Thank you for responding, Bismark. I'm not sure if you fully understood what I was saying. The premise of the show is that the narratives of Christianity and Judaism are true but if that is true, then it's also true that the doctrines of C&J are true, as well, which would mean that there would have to be things in the show in which God communicates with the people in the show, etc. Despite the fact that the whole show revolves around myths of both faiths, it never (so far as I noticed from the episodes and summaries i've seen) mentions any of the central figures of either religion in any meaningful, and contextual manner. That is, if the peripheral characters/things such as Lilith, the spear, are so important, why the hell don't we see Yaweh or Jesus anywhere? And no, you can't say that a weird-looking giant animal/human thing up on a cross (Lilith) is Jesus. That's obviously not true.
I don't hate the show but it has some serious problems with its internal coherency.

LOL.
What do you mean "almost?"
Anyway....I saw part of the sub of Eva. Up to the navy episode where Asuka was introduced. It didn't really grab my attention that much. Maybe because Shinji got on my nerves.

Japan's a mountainous country. The low-lying portions are completely flooded, but areas with higher elevations endure. Basically, the map of Japan circa 2015 in Eva-verse looks rather different than Japan circa 2004 in our world. It's a bit smaller and (as with anywhere on earth after over half the population died), considerably less populous.

I also got both NGE Directors cut disks when they came out. And Falcon 7 also being a big NGE fan, had some interesting discussions with me. Let me say, if you haven't seen them - they added a few VERY KEY scenes in the understanding of certain people's motives (I mean real EUREKA! moments I would have after watching the directors cuts). All this said, no matter how much you might like, love, dislike or hate Neon Genesis Evangelion there is one thing you can't disagree with:
it is art.
I still have not seen a show that can compared (on the same level with) in OVERALL terms of a story, art selection, originality, emotion and range.

Here here! I haven't picked up the Director's Cuts yet (I know, I know, but they're at the top of my list of must-have items), but I certainly intend to...
I love Evangelion. One of my favorite anime series of all time...

A slight mistake on the part of the staff. There's another mistake I remember well that occured after the fight with Zeruel. Chalk up little mistakes like that to hurried scheduling and rushed production. However, it isn't important to obsess over things like this. It's much better to look at the overall story.

I have started watching Neon Genesis Evangelion on the Anime Network, and so far, it is very interesting. The main [anti]hero so far, Shinji Ikari, seems to act like a wimp right now because he wouldn't go out and use Eva-01 to save Tokyo 3. He and his father don't seem to have a good relationship right now. Heh, I'm sure that'll change in future episodes [or not!]. I have only the first three DVD's of it so far. It is a very interesting series.

Chalk it up to lazy animators not wanting to think out how the map of Japan should change given the melting of Antarctica's polar cap.

We know in show the map is different because several formerly important cities are underwater (watch the episode where Asuka arrives, the battlegroup is sailing over what was once a port city. Also, in Magma Diver, they were planning on scuba diving in the ruins of another city before being called off their class trip) and the Tokyo-Yokohama metropolitan area has been entirely relocated to Tokyos 2 and 3.
And as to Asuka, it's Asuka, what do you expect? She considers herself an adult (and has since she was very young). She probably considers not wearing panties something mature and grown up, but never expected a gust of wind to reveal that fact to everybody. Silly and naive, but she's only 14, what do you expect?

In End of Evangelion it showed another example of Asuka trying to force the image of her being an adult to other people. She was laying next to Kanji, then she suddenly ripped her shirt open and demanded that he look. She is a pretty messed up, but considering her life circumstances you can hardly be surprised. Isn't there any remotely normal people in the series? Hell, everyone has their problems, this series just takes it to a whole new level.
