Season 3 Discussion

I'll always be up for a Season 3. I think Big-O deserves it, and after seeing RahXephon, which Konaka had a hand in prior to working on Season 2, I think Big-O needs it even more to solidify itself. If RahXepon's story had been cut short, we would hae missed out on a lot.

I think it may eventually happen, but it'll take a while. I don't think anyone saw the continuation of Dangaioh coming FOURTEEN YEARS after it had begun. And you see series like Trigun now making a showing for a movie, and Raideen's coming back after some 30 years since the original, too. Given this trend, I think SUNRISE will eventually dig back into their archives, and sooner rather than later. Time will tell, though.

Im glad to see that somebody see that. It will come people just keep ahowing support for it. Dont get discouraged after the bastards at adultswim show their ass. It is coming can you feel it?

The creation of the third season I do not want to say will probably not happen since the second season ended with what appeared time being reset back to the first episode made. I still hope for a third season. Let me know what you think.

Well at the end of what appeared to be a reset you see that Dorothy was still wearing the maid outfit she wore while she was staying at Rogers place.

Larry99: It has been documented at least twice that Konaka-san (head writer for The Big-O) said there "could" be a Season 3, and that he "had an idea for it," and I got a response from a US Bandai rep saying there was a possibility for future episodes. These statements were made back in 2005, however. In 2004, Sean Akins, head of Toonami, who had a producing hand in BIG-O Season 2, said he "would love to see that finished, but [thinks] the likelihood of that is slim to none." And a majority of Cartoon Network Adult Swim reps have pretty much gone on record saying, paraphrased, that they don't think BIG-O's sales/ratings warrant a Season 3, and that they're satisfied with the current ending.

It's clear there was a concept and option for Season 3--it was in the news even before Season 2 aired!--but it just hasn't happened as of yet. I've stated previously that I think SUNRISE will be the ultimate decision-maker, because Adult Swim seems to have changed their idea of their block more toward their own comedy productions. Bandai is a key wildcard that could be an instigator of Season 3, but who knows. I still feel BIG-O 3 may happen, but I'm convinced it'll be a while. As long as support continues, there's always a chance. Time may play more into the coming of Season 3, or maybe a combination of time and fan effort; we'll have to wait and see. Despite my disappointment of it not coming yet, I am still very excited about it.

Lt Whipporwill, I love your enthusiasm, yes Season 3 will happen but only if we are willing to work to make it happen. Big O and every other anime series, was created to accomplish one thing, to make its producers as much money as possible. What we true believers need to do is convince an anime production company that they can make a lot of money by producing a third season of Big O.
That isn't as impossible as it sounds. Anime producers are unusually responsive to their fans. Simply put we need to keep working to increase the fan base, keep that base energized and let the anime world know that Big O has a large and growing fan base. However the devil is in the details, that's where the hard work comes in.
There are a lot of Big O fans who say that Season 3 will never happen. If we believe them then there won't be a Season 3.

Honestly even if they never made a s3 or movie or ova or anything... well especially if... i would simply want the writers/creators to explain some things to put my mind at rest about some things. like the flashbacks to the big battles and the super huge megaduesm and that is one tiny example.

You ever felt like anger would like to tear you apart from inside, altogether with couriosity? Well, I got that kind of feeling after watching tha last episode. I hope the third season will be released. NO. It must be released. Otherwise, I wouldn't like to be in creators skin when fans patience will be depleted.

Thats exactly how i feel. it would be like reading any good book, or even better, say deathnote just stopped being made... what happens? why did certain things that did happen, happen. Often in shows and things I like, even house (yeah i like house) there is an episode or two or three that explains past history, little things that have happened, it's called tying the plot together. While i think a "few" people prefer this mystery, like stephen king stories that leave endings open, i am not and i dont think most people are like this at least not with Big O or these forums on continuing seasons, movies, and etc would not exist.

It really has been driving me nuts forever, since it aired. I know alot of of people also say it resets back to the beginning but the clock tower was not leaning destroyed in the beginning, and its the first thing they show of the city large after dorothy and angel, but i might be mistaken. better get the old dvd out.

just a note i have my DVR record EVERY episode of Big O that ever airs ever indefinitley, it is #1 in it's priority list. so i am doing my part to get it ratings as this ensures no matter when they move it my set is tuned to it, which counts as a viewer. I do this because i have the complete collection and dont really need to watch them but still want another season, or something.... an explanation.

sorry i guess to rant here... it's just too bad that a good story is not being heard and i again, just hope they will at least post, or email someone or something if it gets to that point that it just isnt going to happen then i'll have my story closure which to me personally is really important. even though it might make me the slightest bit weird.
