Season 3 Discussion

Ban Mido 03-21-2005 07:25 PM
But the show is titled Big O, thus Big O has to make an appearence..
Logically, Big O shouldn't have made in appearence in Roger the wanderer...It showed it gritting a fist and leaning back ready to punch the two Union Megadei with the sudden impact, but not hitting them..
Really, thats a draw back of Big O, its revolving around a giant robot...
*Sighs.*

Further more, if it weren't for the animation, no show. I'm an animation freak..Hence is why I don't like Kikaider, or Tom Goes to the Mayor..
Many of you are plot freaks (Sorry if thats offensive.) I feel that a season three would only be a continuation of Big O, I.E. a run on of the whole Big O versus the World, deal. Prequal(sp) episodes, leading up to "The Event"/The start of season one would work for people all around, (If they used the original artists).:
1. Plot explaination.
2. Character development
3. Information on the Big's
4. ANIMATION!!! ><! *Spaz.*
BabyGhia 03-21-2005 07:45 PM
So, basically, what you would want to see from a season three would be a prequel? And think that if they continued on with the story it would be a lot of random megadeus fighting and continuing the same plot? Hmmm....

Personally, I'm not as much of a "plot freak" as some others. But I think a season three could be done in a way that could have some prequel aspects and still continue on. I understand, Ban Mido, how you'd think that a season three might just be repeat of the first seasons but the "plot freak" in me can't see it. Just on PCF, there are fan fics that prove you can do a season three without repeating the same old story. We haven't even seen much on what the writers had planned for season three so who knows what it will turn out to be. I guess I'm just going on faith that a season three of Big O would be great and unlike anything we've seen. Repeating the story would kill it. Not explaining the ending and just doing a prequel wouldn't answer all the questions I had at the ending also.

But that's not unreasonable. Konaka has a good track record with us, the Big O fans. Season two was incredible and unlike anything I'd seen before. Roger's character development and various revelations about himself around act 21 impress me everytime.

Konaka could screw it up, but he didn't screw up with season two, he's only gotten better the longer he's been allowed to play in the world of Paradigm City. So yeah, it's on faith that we take season three won't suck but we have so many reasons to have faith in Kanoka.

--------------------------------
One of you said 'All plot and no play make Jack a dull boy'. The plot is what's fun for many fans and probably most PCF members. My first time through Big O I always so disapointed when the battles started up, it meant the fun parts of the show were over.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being a 'plot freak', I watch Big O for the plot. Like many others I avoided Big O for years because I thought it was a stupid mecha show.

Big O may have started out life as a mindless action show but it's turned into much more, all the battles in the last seven acts of season two service the plot in one way or another mostly by either showing Roger's current mindset or expanding on the role the megadeuses have in the plot of the story. The end of season two was buliding towards something big. I suspect that megadeus battles might be de-emphasized further in season three in liu of concentrating more on what the megadeuses actually are. And if there are just as many battles, they'll be more like the ones in the last seven episodes.

Again, the dead DBZ fan in me is clawing at it's grave stone.
The Buu Saga was great!
Then....GT came..
And it SUCKED!
(In my opinion.)
Further more, theres only so much you can go on....Prequel would answer the questions about Pre-Paradigm.

Perhaps a season 3 would be healthy..But..There would need to be a prequel before a season 3 though...
My opinion....

i think a movie about roger's life before he met big o would be very nice. it would clear things up like why he doesn't use guns.

as for a season three...

YES, YES, AND DID I FORGET TO MENTION YES? Pleased i wanted to know why angel didn't send roger to some other vortex-demsion of death thingy like she did with alex. not only that i want to see who takes over paradigm co. and paradigm city! Cool

.........Alex was Destroyed *sobs* Not sent to a parallel Diminson * I think thats how you spell it.*. As for Roger AND Discussion The of Season 3
......If they do make on they need to have a Big Chiron, Big Death and Big Shedow. There Daminus Hunters.

The Story: They come to Paradgim In search of Alex and Roger but find out that the two are helping each other. SO THEY TRY TO DESTROY THEM!!!!
Ban Mido 03-22-2005 02:43 PM
Hmm...
*Taps chin.*
Perhaps the trio..
><! Are Roger, Alex, and Schwarzwald/Alan
*Sigh.*
But yes...Prequel...
Captain Maw 03-22-2005 03:01 PM
ignore the subject.

i have to say the plot is the best thing about The Big O. i just said that to open our minds and to see your responses.

now, a "season 0" about the life of roger before big o, would just be a big question solver. seeing as there is minimal big o fighting, and more question answering and reminiscing etc. (i.e. how did roger get so rich?, days in The Force (Military Police), The Mansion, The Event, et cetera)

maybe a season 3, with a few 'flashback' episodes could go. savvy?
Ban Mido 03-22-2005 03:29 PM
But you see, season three would be more flashbacks, which would bring about more questions...It may answer some, but it would rise more..
Personally I wanna know whats with the gear system under Paradigm..
I.E. the colapsed gear system that is 3 billion times larger than Big O..
The first time I saw it I thought it was a bug on my screen....And then..O.o; I realized...It was Big O...That little black spec...
*Sigh.*
Anyhow...
Season three wouldn't answer that for me....But thats just my opinion..
*Is Anti-Season three.*
Gerbera345 03-24-2005 03:20 AM
Well we know the gear assembly is a decrepit wreck in current Paradigm, and flashbacks may not show it as it only popped up for a brief period. I would like to see flashback episodes of some sort that explain some of the background stuff, they could show why massive sections of New York are submerged but still intact (bombs wouldn't sink the landmass and leave the building intact, powered, and with unbroken windows..) why the last Paradigm City failed and possibly the reason for the continuous presence of Roger Smith.

