Bebop (...I really need to buy that series)
So...anyway, fade to black catches my eye...and CN is *quoting the book I'm reading*
And I find that super-freaky, since I don't know many people who have even *heard* of Dorothy Sayers.
...so I watch what comes next.
And it's this really awesome Art Deco style anime...that for some reason is called Big O. And there's a character named Dorothy. Once again this is a super-freaky coincidence because of the setting and author of my book. And it also riffs heavily on Fritz Lang's Metropolis, which i'd just bought.
...so I keep watching.
Dorothy is about the coolest anime character ever...character/set designs (what I saw of them) were really good. Unfortunately, based on the pics on this site, I think what I saw was the last three episodes followed by the first one. So the plot went over my head a little.
I had trouble convincing my mom the next morning that the whole thing was not some chili-cheese-fry-induced dream. Little bro backed me up, though...so at least on this point my sanity is clear.
