Most Annoying Anime Character?

Raven 03-09-2004 01:27 PM
Vash is kinda annoying at times but mostly he's more funny than annoying
Wazpy 03-09-2004 02:15 PM
Vash is awesome when he's happy early on...but once he gets depressed...well at that point I'd ask him to shoot me and put me out of my misery...but it would just make him more depressed and annoying.
Travis Bickle 03-09-2004 02:15 PM
Anybody in the DBZ Frieza saga, Lord Baby, Ash Ketchum, EVERY FREAKING CHARACHTER IN DIGIMON, that girl from Ah! My Godesses who everybody treats poorly but she still seems nice, everyone in Pilot Candidate, everyone in Saint Saiya, and Dr. Robotnick

I know that Vash hates hurting people, and that's my point. There are situations where a person like Vash only has two options: Kill the guilty, or let the innocent be killed. If recognize this, then you'll hesitate, and that means putting innocent lives in danger. A true hero is someone like Kenshin, who recognizes this fact. You don't have to *enjoy* hurting others, but you must realize that sometimes it's the only thing you can do. While I'd imagine Vash can recognize this too, he seems like he hesitates too much.

TRIGUN is probably my second favorite anime of all time, theres many tied for first lol. Trigun is so emotional, and you have to watch the entire shwo to get its beauty.

I'll admit, that could very well be the case. But from what I've seen, I wouldn't go out of my way to watch Trigun. Ironically, this means I can never know enough about it for my criticisms to have real weight. So, feel free to ignore me.

Have you watched enough Trigun to know that
spoiler (highlight to read):
Vash isn't a person at all, but a super-being?

That's just the thing. The difference between Kenshin is that Kenshin is a normal human who happens to be really, really good at swordfighting. Vash is so far beyond us that it's not even funny. For example, in Episode 23, he manages to triangulate a person's location by calculating the trajectory that bullets hit things, timing the rifle reports, and calculating distance. He does all this while evading gunfire, by the way. Likewise, he figures out the exact spots he needs to hit the fist of Gosef Nebraska, which is the size and mass of a bus, to change its flight path, all in a matter of seconds. That's why Vash is so unwilling to kill anyone- because he is so intelligent and able to think of solutions faster and better than a regular person, he believes that he should never have to resort to that, but be able to think through his problems and find a way to save everyone.

spoiler (highlight to read):
Vash is a genetically altered plant (not literally) who can move around on his own independently. His race is used to power the giant light bulbesque generators which give power to the people living on the giant dust ball. He also has the power to make plants grow so that may lead me to the conclusion that he really is a plant. Knives hatred of humanity was instilled in him because of discrimination, which never results in anything good. But for someone claiming to be so intelligent using one human and one situation to evaluate a race's worth isn't very smart. If I was Vash after Knives was crippled then I would walk nonchalantly up to him and stick that big six to his forehead and pull the trigger...(BANG)
Schoolie 03-11-2004 06:11 PM
Vash is cool. He's goofy because he's lived over a hundred years and has a heavy burden to bear. And he's got values that he won't compromise. Humanoid Typhoon. Cool. The Stamede.

I've yet to nail down the most annoying anime character in my book, but Armuro Ray from the original Mobile Suit Gundam was not a favorite of mine. He was whiny, childish, wimpy, and altogether too fragile to be the "every-man" hero dragged into a war.
YoruameBaroness 03-13-2004 10:55 PM
Kizuna from Pilot Candidate got on my absolute last nerves.
Mr. Fortnight 03-14-2004 12:01 AM
I'm not sure if she's been mentioned here, but I can pretty much sum up the blackest heart of irritating that has ever been spawned in Anime...

Chibi Usa/Rini. Effing Chibi Moon.

Yes, that pink haired meanace to society.

She's irritatingly cute, annoying to the Nth degree, and... and... did I mention she was annoying!!!!! ARRGGH!

She's burned into my mind... I'm damaged for life!!!

Sephiroth 03-14-2004 06:01 PM
Ash Ketchum and everyone else on that infernal show they call pokemon! I really want to strangle him!!!! Also every person who is on digimon except for the cast of the first season they were cool!
Finally and perhaps most annoying of them all..........Joey, Tristan, Taya, and Yugi from Yu-Gi-oh! GOD they are all stereo types!!! Their personalities never change!!! Nothing phases them!!
YoruameBaroness 03-14-2004 06:05 PM
Actually, Rini is the epitome of annoying characters. Chibi Moon, Chibi-Usa, or whatever the hell her name is, I hate her with a passion.

And I get the pleasure of reviving an old thread...

