Does anyone know if that activation code for Big O came from some piece of literature? If so, what was it? I'm just curious to know.

Some say it was written on executioners swords, so they wouldn't feel guilty about killing.

Other sources say that it was on the sword in the conan the barbarian movie, and the creator thought it looked cool.

Both sound very likely... Maybe it is both

Well, the way I see it, an activation code for the Megadeus shouldn't be obvious - otherwise it could get stolen. As for the phrase itself, Mr. Katayama speaks for himself.

... "Cast in the name of God, ye not guilty," was originally on 17th century executioners' swords, but Katayama learned of the phrase from a 20th century source. "I was reading an old magazine and I was looking at an article about (film director) John Milius and Conan the Great (one in the series of Conan the Barbarian films) and that phrase was written on Conan's sword - you can't see it in the Conan movies. I really liked that phrase, and I felt it was the perfect phrase to move this enormous robot. Since it wasn't publicized very much in this movie, I decided to be the one to publicize this phrase."

I understand that the swordsmith for the Conan movies just added some rune designs to the blade. I don't know if they were runes of an actual language or the "Cast In The Name Of God, Ye Not Guilty." Since you never actually see them closeup in the film why bother?

Someone in a previous post said the "Cast In The Name Of God, Ye Not Guilty" were written on executioner swords during the early days of the French Revolution. Maybe the Conan swordsmith discovered this in his research and added it to his design.

I like it, myself.
I don't mind if the idea was ripped from a sword or a movie.
Hell, I automatically assumed that, anyway.
I think it sounds and looks cool on a Megadeus's screen.
The language lends a feeling of those Bigs coming from an era gone by - especially by semi-futuristic Paradigm's standards.

Of course, knowing exactly what is means and why it scrolls across the Bigs' screens like that is another story.

This topic was beaten to death in another thread some weeks ago.

The original source is the Bible. It's one translation of the verse that is usually translated as "Let he who is not guilty cast the first stone". Both versions are equally valid.

How many threads have we had about Big O's signature phrase again...?

Well, not having seen the origonal thread, thanks for the info. I must say,"Let he who is not guilty cast the first stone" as an alterate translation does make a LOT of sense. Considering the circumstances under which Big Duo Inferno killed Gabriel and Big Fau originally rejected Alan. This is denfinitly going in my article.
