re-animate 02-25-2004 07:56 PM
it is very seldom i venture astray from the general disscussion.

based on a japaneese source, the the title of the popular and demented show "fooly cooly" or "furi Kuri" means:

[contains a censord word]

spoiler (highlight to read):
Ass Fondoling

im not sure if its true, but i wouldnt be surprised
Wingnut 02-25-2004 08:06 PM
Well, even if it refers to that, at least we finally know what the heck it means. In that case, Fooly Cooly can be traced at to at least 500 years ago with a peverted monk named Miroku. Tongue
Silv3rKnigh1 02-25-2004 09:26 PM
lol I doubt that to the extreeme

Fooly and Cooly are from a rock song
re-animate 02-25-2004 10:45 PM
well i think its true

maby furi kuri then?
Trotsky 02-25-2004 10:48 PM
uhh i dont rember them saying Furi Kuri exept for in the searies, it's just FLCL in the manga, i always figured it ment hoy-poly, or quagmire. Gigiddy, Gigiddy, Gidgiddy, Gididdy.
BigPrime 02-25-2004 10:59 PM
I think it's just nonsense. I mean, if it actually meant something, why would Kamon have to ask Naota what it meant (thinking that because he was the main character he'd know)?
Patsai 02-25-2004 11:03 PM
Furi Kuri is a slang term that's been used for four years now in the streets of the teenage Japanese societies. I don't believe it's

I think they tell you in the DVDs. Ask Manji. He should know.
Ace of Spades 02-26-2004 11:38 AM
It could be just a nonsense word.

Don't worry Roan, I edited out the long quotes. Krang once said not to go overboard with them, since they do get really annoying...Sweatdrop ~The Fallen Phoenix

Well when nyou think about it

us japanese can't say "l"

I think th at the basic word they are trying to say is Fooly Cooly

Fu kinda sounds like: FOO
and Ri: Ly

Ku: Coo
Ri: ly

Well If I literaly translate it, it's

chestnut appearance... lol
or it could be

Chestnut Rainfall/Snowfall

Kuri kuri is Japanaese onomot..onamota...that long word that means a word that emulates a sound (squish, bang, woop) for kneading dough. Its also slang for breast fondling.

However, the phrase 'furi kuri' is nonsense. I believe the director says so himself in the DVD commentary.