Although flashbacks would leave some more questions floating around it certainly would have the opprotunity to answer some major ones (like why does Paradigm City appear to rest on top of destroyed machinery of absolutely monolithic proportions).

I'd certainly love to see a Season III. Although if they want to do it right they could release another manga tieing in that could answer a mountain of questions or possibly could be set in the first Paradigm City and could end with the 'birth' of the Paradigm we saw in Season I and Season II.

That way a Season III could be set in the third Paradigm City while the manga could concentrate entirely on the Season I Paradigm City and answer some of the questions Season II raised.
Captain Maw 03-25-2005 10:38 AM
in the act.7, is it? angel and roger are underwater. The buildings still have light and the windows are intact, however roger says the pressure underwater is enough to kill them. How does that ancient glass (which can be broken by a chair) can't be destroyed by the water pressure, thats supposedly strong enough to kill them? not to mention, the electricity is highly conductable through water, yet a lot of the buildings still get electricity. Not to mention, there are so many fish and stuff, but no coral, algae, anemonies (spelling, argh) and other creatures living off the buildings and the surfaces underwater.
Ban Mido 03-25-2005 02:34 PM
The reason why the glass hasn't broken is following the same reason why glass doesn't break in an airplane. The pressure is equalized *Motions to the flooded lobby.*.
Coral can only grow in warm water, and by the looks of Paradigm, that water isn't warm.
By warm I mean 50 Degrees, to 60 degrees.
Further more the "servants of the sea Titan" have turned the power on, thus they must've secured the power lines powering only those rooms.
Algae isn't present because of the current from the Hudson river, it can't grow there because it's so powerful. The fish navigate behind the buildings and live in the buildings that aren't powered.
Paradigm is New York, we figured that out from the dialog and a map of Paradigm compared to New York's Manhatten.

I'm sure that's why some people like the show, but not all of them. I don't think the show was ever originally intended to just be another mecha show that dazzled audiences with fighting robots. I didn't start watching Big O for that reason, in fact, I wouldn't watch Big O at all at first because I thought it was just a show full of random megadeus fighting. I think the mass appeal to the show is the storyline - I mean, sure, pretty colors and fast moving, fighting robots are neat, but they won't hold my interest and keep me coming back for more every single night. I think the megadeus battles are more of a supplement to the show to perhaps attract the mecha crowd, but it's real draw is in it's complex storyline.

Thank God for those robot fights, otherwise I would have never started watching the show! I generally don't like anime, but I have been a huge fan of gaint monster movies for years. So I was by chance watching through the first episode, being mildly interested, until suddenly out of nowhere it suddenly turned into a giant robot fight. My thoughts were along the lines of "*Cockney accent* What's all this then, eh?" I was hooked.

Oh course, the plot of Big O is awesome and is why I continued to watch the show. The robot battles are just the delicious icing on a very tasty cake.

holy crap, same story here, except the episode i saw was The Big Fight and i tuned in the fight between o and inferno. that was what got me hooked. i have to say i hate most anime since i see a lot of it as shallow and saccharine. but the big o is an exeption.

Would love to see a Third Season of "Big O". I would like to see them expand upon the relationship between Roger & Dorothy. A smart show is better than some of the junk that looks like it was brought over from Public Access TV on the cheap. =^-^=

Hey I'm not sure what you guys have been doing to show your support for a third season but I sent an E-mail to Bandai asking about and giving suggestions for a third season and I was given an interesting response...

Dear ,

I'm guessing you've seen Big O 2. I haven't seen the entire series so
I'm not very sure about the plot. Currently there are no plans on
releasing a third season. The series was co-produced with Cartoon
Network, and there haven't been any announcements for a new production.
However, Big-O has a rich content, and a third season is possible.

Regards, support@bandai-ent.com

I don't know about the rest of you but I find this response very encouraging. So if you can find the time why don't you see if you can get some friends to email Bandai about it as well?

Well at least they haven't completely closed the book on a 3rd season.
Lyinginbedmon 05-06-2005 05:35 PM
But they're not exactly saying it's been written in Metropolis either Tongue

Perhaps the big Gordon-memory-speech at the end was supposed to make us want a third season? I mean come on, he practically screams "It's up to you!", as if he wants the viewers to continue the series where he left off.
Zopwx2 05-07-2005 04:17 PM
I've overrreacted before, but this seems very odd. From the Adult Swim Announcements Folder:
