Season 3 Discussion

I think the chief problem is that CN and Sunrise can't decide if it's wise to create a new season of Big O, for it would appear that the show is sealed quite nicely. Re-opening it might allow it to get stale. I think, that inded only ONE more season of Big O would be tolerable. To try and stretch it again aftewards would make it go very stale indeed.
However one more season is tolerable, even encouragable. I do want to see what happens when Paradigm is reset. And I do want to see more of Schwarzwald, and the Bigs.

Did you actually watch Ep 25 and Ep 26, they created more questions in those two episode then answers. Plus, we don't know if it was a 'complete' reset.
Can you imagine the chaos if it was a 'partial' reset.
Also, on DVD sells; due to DVD sell and decent rating, they are bring back the Family Guy series with 35 new episodes (the original only had 28 episodes).
Perhaps we should do like the Farscape Fans did and mail copies of our Big O DVD receipts.

I find the ending of Act 26 to be almost like the end of Act 13. Many questions are raised and although one could plausibly end the series there, it seems to me that enough issues were thrown out to keep a new season going.
However, I do think the ending of 26 is more final than 13 was. Still, it's very possible to continue the series imho.

I see all these discussions about whether or not we will have one, but nobody seems to discuss what it will be like.
I think it will continue to use the same style, music and all that stuff while trying out new villians. Plus someone could try and solve the misteries of the Super Dome and who built it.

Well, since the second season was...err...wrapped-up (?) in a manner that I never would have guessed until I saw it with my own two eyes, logic tells me that there's no telling what they'll do, next.
What do I hope for?
That they'll quit trying to be clever and just tell me a good action-packed sci-fi story while leaving the goofy symbolism and religious themes on a shelf somewhere.
I like to think the characters and setting would be so much better without that stuff, and they could easily deliver on it.
I feel that episodes like #1, #4, #12, and #13 blow the second season ones out of the water, so I'd like more made in that manner.

I would really like to see it, but i really have no idea how they could start a new season. They ended it, and i see no possible way to mke even ONE new episode... let alone a whole new season.

Then have a read at A Clockwork Tomato's 3rd season work and see if you feel the same after reading it. THere is a link in his signature to it so just find any post of his and click on the Act 27 link in his sig and read away.

Like at the bottom of this posting, for example.
I wrote Act 27 after one person too many had told me that it was impossible, and kept going until my Season 3 had 13 episodes. Continuing the story was actually pretty straightforward, since a great many story lines were available to choose from. In fact, the situation is almost exactly the opposite of what people claim it is. Instead of having everything resolved and nowhere to go, almost nothing was resolved by Season 2, and the sky's the limit!
Basically, Acts 24-26 removed Alan, Alex, and Vera; showed that Roger had overcome his aversion to android love; revealed (via the probe-cable interface in Dorothy's skull) interesting stuff about Dorothy's affinity to Megadeuses and hinted at its proper use; indicated (via the screening of WINTER NIGHT PHANTOM and Little Dan and Little Sybil in the audience) that there is some kind of weird reincarnation of persons and repetition (with variations) of events -- but to no obvious purpose; that Angel loves Roger but isn't willing to abuse her godlike powers to make him hers; that Dastun has fallen in love with Angel; that Megadeuses, more than men, lie at the center of all of Paradigm's mysteries; that Beck has a conscience after all.
Most of these things do less to resolve the story than they do to provide ways of continuing it.

How about James Earl Jones as Big O's voice?
Example:

Big O-

Big Fau-
*Crying*"NOOOOOOOO!!!"
*Falls over and blows up*
And for Season 3? I totally agree with ACT on it.
Not only can they make a 3rd season, they have enough story lines to make it good.
The story line I would like most to see completed is the one from 'Dorothy, Dorothy', where Roger was wondering why Soldano called Dorothy his daughter, when he had denied it earlier in the show.
That's been bugging me since the first time I saw Big O.

I always thought Soldano wanted his big Dorothy, the one with claws, but he wasn't gonna tell Roger that.
Season 3 all the way! No more sleepless nights!

Wingnut, when you mentioned the Cowboy Bebop movie, Cowboy Bbeop is completly different than Big O. There is no real straight storyline in Cowboy Bebop, but Big o is all about story, so it is easy to make a movie about cowboy Bebop, but not about Big O.

No, that's not quite true. The main story of the anime is how Spike must pay for his past sins. The whole Vicious line is very continguous. Also, IMHO, another point of the series is that life doesn't have a theme. It is what you make of it. Don't expect too much, though.

Yeah, I just read Clockworks Act 27, and i guess I could see them making a season 3. The reason that I did not beieve it in the first place is because I am a little bit confused on the whole control roomm thing. Many people are telling me different theories, and i am not sure which one to believe. I am kind of leaning towards te idea that the whole Paradigm city in the show is just a program that is controlled by Angel Rosewater in the outside world. But from what some people are telling me, that is not entirely true, but that would make a whole lot of things in the show more understandable. Act 27 was very well written , and I could definetly see it happening, nic work Clockwork, and keep up the good work.
Not only would a sequal be possible, and a great idea, I also like the idea of a prequal to the series as well.

I'm sorry is this has already been brought up, but has it occurred to anyone to simply go directly to the source for information on a third season (or even for an explanation concerning the mysteries behind the second one...)?
The Story Editor/Writer in chief has a
website and even an
E-mail address (the site says to use "To Chiaki J. Konaka:********" as the subject). I'm sure if anyone were to know anything, he would be one of the best people to ask.

Does he speak english? If he does we should send him thank you letters...and maybe hint about a season 3.

I really dont see how letters will help that much. I mean, Cartoon network realizes that they have a hit show on their hands, or they wouldnt have made a second season. I wont help that much, just try and think of a new way to do it. They understand that we want a third season, and i am confident that they will make a third season.

Trust me, possitive re-enforcement is always a good thing. We have to assure them that we have not lost interest. It takes quite a bit of money to produce any piece of TV. When I make a major (or even marginnally major) purchase I like to be assured ahead of time that it's not a *huge* mistake.
Even if they are already thinking they'll do a season three letters are still a good idea. There's no telling where on there list of priorites 'The Big O' is, if we show them that we really want this now it might encourage them to push it up that list a little.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I know next to nothing about how television works.

Dork, you are absolutely correct. It does take a lot of money to make any show. That's part of the the reason reality TV is popular.

There is vitually no script writing. That and that we're all voyuers.
Letting them know our interest is vital. I wonder if writing to Sunrise and Bandai would help ?
