Mystic Meaning of your Signature

It's Cloud and Tifa being adorable together! The words are very simply "never leave me" in french ( of course I might have made a mistake since I'm just beginning to take it). I guess I feeling overly emotional about my current relationship with someone and I'm channeling it through my banner...it also looks Halloween-ish so it'll work for a while.

I don't know if I posted in here with my recent sig, but here's the 411: the Nissan Skyline GT-R is badass, and I do mean, badass. I love the way its engine sounds, the spoiler on the '01 model is sweet, and . . .well, it has a pretty name.

The sucky thing is, for some odd reason, Nissan won't sell it to the U.S. I wanna own it someday, so much so that I'm willing to plunk down a huge chunk of change in the future to have one made to U.S. specs, and imported here.

But for now, a sig of the Skyline will do, I suppose. Would you not want to drive it? It's awesome.

The character freaking the hell out in the sig image is Yukari from azumanga daioh. The erratic, crazed english teacher that drinks and periodically yells at things/people or attacks them.

I guess it gets funnier when you think that a number of people think I'm a history major because I want to teach...yeah...yeah. I DETEST children, and I have a really broad definition of "children" (anything three years or more younger than myself). So yeah, right, you really want me TEACHING THEM. You know I'd just lie through my teeth...what the hell are they going to do about it? And once you've got tenure, it's like having the mafia backing you up. So yeah...you really don't want me teaching.

One of the quotes is from a defunct CNBC show, that I found amusing at the time.

The second one I'm convinced is applicable to every situation you can find yourself in, I just haven't figured out HOW.

And the third one....I forget.

What do you think about the Planetarium?

The banner is a CG image from Key's Kinetic Novel, Planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~. This is a novel where you do not make any choices at all, as it is not interactive at all. It's quite a sad story really, but is nonetheless a good one.

This image shows a lightpost taking place in the future where very few people live in the earth, and war still goes on. I felt that blurring the image first, and then adding a video filter suited this image well. It didn't need any additional editing, because it was already a great image to begin with. If you click on the banner, it takes you to the homepage of the Unofficial English Translation for Planetarian.

Overall, it's a novel that in my opinion is worth checking out. To show that I've enjoyed the novel, I made a banner for it, along with the avatar that you see right now. That's the story behind the banner.

I'm going to be honest. My take on your whole av/sig theme is that it stems from yet another (possibly somewhat obscure) movie and/or play/musical. So, being the fact that I have no idea what the reference is from, I'm just going to stop there and rate the image.

As I mentioned in this thread, my profile theme stems from Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest musical, the Woman in White. The image in my signature is that of Anne Catherick, who is the so-called woman in white. She is initally thought to be a ghost by one of the other characters, but it is later revealed that she is a real girl with a tragic past...and a terrible secret.

The lyrics below the image are from the track You See I Am No Ghost, and are sung by Anne. They provide a short, but excellent portrait of the tragic girl.

The quote in my signature is from a Wilifred Owen poem by the title "Dulce et Decorum est"

Simply translated, it means "Sweet and Noble is it to die for the Fatherland"

In the context of the poem, it considers the saying as a lie told to young people to romanticize war in contrast to the poem itself, which recalls the experiences of a soldier from WWI who experiences the true face of war.

The full text of the poem is here: http://www.warpoetry.co.uk/owen1.html

The sig is composed of two images from The End of Evangelion, a movie I recently watched. Thanks to this and Death:Rebirth, my interest in Evangelion has increased, and I hope to finish the TV series soon.

As I mentioned in this thread, the sig also has the similar theme that the avatar has. However, if you've seen the recent sigs, they have more of a darker theme than the avatars do. This is the same case for this image. The image also contains a link that takes you to Manga Entertainment's End of Evangelion web site. I wanted to have the same disturbing theme that the movie had. I just hope it's not too disturbing for some people.

----------------------

After having no banner in the last theme, I went for an AIR theme. The character is Misuzu Kamio from the movie. I perfer the movie version of her over the TV and the visual novel versions.

I got tired of the VW theme, so I went and made a couple screencaps from The Empire Strikes Back.

AT-AT = cool.

I've finally decided to put an image in my signature.
It's Dan Smith from the Killer 7 comic book.

For a while I was search under every rock I could to find a picture of Ororon from the manga The Demon Ororon...and then I remembered I had a scanner...and bam!

Besides...look at him. Ain't he cute? In a tragic kinda way. As for the quote...it ties in with my current 'The Demon Ororon' theme, it being a quote from the end that I grew rather fond of. Think about it though. Where DOES the king of Hell go when he dies?

Spawn just owns. His powers over darkness and light are something many wish they had. Plus Aleski Briclot and Todd McFarlane have real kick ass Art Styles.

My signature contains images from the animated series, AIR. The images so far have been the covers for the limited edition of the six DVDs, AIR prelude, and AIR IN SUMMER. If you click on the image, it will take you to Animesuki's AIR page where you can download and watch AIR if you haven't already.

The quote on the bottom is the text that appears on the visual novel. It's basically an overview of the story that AIR tells. It may sound odd to you at first (especially the third line), but it does start to make sense.

----------------------------------------------------------

Same deal, but replace AIR with Shinigami no Ballad. Big Grin The first line is actually from the song "Fear" by Adam Freeland. It's my favorite song from Rez, which also works with the passage. The second line is a quote from the opening theme "no one" by KOY. The last two are what Momo, the main character, says at the end of the first episode.

------------------------------------------------------------

The quote changed quite a bit to match with the image. The first still relates to the "mind killer" idea. The second is also a variation of the lyric in the opening theme of SnB. The last two somewhat relate to what Momo says at the first episode, but I made it so that it would seem much more sinister.

In this scene, I could never tell if Ackbar was thinking "oh man, this takes a huge pressure off of us" or "oh man, a whole sh**load of people are about to die on that ship."
