I had this big elaborate scheme to get a season three message to Adult swm, but my computer restarted, and since study hall is almost over, i will get back to you when i get home. I dont think that sending letters i sthe answer since they probably dont read them. save your 32 cents.
... and by the way, nice avatar madrona
Actually they probably do read them. And even if they don't they at least skim them for content.
A major part of the Save Farscape campaign involved letter writing. They wrote to Jim Henson, television networks and companies that advertised during 'Farscape'. And eventually they did get the show back. We're lucky. We can concentrate our letter writing efforts on Adult Swim.
Of course 'The Big O' is in far less trouble than Farscape was. If the ratings really were as good for season two as I heard they were than it would be extremly un-wise for AS not to fund more episodes.
I wanna see what happens in the control room!
anywho,

They might read them , but i highly doubt that they actually take them into consideration when they are thiinking about aking the show. Unlike us they know exactly what the whole show is about and they are probably putting together a movie, or new episodes to try and explaiun it even more as we speak. Have you sent any in Dork?I'm just curious to see how many people actually snd them in instead of saying they sent them in. Never mind, im an idiot. you could just tell me that you sent them in an i wouldnt know the difference. Has anyone sent mail into adult swim? As for trhe control room, i agree i am really anxious to find out what that was all about. So much was left unanswered, and that is why i bet that they are on there way to producing a next season.

There is only rumours. No solid evidence, but I think AS seems to like hinting at it.

Yeah I notice they like to mess with us... a lot...
I wish for once they would give us a straight answer...

They don't have the legal right to announce anything w/o the approval of Bandai and Sunrise, the Japanese companies behind the show.

They haven't officially announced work on it yet, but everyone hopes they are. The guys at Williams Street seem to like the idea of a third season (they like Big O as much as we do, after all. If not more, as it brings them money as well as entertainment), and they can option up to 26 more episodes. It'll probably be just a matter of time until official word comes, one way or another.
CAn you imagine that? 26 more episodes?
I remember thinking it was a bummer that Babylon 5 *only* had 110 -hour long- episodes.
It's only a matter of time before we get another season. Adult Swim's hinting at it and we desperately want it, so we'll probably get it eventually.
Question: How long do shows typically stay in AS's line up before being rotated out?
I have all the episodes already but it's still sad to see it leave tv

I dont know, I really don tsee a better show to replace it with. They have Lupin III, which is one of my favorites, but there arent too many episodes of that. They usually only have that on for like a few weeks. They seem to have gotten rid of Kikaider, which I also liked. The only other thing that they could have replaced it with would have to beb bebop. Which they already have on at like 2:00 am. I really dont see what they could replace it with. I never saw babylon 5. Im not really into the Sci Fi deal. Im more of just an anime guy. So I cant really compare.

There are actually over 300 episodes of Lupin the Third (and over 100 alone in the particular series they air). AS only has a few in their library though. I suppose they'd buy more if its ratings were higher, but they're always low so it's hard to justify it I guess. The low ratings are the reason it never stays on for long, they even said it in the cards on its last rotation.
Kikaider's off for now, but it could always return. AS tends to rotate older shows in and out from time to time. Though with all the changes to the AS lineup that're coming, it probably won't be too soon, simply because there's a lot of new shows they have to air this year.
Okay, so how did everyone here find out about the second season? It was in a press release, wasn't it? So like, what happened then, did you keep checking on the press releases every week or did you read it in an online article?
I very much doubt we would fight find out about S3 from bumpers.

Having been gone for some weeks, and having had much time to think, and now having read these posts...
I agree that writing letters to AS would encourage a third season. Now if 100,000 letters come in the mail every day demanding more Lupin, AS would probably start buying up ALL Lupin eps, start showing double eps back-to-back, and may even show a movie. The same could happen with Big O; they get mail demanding it, they talk it over with CN, CN decides it's really wanted, they talk it over with Japanese corps, Japanese corps set the anime-makin' wheels in motion.
Now since nobody has really talked too much about what this new season would and should contain....
It would most certainly be very similar to the earlier seasons, only I expect that Roger would suddenly start to recover memories of everything that happened during S1-S2. He would then go on to find out about the Director, and slowly start to unravel the mystery of the memories once and for all.
However I do think that more robot action is needed. The battles are too short. As with many anime, the first 20 minutes are devoted to talk-talk-talk blah-blah-blah about the storyline, and then the last ten minutes come up flinging whoosh-bang. Big O S3 should have at least 15 minutes of said whoosh-bang, and the Bigs should become more prominent. After all, the Bigs contain all of the memories. As far as I can see, the Bigs contain ALL the memories from the past resets and from prior to 40 years ago...
...so why don't they just use one of those video-memory thingies like they used in Eyewitness on Big O? That I would like to see.
And I want more Schwarzy! After all, it seems that the "actors" are brought back to life after each reset of the "stage".
At last! Old Coney can uncover the truth!! I do so want to know the ending of Schwarzwald's final sentence.
"The true memories, they were--!"
KABOOM
So sad. I shall go blow my last 32 cents writing to AS now.
Well, I think season three should have *less* battle scenes. What makes Big O great is the plot.
I'm kidding about this; I don't think it should have a battle scene every single friggin' episode. Those last six episodes of season 2 were a real drain. battle battle battle exposition battle battle Beck steals Dorothy battle battle battle exposition battle battle little more exposition battle Dorothy waking up from the dead to save Roger's sorry butt exposition satanic megadeus resets the city @_@
more plot, less battle.
yup, yup.
But they'll never do it. Because it's about the -insert sarcastic tone here- megadeuses. Grrrg. . .