This actually interested me because I have quite the list of annoying little anime bastards that I would like to get out as well and everybody else's nominees have been very interesting. And because of everyone else before me, I now don't have to watch Trigun. Big Grin

Asaka Langley Soryu (Neon Genesis Evangelion):
She cool and attractive and everything but I just wished that she would stop being so fake and try to impress everybody. It really gets annoying. And the way she treats Shinji... Damn, girl, we know you like him. Just shut up and let the boy lay his game on you Big Grin And another, stop yelling all the damn time!!!

Pan (Dragonball GT):
I don't really think I have to explain this but she has got to be the most annoying character that was spawned from all three of the Dragonball series. Just watching her makes me sick and the sad thing is, she is one the best highlights in GT. (That's probably what makes GT such an unforgivable crap).

Dragonball GT:
Actually, when you think of it, the series is a disgrace. From Pan to the Black Star Dragonballs, Gokou turning into a kid, Goten and Gohan period, Videl (I hate her and Mr. Satan with a passion), Bra Confused , and they downgraded Vegeta and Piccolo so much, they would have better if they were just killed off (although Piccolo was). So many plotholes and soooo much crammed together that it didn't even try toying with the notion of making sense. And please, don't get me started on Super Saiyan 4...

Yu-Gi-Oh:
To be honest, I used to watch and enjoy the show... before Pegasus was defeated. After that, I might as well be watching DBGT. Every character was annoying with that damned, f***ed up hairstyles. The problems with the show is that they try very hard to shove down our throats that kids who should be doing normal things (like school) are everyday risking their lives to save the world with... CARD GAMES?! At least in Evangelion, it was tolerable to have kids save the world with bio-androids but card-games? W.T.F.? And listening to Tea's friendship speeches has got to be the most embrassing thing in the world of anime...

Pokemon:
Come on! Ash Ketchum's voice is alone enough to hate the show but then there's Misty (did Ash and Misty actually kiss on the show? Just curious...), Team Rocket, and the Pokemon themselves. It was cute at first, but damn, the concept just seems stupid.

Envy (FullMetal Alchemist):
Basically, he (or she. At least in my book) is the only character that I despise in FMA. He killed Hughes, he's always dressed in drag, and he has the most annoying voice I've possibly ever heard. (I know, or think, that he's voiced by a woman, but that's not even the point). And to think that
spoiler (highlight to read):
he's actually Ed and Al's older half brother (if he was human to begin with of course)
just pisses me off.

And now for the World Champion of annoying anime characters, and this character defends the title night in and night out. People, I give you...

Shinji Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion):
We all know this kid is annoying like you know what and it seems like he was tailor made to be that way. Cries and whines every couple of seconds, is angry at his daddy but still yearns for his respect and more crying and crying and crying. I really like the kid and you can feel for him as well but we all have our limits and after a while you start wondering where this kid's manhood is and if he can ever stop crying. Damn, if I have the powers that rivaled God, I wouldn't be crying about it. Bitch.

Soory if its long and that's it for me.
Peace.

Cutie Honey

Hayami Junpei- Damn it, was he annoying! He's basically the "annoying little brother sidekick". Never helping anyone, just getting in the way, and being annoying. Thankfully he's only in the first Cutie Honey series.

Dragon Ball Z

ChiChi- I have to admit, she can be funny sometimes. But by the Freeza saga I just wanted someone to kill her already. Damn.
David Ryder 01-12-2006 06:23 PM
Eva: Everyone actually. The entire cast are abunch of Emo kids. Shinji's father is about the only cool dude.

anything DB related: yep, although Piccolo was pretty cool.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Yeah hurray let's play cards! Charecter wise I've seen better. "But OMFG 4kids edited it!" face it was a kids show to begin with.

Inuyasha: yeah pretty much standard cookie cutter Romiko Takahashi stuff.

Naruto: lol basically everyone, Kakashi's cool though oh and .... *insert random japanomatic rant*

Probally more I could add but meh.
corrupt 01-12-2006 07:46 PM
thingy is annoying err what was it..

ed from full metal, yeah he's annoying and so is that kid whos evil, rage or something.
Randolph 01-12-2006 11:16 PM
Hellsing's Valentine brothers take the cake in my eyes.
They weren't in the manga, as far as I know, and neither of them
has a shred of competence.

While Luke was a piteous blowhard with no substance,
Jan was a motormouth scumsack which drove me half mad.
Listening to his ridiculous dialogue was torture,
as it was almost entirely comprised of "Man! F**kin' [noun] f**k [adjective] [verb] F**K!"

What made him truly unforgivable, however, was how he
spoiler (highlight to read):
committed suicide with a smile on his face, robbing me of the pleasure of watching him die horribly at the hands of Alucard, Seras or Walter.

If only he and Luke could have switched places.
Ah, well.
