Cast in the name of God Ye not Guilty

Those pistons on Big O suck in air, then they blast it out in a massive, compressed blast. I've been waiting to say that for a long time! Like I said before, we would know at least which definition of cast is being used if we saw it in some other language.

Well and good ... but the uestion reamins as to the relevance of The Phrase.

I've fielded my idea - that Big O is an executioner's weapon, to remove any Megadeus that is used for criminal purposes.

Any thoughts?

i got an online translating program to translate our favorite phrase into japanese and then back to english. it came out as:

Casting ones of the name of ye of the God which is crime.

i dunno if that really helps, but i'll try other languages as well

Um ... translating a translation can be dangerous. When General Douglas 'Bud' MacArthur shoved a constitution down the throat of Japan, he mostly just directly translated the US Constitution. One ... interesting ... oddity that came from that is the phrase "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happines", which - when translated to Japanese and re-translated back into English - comes out as "Liscense to Commit Lustful Pleasures".

The Japanese do love their Constitution.

I happen to have read this thread a couple days ago and then saw the season 2 episode on AdultSwim.
I saw in one seen when Roger Smith is saying "This is about anything recent" it seems like a flash back to the time RD was about and on the windows that phrase was etched..."Cast in the name of God Ye Not Guilty".
Could RD and that phrase scribbled everywhere be connected in some way??

Yup, that's what's creepy!! How did R.D. know that phrase and why use it?

Was that shown in any earlier episodes by any chance?
(I haven't seen everyone of them I'm afraid )

If not it migh show up even more in future episodes...which I don't doubt. But the thing is...it seems that that particular flashback was one to when Roger might have started out in the negotiating business.
I could possibly be very wrong in that statement but it's worth a shot

I have a theory. "Cast in the name of god, ye not guilty" was used for executioners weapons, wich destroy criminals. The Big O was created to destroy bad guys / rouge megadeuces / whatever. R-D was created to destroy people with memories. Perhaps the phrase is some sort of universal used by robots when they are created for destructive purposes.

I found a translation from Big O in Japan here it is: "I, in God's name created this. And thus, it is not a crime"

This leads me to wonder...this seems to be a message from the person who created Big O. Apparently the Megadei were created in God's name, not image as we constantly debate. But now I'm wondering as to the reasons for their creation of the Megadei, it seems as though the more we learn the more questions we have...

Well, that's how things are. I think many questions will be answered with Big Fau's debut, and we should keep up coming up with questions so we can get them all answered in the next few months.

Still, at least we know what meaning of cast is being used in the phrase. That might help explain things in the future. For now, I guess taht we'll just have to wait, we may yet learn the significane of the phrase...