Plot is good, but did we not get our fair share with S1-S2? There's few enough questions to be answered over an entire new season, even if half the show (or more) is Megadeus battles. The Bigs appear to be the key to the memories; why else would they be there if not to aid the heroes and villains in finding the memories? Who knows, having them come out more often might help solve the puzzle.
And another thing, how much more plot can they possibly contrive for a new season? There's only so much they can say. They could probably answer every single question in a single ep if they so desired. But to make a whole new season they would require at least 13 eps, and what else can they fill it in with but Megadeus battles?
I see no harm in more robot combat. I think it would be a nice break. And besides, wasn't it exciting how at the end of Act 25 everybody finally had enough and prepared to duke it out to the very end? Alex himself said he had "had just about enough" of the philosophy and blah-blah-blah. The time had come for them to battle. I say; let them!

I dunno. A lot of the robot battles in BIG O are pretty lame. Making them longer would just make them lamer.
It's as if the creators are trying to write anime for grown-ups, but certain things cause them to forget all about this and reset themselves into kiddie-cartoon mode. Giant robot battles are one of these, partly because of the gratuitous collateral damage by Big O when he appears, and partly because of the lame weapons and combat. Examples of gratuitous collateral damage include Big O's his first appearance in Act 1 and the time he pointlessly guts an occupied skyscraper in ENEMY IS ANOTHER BIG, presumably killing everyone inside, only to have to immediately descend to ground level. Lame weapons and combat are exemplified by Big Fau's "slow harmless flying arm attack that flies through a building that wasn't there a second ago" and the insane optimism of all those folks who bring drills to a laser battle.
I see this in other animators' work, too. Miyazaki's studio has been messing around with realistic animation, but when they first used it to any great extent (in PORCO ROSSO), they felt compelled to draw some of the characters in an exaggeratedly anime funny-character style -- Fio's grandfather and the air pirates, in particular. It was almost as if they had merged a Popeye cartoon with a live-action movie.

I personally hope there is another series. I especially hope it explains just what the hell happened in Act 26!

How would you feel if season 3 was called Big Duo and was based on Schwartzwolds view of the Big O story.
Maybe he knew everything and thats why he went across the desert to find the studio exit.

I don't find the Big O robot battles lame. I find the weapons the Bigs use mysterious. It's kind of creepy, because no one can ever really know how many or what kind of weapons the Bigs have, not even the Domini that pilot them. The weapons are in fact rather cool-looking. Can you say flat-out that the Chromebuster is boring?
The mass destruction doesn't look all that gratuitous to me. It's actually an accurate portrayl of giant robot combat. If they fight in a city, buildings WILL be smashed. And Big O came up through the skyscraper because that's where Roger called him from. Had he wanted to save the building he would have had to take the elevator to ground level and then run all the way to some vacant lot and then summoned Big O, by which time Schwarzwald would have killed him in Big Duo.
I agree that Roger is not taking the people within these buildings into consideration, but then again, most of them appear to be out on the streets in many of the scenes we see. The bulk of the buildings seem pretty much empty.
And the name of the show is Big O. It's ABOUT Big O. If we see too little of him then they'd change the name of the show to "Roger Smith: Negotiator", which doesn't sound that bad, but....
Anyway, you get the idea.

Now there's an idea....
But then wouldn't they have to make a FOURTH season called Big Fau to describe the Rosewater's take on the series?
Schwarzwald didn't find out the truth in time to disseminate it like he had planned, but I expect he will be back in our ever-beloved and cherished Season 3, whatever it may be called.
